I wouldn't worry too much about the "lethality" of the Swine Flu. It's possible (dare I say likely) that it's either not as bad or only equally as bad as the various flu diseases we deal with each year.

However, upon discovery of the Swine Flu, it was likely that the reported cases were the most severe cases (because such cases warranted going to a hospital) early on, but a broader picture probably shows that on average it isn't so bad.

You also have the option of using a Component Video splitter:

    http://search.cablestogo.com/?Ntt=compon...CFRwpawodmkW3bw

IMO, Component Video also brings out good quality footage. All you need is a recording device that accepts component as well.

In my experience, a splitter is necessary if you want to play and record at the same time. Otherwise, lag is introduced.

    Setup would look like this:

    Xbox360 + HD Recorder > Splitter ----> HDTV

I think Gerald uses a Component splitter in his VS Cab? Maybe you could borrow that?

EDIT: Don't forget http://www.monoprice.com for cheap component cables.

EDIT 2: The HD Recorder ( Happauge) you listed still requires a laptop or PC. There's no HDD built in.

    Talis,

Here's what I did for the I Love VF and NYG videos:

Split the signal from the console. One signal goes into the TV and one signal goes into a DVD Recorder. I popped in a blank DVD-R and set the recorder to LP for 6 hours of recording on a 4.7GB DVD-R. During the tournament portion I used SP for 2 hours of recording on a DVD-R.

I ripped the DVD on a PC and took out whatever clips I needed. Recently I used a free program called Mpeg Streamclip that will let you set "in time" and "out time" by pressing "i" and "o" on the keyboard while watching the DVD. With Mpeg Streamclip I don't even need to rip the entire DVD to the PC, the program will encode select clips based on time.

I would guess a bunch of people here have a DVD recorder you can borrow for the event. This is sort of the quick inexpensive way to capture.

Buying a DVD Recorder might cost you about $100-$120 like this Toshiba one:

    http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-DR420-DVD-...42098641&sr=1-1

This is a good stand alone solution and recording is very stable since there's no PC involved till the ripping and encoding of videos. I think some Philips DVD recorders have component input. You can research it, but component input isn't very popular.

    For HD:

If you'll consider something fast and need HD, you really have got to go directly to the PC. The Hauppauge box you linked also needs a PC to store the footage the box is capturing. The hauppauge unit is limited by its USB connection. The data rate, which will determine video quality, probably isn't as high as what can be achieved with an internal card.

With HD capturing, you don't have to go lug the XBOX around. I would buy a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card. You can buy a powered HDMI splitter with two lengthy cable's from Monoprice. One HDMI cable goes into your TV, the other cable goes into your PC. The total cost with shipping should be less than $250. You can set the PC to record in 720P, which is VF5's native res. if I remember correctly. It's a lot of footage to sort through unless you pause between matches to save replays.

Intensity Pro review by a gamer:

    http://ve3tro.com/2015/blackmagic-design-intensity-pro-review-hd-capture-glory/

Either method will get you great looking footage.

Hope the above helps and have fun /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

To my knowledge its not possible to watch replays saved by profile A, while logged in as profile B. You can transfer the replays on the stick, but that doesnt change anything.. I dont know what you did earlier in there. But if you are planning to save replays, the replays should be saved under profile who is going to capture them. Just my advice. Direct capture or azusabos dvd recording are propably better ideas.

ps. its possible that its a name conflict issue, and if so, I'd like to know how xbox allows to DELETE replays.. afaik its not even possible.

It is possible, you just can't do it in-game.

You need to browse to your gamer files within the Xbox menu system and you can delete them from there (same place you'd go to copy to a memory card).

    Gentlemen,

I appreciate the assistance. Just so you know, I already use a DVR to make replay vids. I'm not splitting video out from the 360 during the event because the DVR only accepts S-Video input. Splitting that would result in a crappy and laggy display.

I no longer plan to buy the Hauppauge PVR because it does not store video files for transfer to the PC. I always thought it did.

I do not want to buy an HDMI splitter. My PC is over 50 ft from my TV. My PC may not run the HDMI capture card because it is old and somewhat slow (P4 2.4 gHz).

I do not want to buy a component splitter.

I am now going to search for a DVR with component or HDMI in that writes to DVD-RW/DVD-RAM. It needs to record in 16:9. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. I'm going to research Phillips as suggested by Azusabo.

Typh0n - of course you can stay at my house - it's all covered in the first post of this bad-ass thread:

Places to stay: At these events, my house gets really full - one time, the count was 24 people. Half were sleeping at any given time in any place they could find - including the hallway and even the stone floor. I didn't mind this at all - I thought it was awesome. However, if you want privacy and the possibility of a place to sleep undisturbed, here are some choices for lodging: The Motel 6 near Plague's house which is 2.3 miles away. Also, check back to see if other SoCal players want to provide a place to stay. If you wish to call my house your home during the party[/size], here's a list of the soft places on which you can attempt to sleep: two couches, two recliners, and three futons. I recommend you pack sleeping bags and pillows just in case. These soft places are not reserved for anyone. If you need to sleep, you use whatever spot you can find - it's likely to be amongst other people still awake and playing VF. A shower is available. I ask that it be used at what should be the quieter times of day - specifically 9am to around 1pm when people tend to be asleep and not needing to use the restroom.

You don't need a sleeping bag. You find a spot without people playing, you sleep there.

well, I am sorry to say this....

you not only need to find a spot to sleep, but also you should be careful around your place if there is someone who sleeps snoring loudly. for me, Since I travel a lot, people say I can sleep with some noise. however, if you are a light sleeper, you should fall in a sleep before they sleep, or you would need to find a place where you dont hear it. If you want to sleep well, it may be a good idea to prepare a pair of... earblock? earplug? so far, I haven't seen anyone brought them to the event though.

I am pretty sure they will talk(slightly complain?haha) about it in the morning, when they wake up because whenever the event is held, somebody always says it like" Fuck! I couldn't sleep!". since they know each other, I assume they just use it as a tool to have a conversation.

Hahaha SliceOfPai isn't going... that dude doesn't know how to cut off his locomotive engine. It's like he has 6-10 small workers contsructing his massive build inside of him during the night.

I'm not all that picky. I plan on using a shirt as pillow (nomadic warrior style!)

I'll be bringing a sleeping bag, if anything for the night at Geralds (is that his name?), aka..LA Akira with the VF cab.

So far I have not seen anyone express that much interest for Motel 6. Either people already have it taken care of, or everyone is expecting to sleep at Plagues. I'm still down for a night or two if other players want to split. Last time I only charged $20 if you wanted a bed. I'll reserve and stuff, just want to know if other players are interested, let me know.

    And now for something unexpected...

If you saw my previous posts you would have seen my two sticks (Madcatz TE and VSHG), well I saw some guy at Shoryuken.com have a plexiglass service for the TE stick and I just had to have it. Pic below...

Well it was an awesome product, and I noticed he had a custom service. I mentioned if he wanted to do one for a VSHG....and well what do you know, we made a deal, i sent my metal panel, and now he has a prototype, preview pics...

That boxer pic is from SF4 and was just a 'sample' from the creator to see how it would look. I'm putting up an Astro City theme.

Just need to confirm the fit is perfect before he starts to sell them, so anyone who wanted to change artwork on their VSHG's can do so with this plexiglass easy and without messy glue. I know the original artwork looks nice, but having your own artwork is artistic and an expression of yourself, so it's nice to finally have the option.

I'm not posting this stuff to show off or anything, simply giving other VSHG owners some options if they want it. (you're welcome!)

I'm giving one away at the event, now who to give to...hmm... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif
