My apologies, just checked up on wiki you're 3rd strike came out a few months b4 marvel vs Capcom 2. I had my dates wrong cuz I was basing it on console release as that's what I played on back then.

I didn't play the old school SF at a higher lvl so i can't talk about specifics with them. What I herd SSF2T was balanced. All I know is that in finals of 3rd strike you saw Yun, Makoto, Chun, Ken. You never saw sean or Q.

The junk about having to pick a few chars to be competitive I was talking about the list of games you mentioned that came out AFTER SF3:3rd strike. Don't tell me you didn't see the same damn chars every tourny in the finals. I hated that about the game, why I love vf.

    shedindin:
It might lack parrying but from what I read the system includes a defensive cancel instead, so you could bust out a poke into combo by cancelling the block animation. Until I know how that one works out I'm not going to crack down on their decision to remove the SF3 style parry. (Where was that article?)

I'm not a fan of the polygons either, though I appreciate them a little better than some. EX always was a wacko experiment. If they've heeded the lessons from that they needn't fail. And I wager the gameplay/graphics equation to end up somewhere near Smash Bros from as far as the 2.5debate is concerned (including pause screen camera tilting, which is what the screenshots have showed us), but with street fighter physics and movesets of course.

    Tricky:
MK 1 through 3 could be used as competitive games, albeit with some terrible tiering issues. Those 50% healthbar combos do take a bit of practice to get right in MK3. Main problem is that there are some glaring problems with the controls and a load of bugs. None of which stopped SC3 from having some tourneys organised around it mind you.

I always just assumed MK was broken because I never herd of people talking about big MK tourney's, but if it did have a time hats off to those guys. I'd break my controller b4 mastering the old versions of that game. I do like the new 3d versions tho.
SC3 makes me cry you bring back sad memories of

    God damn...
I didn't ever want to see that SC3 in my life (I avoided that thing like the plague after I played it once. They mess up Kilik, but they keep mitsurugi at the same broken strength!)
Essentially what I'm afraid of with the next SF is the issue of frames. It's supposed to be at 60, that's good but considering that the original SF team hasn't been confirmed to be working on it (they are off making dragon ball z games, SuperDBZ plays like a marvel game in 2D cell shades). But unfortunately the reason I say that capcom has a problem with beta testing is they think site locations is the same thing. AHVP in MVC2 had actually been used since the very first cabinets were out...BUT SOMEHOW CAPCOM STILL DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE A PROBLEM! I'm hoping their attitude is instead of letting those within the company beta test, give it out to the masses in someway to check it out. I doubt that even Daigo would be able to count all the frames of advantage for whatever particular move from Dhalsim. Come on Capcom, open your damn development project for once!

Lol no parry = Turtling i beg to differ. They can just put some toher stuff to replace it. Personnaly im hoping for a totally new system and BTW Guilty gear has by far the best anti turtling system.

You turtle you lose all you super meter bar ( called tension) And without parry Guilty gear is by far the most offensive based 2D fighter out there.

Anyways im just gonna wait and see what sf4 will play like and i just hope it wont be broken as MK when it turned 3D please come back to your roots MK

Kilik is considered stronger in SC3, mostly because of the strength of 66b and ws b. Mitsu is considered below the white chicks (X,Sophie, Cass) with the 22b VC shenanigans, and below a few others without, depending on who you ask and their opinions on risk/reward in regards to tier listings. Mitsu was not considered broken in SC2, and aside from the 22b glitch, not as broken as white chicks in 3.

The combo in that vid is not something you're going to see in a real match, lol. But yeah, SC3 was broken. Too bad, the basic system was better than 2, they just fucked up the balance and that VC glitch.

Oh edit, Flash posted the Lizardman VC, hahaha. If VC is't banned and Canada shows up, you WILL see that in a tournament. Lamest shit ever haha. Fucking Canadians.

X is still broken though. They really need to fix her.

I played SC3 alot back in the day. I play it pretty good as well. The game is pretty broken though but we usually play without using glitches and the sorts. SC4 shouldn't have this many problems hopefully.

With sf4, ppl will adjust without having parry. I am sure the new system shall be very interesting. But we will have to wait and see.

SC3 is not just broken but extremely unbalanced as well.

X for example has very easy 33B->1BB. 50% of life bar.
    Siegfried has no chance.

I play SC on competitive level.

That right there is why I'm truly bitter about SC3 because I LOVE Sigfried and he just couldn't compete at all. I was a beast with him in SC2(nightmare) and SC1

My friends and I play it without the glitches and it's still hard for sieg to do well. Too slow, no mixups(comparativly), and not enough pay off when he hits if they plan on making him like that.

He is 2x slower than X, 2x more punishable and makes 2x less dmg.
Even throw game is worse than Xs.
Talim is retarded. She was my main in SC2. In SC3 she is unplayable.

i'm sorry to say this. but i know it looks good. but since capcom has a history of making rather bad 3d fighters... i can't think this gonna be better.. i'm really hoping i'm wrong but still it been in the back of my head since i seen the first screenshot.

Judging from interviews, they realize at least a few of the balance problems, especially pertaining to the white chicks. If you look at the balance changes made in the arcade revision of SC3, they seem to be on the right track.

In any case, SC2 was pretty damn broken in early releases as well, I believe arcade revisions went all the way up to version D, and then the console release was the most balanced. Jumping straight to console hurt SC3 in that respect, but online patches are certainly possible for SC4.

Sad but true although there was always RX's Urien which was simply a joy to watch and Kokujin's Dudley. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
