I believe VF5R will come out on console, but just don't know when, and that is the most frustrating thing....wait and wait.
Does anyone remember how long between VF5 announced on console and be launched? about 4 months? Maybe we still have a tiny chance that we can play on summer!!!~~

    Dennis,
actually vf5 for ps3 was announced at e3 2006 even before the the game was in the arcades in japan.

Well then, glad I wasn't waiting for R.

I'll most certainly enjoy the other fighters out now and coming out in 2009, until SEGA changes their minds (if they ever will....).

It was two years from 4EVO to FT.

And of course FT never made it outside of Japan aside from a few people spending loads of cash to import the game for their own private collections and a few random arcades buying the game for god knows what reason.

If we have to wait two more years for VF5:FT or whatever by that point I'll have been so far removed from the VF series that I don't think I'll be able to make another commitment again.

I got burned hardcore by Sega after buying a PS3, two VSHG, and two copies of VF5 (JP/US versions not that they were different really). And then having to shell out more money for a 360 once VF5:Online game out. And then having both of those versions become completely obsolete after 5R was announced.

I don't think for one second that Sega plans on putting 5R or 5FT (should it happen) on consoles.

If you want VF5R start saving up for an arcade cabinet.

Edit: after just perusing the VF5 Wikipedia entry I noticed that someone added the petition to the entry.

LOTS of cash, because I think they don't sell just one arcade cabinet, but the whole setup (VF.Net [wich is useless outside Japan and maybe other countries], VF.TV, Terminal...)

Hi. I’m I have sent the message that I want VF5R on consoles. But not only this. Also I have sent the message that I wish to see in VF5R. I consider that VF5 doesn’t have one simple thing for training in dojo. In the first: need to return record of actions of the opponent which was in VF4evo. In the second: need to add possibility to start these records in repeating and in a random mode. It will give the chance to practice against sets of actions of the concrete opponent. It will give the chance to train reaction. It is the best way to train defense which only can be thought up. I very much would wish to see this innovation in VF5R on consoles.
I think that my message to SEGA is useless. But if more people, who agree with me, will send the same message, maybe there will be an effect. In VF5R, I think, they should return training from VF4evo. And to add random function is not difficult.
    Sorry for my poor English.

Dunno about inside info but I'd say if they are going to release a console port, they are going to try and compete with Tekken 6 BR coming to 360/ps3 next year. Really it'd be stupid for either Namco or Sega to do anything in the near future, cause it's Street Fighter time right now. SF4 is coming out in February and then Namco will start pushing for t6br when that dies down. If Sega doesn't do anything by then, then I'd say it's not gonna happen.

Has been my thoughts on it all for the last month too. It's rough though cause that's so far away and even then there's no certainty in it :\

Really, what comes out between SF4 and Tekken 6 in the US?

Only games I can think of will be

KOF98UM XBLA- which won't matter cause only about 10 US players are even decent at KOF.

    AH2 possibly

    That's it.

If they bothered, they should get it out in the summer before Tekken 6.

That said, I don't expect them to bother since we haven't heard a peep and the game wasn't profitable. I don't think we'll get anything until VF6 in 2-3 years.

I think one of the reasons VF doesn't sell well is they keep putting it on systems that are just starting up. low install base+niche of niche game= disaster.

If they want VF6 to do well on console that should put that out at most 18 months from now on arcade, and 24-30 mos on console.

If they wanted VF to do well they'd put it multi-platform and online capable right out of the box...

PS2 releases of VF4...no online mode. PS3 version, no online mode, and no ability to patch the game despite the PS3 being online compatible out of the box (unlike the PS2)...brilliant.

X360, finally online mode, but this version becomes obsolete three months later...with the release of VF5R.

As for when Sega would release this game, the time is never.

No one is going to compete with SFIV, it is going to be the biggest thing in the fighting game community since Street Fighter II was at its peak. Tekken 6 will be overlooked completely by SFIV.

They keep screwing around putting out a sonic game every year and they wont put out their proven profitable arcade games...WTF. I haven't bought a sonic game since genesis...I pre ordered VF5 and a VSHG two months before it came out with overnight shipping from play asia...you know how much that cost...O sh*t maybe that is why its not profitable here...We all pre ordered from play asia...But anyways VF5R and Lord of the vermillion are the two sega games I waiting to get my hands on...I wish they would stop releasing dumb sh*t. and focus on porting there arcade library. Also that sega america would fight for us to get the goods we want to play!

InstantOverhead isn’t Tekken 6 coming out later in the year doe?...Tekken has always sold well I don’t see that changing...esp. since its multi platform now....Looking forward to SF4...

    No. lol

Tekken 6 is coming out wayyy later on console than SF4. Tekken is and has been the top selling fighter in the US (along with MK... :/) for years now. It's also insanely popular in other countries. It's not going to be overlooked because of SF4. They're two different games entirely, and the difference in when they're being released will only help each one sell better.

Not to mention the tekken live action movie will also be out next year which will undoubtedly boost game sales and vice versa.

Register for a Sega Pass. Then go into Support > Submit a Ticket > and then submit a message to Sega of America/Europe.

"Your ticket has been submitted to our Department successfully. One of our support personnel will get back to you with more information shortly."

I can't wait to see what Sega has to say about this.

I remember emailing Sega years ago to get 4FT on the PS2 and every reply was an email bot with a canned response.

Edit: Here's the first of the robots:

Your Ticket has been received and a Sega Support Agent will review and respond as soon as possible. The details of the ticket are listed below. Please make sure the Ticket ID remains in the subject at all times.
