    Welcome Suzuna

I dont think there is much need for new gathering locations, but whatever you can bring to the scene the better.

Btw their are quite a few Riverside players..One being Matt_K and the other Plague who also has gatherings at his place in Riverside.

Wow, seems to be alot of people from UCR that are interested from what I get, a 3S player also said he was interested especially after finals. And I have an old DoA friend from UCR that was also interested in learning the game.

As far as AI is concerned, I think people only go there for nostalgia sake unless there are gatherings that I don't know about. I certainly did appreciate the dual set up there. If people want to gather up to play FT please post up.

However, regarding VF5 the main event. We gathering every thursday at Plagues house (in Riverside, Jurupa area) for games. And every saturday or so Brisal hosts gatherings at his house in Azusa. I also know LA Akira has gatherings though I haven't heard from him in a while. He has a sweet home made PS3 cab set up.

Just stick around a pick up the gathering information when handed out and came join us for VF fun.

I see, I'll keep a heads up for any gatherings.

Question though, is VF5 played primarily on stick or can it also be played on pad? Just seems like from what I've read, a lot of stuff would be pretty hard to pull off on pad.

Going to be hard to pick the game up if it's stick since I've barely started learning how to play stick.

I say use whatever you are comfortable with. Even though the majority of players use a stick, it is not necessary, imo, to your success in this game. Look at Denkai. He uses a pad and he won Evo East!

Oh yeah, and I'll be going to UCR next year. I'll be glad to play you in Tekken or VF.

This would be the most opportune time to learn a stick. Being unfamiliar with the game means that you have not yet developed a play sytle or developed muscle memory with either play device. Using a stick will be awkward at first, but given time, you will find it is the only way to play (no offense to pad players everywhere).

    Hey Folks -

I finally broke down and got a PS3 and VF5 today. I just couldn't wait any longer. I'll be driving up to partake in the gatherings as soon as I am at least somewhat familiar with the game. I'll be bringing my buddy, kite m0de (I belive CaliJared has met him before, during a DOA4 event..) and hopefully another friend of ours from SD.

I'd also like to host a gathering in San Diego during summer (more details later..) Looking forward to meeting/playing with y'all real soon.

    - STL

    P.S. - I'm wurlitz3er from DOA4 forums, if any of you remember me. :>

Dustin (if thats ur real name, I can't remember, haven't touched doa forums or community in a long time). There are actually a ton of people willing to play VF5 with you RIGHT NOW in SD. Why is that people in San Diego cannot get in contact with eachother I don't know, but whatever.

You should look up Markman and SDTEKKEN (don't get scared of the name) as he and a small group there are looking for VF comp. Also, though I heard he went away, Line (used to play doa) and his friend who are also from SD played at Brisals big gathering. If you can get in contact with him I'm sure they'll play.

Even though Riverside is possibly closer too you by just taking the 15 north, I would suggest trying to attend a saturday gathering as that gives you the most time to get up here.

Also, I too am probably 5 seconds away from selling my 360 for a PS3 cause I can't freaking stand this wait.

PS: If this "other" friend is who I think it is, I'm probably gonna barf. Sorry

Ah! Activity in SoCal thread. So awesome. Let's celebrate by playing VF5 at my house Thursday night - 7:00 to midnight.

Also - SweepTheLeg, congratulations on your purchase. I hope you enjoy it. Another SD player to look up (besides those mentioned by Unsafe_Dan) is Sol_fizZ - very nice guy. Don't wait too long to voyage up this way. The drive is long and well worth it. Find other SD players, carpool, and split gas costs. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

@Dan - Yes, I'm Dustin -- and I'm not bringing Lap! lol...He hates VF5. He's actually pretty nice in person, but I know he can be..uh.."difficult" on forums. I've talked to one guy in the SD Tekken crew and he told me there are like 3-4 of them who are interested in picking up VF5 -- I'll definitely explore that option.

@Plague - I went to school with SoL_FiZz (Paul) @ UCSD. Took an art class with him in like '01. I pm'd him a while back -- hopefully we can carpool up to a saturday gathering.

Be patient with me being a noob -- I haven't played VF since DC's VF3tb, but I'm extremely dedicated to whatever I apply myself to, and I'll try to get myself up to snuff asap. Can't wait!

Not trying to compete with plague but I can't make it out to riverside this thursday so i'm planning to play here from 8pm-12am with whoever shows up. If no one shows up then i'll just be rockin quest mode for 4 hours. For those who are in or close to sherman oaks and want to get some games in, let me know.

Oh god, now I've got to step up my scrubby Tekken skills over the summer to present a worthy challenge.

And as for the Thursday gathering, would anyone be kind enough to give me directions or whatnot. I should be able to attend if it's relatively close to the UCR campus.
If not, I'll just hit up the Saturday gathering.

Lol Jared's pretty knowledgable on Tekken last I remember, but his main game is DoA bro. You can learn alot from Jared about 3D fighters irreguardless.

Show up, it would be nice to see a nice face besides the usually me, plague, catherine, and Matt K. If were lucky, maybe Ken. I or Matt K will bring their PS3's and we can have multi set ups.

ok, now that I'm done with my 10 page term paper and have a little breathing room before finals, I should be able to make it to the Thursday Riverside gathering.

Plague usually starts up around 7-7:30 ish. He might start earlier depending on what he is doing but 7-7:30 ish is a safe bet. I will be there later probably 8:30 or 9. Matt K will usually also be there early so you can play him too.

PS: Sorry to hear that Brian. In that case I will go to the sherman oaks gathering. Can anyone point me out to LA Akira's address?
