It is possible to transfer replays once they are saved - they can only be saved if there is a profile signed in.

I will not run a device inline to save matches while they are being played. This could lead to lag.

 

can you split an HDMI cable from one source to 2 inputs? one for the TV display you're playing on, the other for the recording device/DVR? I know shit about how HDMI works... I know this could be done with analog cables but the quality would be bad.

 

That's doable if you have a powered splitter. If anyone brought a powered HMDI splitter and a capture device that took HDMI in, I think we could capture stuff on the fly.

 

I was talking about using my own characters and save the replays by xbox360 hard drive. Sorry about misunderstanding~
Last time I couldn't save any match coz I didn't bring either hard drive or memory card, too bad...

 

A Powered splitter is like, $60, isn't it? if everyone that is coming chips in $1-2 (or the cost is backed out of the donations you've already received) you could easily have a set up that captures on the fly and that would speed everything up! Of course, I know nothing about your capture setup but it's something to think about.

 

I'm taking recommendations for a capture device (and a splitter for that matter). I was going to buy this to make HD replays for the DVD. If there is a favorite stand-alone* HDMI capture device in the $200 to $300 range, let me know what it is.

*A PC capture card will not do. I do not want to haul my 360 to my PC whenever it's time to process replays.

 

I used a memory card to transfer some replays last year, and I never had my profile set up on any of the machines. Some of the replays worked, some of them didn't. I think it might have to do with filename conflicts.

I think trying to load your profile from a memory card during a tourney is a punk-ass thing to do . . . but if you want to bring a memory card to save replays or to load on one machine just for casuals, its at least worth a shot.
