SoCal VF5 in 2007 and beyond

Nice get-together last night. Ken_I[/size] and Matt_K[/size] came to visit. Other players were at L_A_Akira's[/size] place. Awesome to have two get-togethers run simultaneously. L_A_Akira[/size] plans to come here on Thursday (tomorrow) so we'll do another 7:00 to 12:00~1:00 session. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Note: Ken_I[/size] appears to have a new main character! Watch out!

He racked up about 100 fights last night and left with around a 75% win ratio. I didn't get a hadle on his style till later on in the evening. The last 34 fights were a 50/50 split. Sweet.

I challenge Ken I's new character, winner has to buy the others chili fries. Oh and Jared sucks, I want a PS3, and a new FJ Cruiser. (I might settle on a Yaris though, starts at like 11 grand)

When's the next gathering with Ken I, I might be able to convince my friend to come along since he idolizes Ken I's Makoto. lol

Also - no VF at my house on Tuesday. I had forgotten a previous committment.

 

The photo of the players is so cool!!! Other cities should take note and do the same thing. It's great to see who the players are. I think this is a good way to get publicity for the community. Definately worthy af a new thread: call it the who you are and where your from thread.

 

Gathering has started, Nocturnal Sickwidit and Ken I all on there way.

Something really cool happened yesterday - GodEater[/size] was in town and available for many games of VF5. After a few sets at my house, he and I were off to drive the mountain in the WRX, dinner at Frisco's, and much more VF5 at EL_Brisal73's[/size] place. Good shit, man.

 

VF5 MARCH MADNESS ROUND 2 EVENT

Date:
FRIDAY March 16th from 8PM to Whenever****

Location: Azusa, California
(30 minutes from Los Angeles and 30 minutes from Orange County, 30 minutes from Riverside)
between the 210 and 605 freeways
Parking can be a pain, but the earlier you get there the better.
Food can be ordered if people chip in. Taco Bell, Mcdonalds, Carl's JR, and Farmer Boys

Setup will be as follows:
1 65 inch 1080p hdtv
possibility of
4 additional 20in HD monitors

1 PS3 systems
2 Joysticks
1 VF5 games

What can you bring?
Yourself, a PS3, a copy of the game, and Joysticks/Controllers

This will be a great way to get some much needed playtime before Socal Tournament #2

I am also opening this up for anybody that is willing to come to this gathering. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN SOCAL to join this event. I especially send out an invitation to Team Nocal. Maybe we can start a rivalry since your scene is growing as well

Catherine, Yosuke, and I will be there unless something bizarre happens between now and then. I'll have a setup plus additional monitors with us.

 

I can make it with a couple of my friends (I'd say reserve for 4 at most) for Saturday evening (around 7). I'm still lacking PS3 supplies, but I'll also see what I can bring in the meantime. Let me know if there's anything else that I shouldn't have any trouble in helping out the cause.

This was cool and I wanted to thank both Plague and El_Brisal for their hospitality on such short notice.

After a week and a half of travelling and working morning to early morning this was a most pleasant diversion.

Thanks again for everything, I appreciated it all. The Mountain drive was freaky but very cool. Nothing like whipping along tight corners down a mountain, hearing the tires do their "chut chut chut" noise and seeing the tire marks from unlucky/unskilled drivers who didn't negotiate the turn quite as artfully as Plague could (these marks invariably lead into the mountain side but a few--sickeningly--seemed to lead off the side).

VF5 was much fun! Thanks for hosting El_Brisal. HEY.
