    Srider,

I didn't realize you were being somewhat in accordance with my point on BMWs, I thought you were suggesting that they actually are better than the alternatives.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Well, I guess I can only speak for myself, but you should probably too. </div></div>

Jeff, who exactly do you think I'm speaking for?

I'm just expressing my opinion about what I've read and my experience w/ the VSHG. I'm clearly on my own in my opinions about the buzz around the VSHG (which I stand by still, I've never seen so many people anxious to get a product that was recalled the moment it was released... and I've also admitted to getting one). But, thank god VFDC has your tenacious endurance for policing every opinion I put forth.

I know you might not get this, but some people are actually on a budget. I'm really glad you can afford a $40,000 car, that's cool. No sarcasm, I wish I could afford that, then I could get a hybrid and modify it to plug-in. Let's see hands for all the VFDC members who can afford a $700/month car payment (40k/60 months, before tax and interest).

You think I'm suggesting that the VSHG isn't the be-all end-all so I can be COOL by being different? Here's the reality: there is actually a long list of some of Socal's best players who either can't afford, or don't want to budget $550-650 w/out the game or sticks to a PS3: LA Andy, Joey, DRE, Goat Cheese, Jack etc. That list goes on for the rest of NA too. Unless you play a command heavy character, things like the Hori FS3 will probably last you a long time and work well. I have about 1500 quest/VS matches logged into mine, without a hitch, and if it DID break, I'd just be out $50. For the price of a VSHG+Shipping, you can buy almost 3 Hori Fighting Stick 3s.

It's rude to for people to suggest Rodney is out of touch for liking the DOA4 stick. I think Rodney has pretty good hands, and knows what he's talking about.

    Sorry for going OT...

Sorry Bryan, I didn't mean to come across as policing your posts. In fact I was trying hard not to respond to your last two posts but...your last two 1) stated unfair things about the character I used, and 2) stated unfair/inaccurate things about the car I drove. What is a man to do but to say something?!?

The point is that BMWs and VSHGs are praised for a reason, and that reason is that they are a better product. Sure, not everyone may think the price premium is worth it, but for the people who have posted reviews here clearly they do think that. And yeah you may think BMWs are bad overpriced cars, but Car and Driver rated it one of the 10 best cars of the year and I think it drives like knife through butter.

Umm, he said a Lotus Esprit is a more hard-core sports car than your BMW 3. How is that unfair? He also said a 7 series (SEVEN, not THREE) ranked higher on appeal than quality. How is that innacurate?

Those cars (7 and 3) aren't really comparable as they have different intended use. And the whole "your friend paid too much" - how can you substantiate? There are numerous 3 series. Maybe he bought an M3 (of course, maybe you did, too - although you might have mentioned it if you had - as it would be a steal for 40k - so you probably have a plain 3 - what a waste - you could've had an M3 - now THAT'S a KNIFE for your butter, 'mate :p ).

P.S. my WRX pwns your 3 on the mountain :p :p

OK, I don't want to go deep into it since I don't think the discussion would be useful, so here are the quick highlights:

    - 55K is a BIG difference versus 40K...I don't even know if you can pay that much even if you max out the options on a 3-series. (Unless you get a convertible or add a rocket launcher to your 330, but then you'd have to compare like-to-like with the Esprit). Therefore inaccurate or unfair at best

    - The stat about the 7-series is highly misleading since the comparison to the Esprit is the 3-series, which happens to be rated by most places as the best car of its class. Therefore unfair

OK - I realize I'm staying off-topic just because we're talking cars (one of my many vices).

I just optioned out a 335i Coupe with Sport Package and Active Steering - it came to $45k after delivery charges. Add tax and license and it becomes $49.5k. Could be that Bryan's friend was upside-down in a trade-in and had to pay 55k to get his car.

Now, to pay $40k, I'd have to get my 335i without options AND pay $4000 under MSRP. Congratulations if you pulled that off. Also, the 330 (the car you mention, which I'm guessing you have) is gone from the 3 series line-up so I can't price one of those.

    330 when you could've had an M3? Boo. :p

Again, he called the Lotus Esprit a Hard Core Sports car. I agree with this. I'd hardly call the 335i I looked up "Hard Core." At least an M3 would've been closer.

And a BMW 3 could still rate higher in appeal than quality, doesn't matter if it's best in class for reliability if the whole class leaves something to be desired.

I do like BMWs. I think a Z4 M-Coupe would be the car I'd buy (although it's more than I want to spend). For that and other reasons, an STI will probably be my next car.
