I like Jacky! Only because he's funny.

    Fixed.

VF needs it's own token Fighting Game Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Hey, Sarah and Vanessa are a gay couple...they're just the good kind.
I would like to point out that the previous statement was a joke, and it wasn't meant to be homophobic, but sexist.

I agree with both of you.

However... at this point, with the storyline and Jean's obviously anime-bishounen looks... I'm thinking Sega threw the fangirls some yaoi bait. I'm not taking it.

-holding out for Aoi x Kage.- Yeah, I know, never gonna happen.

So... trying to get back to Saner grounds here :p
(I haven't been around for awhile due to TAFE work and all...)
We're obviously talking rivals/match ups and such... at least some sort of match ups... Aoi x Kage?
Yeah, you're right, that'll never happen, but it's very interesting to say the elast :p

So let's look at the options here...
we have (start with the more obvious ones)
    Sarah vs Jacky
    Wolf vs El Blaze
    Lau vs Pai
    Lion vs Jean
    Aoi vs Brad
    Goh vs Kage
... but that leaves some loose ends, so lets change this around abit, and put them together with their storylines...
    lets put
    Lau vs Lei Fei
    Pai vs Eileen
What about Jeffry? His only real rival is the Devil Shark, but, he ain't in the mix :p
unless they're thinking of something crazy for VF6...
    Shun? what about his pupil?
We haven't really heard much about his story, who the heck is his 'pupil'?
Maybe introduce him abit more in VF6 i.e. a new character?
And what of Akira, the face of the series? His childhood friend is Aoi, and Wolf is his friendly rival... perhaps Brad could go somewhere else but where?
We must also take into account that (very unfortunately) Lau will be dead in VF6...
and, we're guessing Dural will be mondo boss character.

    Hmmmm, I don't think so.

For a start only real life people die, and even if video game characters do die then I think Shun would be more likely.

He's like how old now? 100+? That guy has got to have Pâté for a liver.

I think Lau will be cloned in VF6!

    BUT!

He will lose all his memories and will not remember his own daughter, Pai!!!!!!!!!

    Pai: I am your daughter!
    Lau: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Not much talk of Taka's story..

Brad should take him under his wing and show him how to attract the ladies /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Oh... and Jeff will marry the Devil-Shark

They need to flesh out Taka story!

Where was Taka during VF4-VF5? What has he been up to?

Maybe he was too fat to fight! Taka took a break to lose some weight and came back in R slimmer!!!

Will we ever know the trials and tribulations of Taka's diet? the long lonely walks in the park?

YES I CAN! YES I CAN! GO GO TAKA GO!!!

I can't see them killing off any of the characters and replacing them with younger versions with the same moveset. Lau's story in VF6 will probably just have him entering the tournament under the promise of a cure from J6.

Also, Shun was born on the 2nd of January, 1912 so he's 97 right now. Random piece of useless knowledge for the day.

I was recently told that Bone and liver are the only things in the body that can heal completely without scar tissue, so maybe not /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I kind of enjoyed quest mode on evo. Where u play real player data and the story is you wanna be the best in japan at vf.

If sega expanded the stories for each character, threw some twists, have in game dialogues and some tekken-esque drama in there, it would be the fix for the casual fiends that need a storyline. VF5r's hi-octane music would also help with the flow of the story.

    ---or---

Just have Quentin Tarantino redo the stories to draw the people to vf. Either way, its ggs for sega!!!

Still quite confused about what they're going to do with Lau...
and as for Shun... 97? holy shit, I had no idea lol

An interesting snippet I found in a game review for VF5 on 1up.com
    It goes something like this...

"where's the story mode? i may just be the stupidest person out there but i did all the modes and never found a story other than the short blips in the manual about each person. maybe tekken, soul calibur, etc. etc. spoiled me but a basic storyline mode has kind of been a staple in these kind of games for me no matter how lame or cheesy they are.

play wise? decent, but not good. not as responsive as i'd have liked on a lot of things and generic button mashers seem easier and more fun to play."

    opinions?

I put the dumbest part in red.

A story mode would be nice. But anyone who says mashing buttons is more fun needs to quit reviewing video games for a living.

    very true
I dont get how people can get a kick out of mashing buttons anyway

You'd get high on the God complex in videogames too if you were able to control randomness.

It makes no sense... Just makes me sad that's really what some people prefer. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

    AS FOR STORY MODE:

I don't see how it could hurt... To me, more content is always nice. If it makes the characters more compelling, and memorable to people, it could possibly help the game's image.

I think that SEGA NEEDS to add every single item and 'item win pose' to the console version, AND give the console version all of the many 'pre-fight screen intros' (like they have in the arcade where the characters do crazy shit before the stage loads up.) to give the characters... more character.

Seems like SEGA has developed a lot of character related content in the arcade versions of VF5 and VF5R but they ported a pretty stripped down version to consoles. If they included all of that stuff, it would go a long way. I think if they gave us what they already have, it would flesh the characters out BETTER than some chintzy story mode.......

Agreed with the pre-fight screen intros. Arcade perfect? Not quite, Sega.
