I've put in a request to take Friday off--I'm cutting it a bit close but there should be no problems.

Talis, I'm aiming to leave Thursday night so I can get some practice in on Friday morning/afternoon and get used to the sticks. I'll probably leave Sunday afternoon. Do you think I can crash in your place inbetween?

Did I read that right? 600 dollars for a couple of rounds in VF?... thats just plain ludacris. a match that will surly end friendships if one even exists between the two.

 

As far as I know the money is to compensate for the cost they will be spending to fly to Cali. Basically, whoever wins will get the plane ticket money from the other.

The ridiculous part to me is that this is happening out of some dumb internet flame wars, and it will surely end with an ugly result regardless of whoever wins this match.


I really don't feel it. Seeing people promoting this as a rocking event leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe people have different reasons for traveling to events, but this would difinately not be my reason to travel. I'd even lean toward canceling it if I was contemplating on making it.


Of course I understand the fact that the VF scene in the U.S. is so big that we need something like this to divide up and drive away players from the scene. If not others, things like this drives myself away from the scene.

 

Honestly - Shang vs. anyone nevers seems to be pretty when he's on a tirade. I respect your opinion and I don't see Shang and Jeff's relations getting any worse from this event. I view this as an exclusive tournament with a very large entry fee. 50/50 chance of taking it all. Good odds.

I don't do much competing with prizes at stake. Once did a go-kart race for concert tickets - man, I never drove with such intensity and focus in my life. Exhilarating. I hope they find the exhilaration, too.

 

It's their money, they can do whatever they want with it.

 

personally Maddy, I think you're taking this too seriously. I don't think ANYTHING Shang says on the internet should be taken seriously. I think this is funny...

I know Jeff and Shang, and I think once they meet face to face, it's gonna be all for laughs, and a lot of screaming and bragging rights. I'm sure it's gonna end on a positive note.

I think it's good, look at the alternative: they could spend the next 2 years flaming each other about who's weak & who lost to who, talking endless uber-trash on this bbs. But they've stepped up like men and are gonna settle it in person, and I know neither of them would think of bringing any kind of real violence or bad vibe into Talis's house. The $ is nothing, it's the right to say that the other guy has to eat ass from now until death for losing.

Just read the thread and bout crapped my pants right on the spot. haha This is quite interesting!

As a frequent visitor to the site since I have joined, I am sorry to miss yet another gathering, but I will most definately make a gathering some time in the future...><

interestingly enough my flight from wuhan, china to LAX gets in on the 23rd...so close...been a year since I have been in america, so happy. =^-^=

I don't know yall, but I hope it is indeed like akiralove said, actually fighting over a game would be pretty childish, but $600...damn...haha. Well, good luck to everyone. I am sure it wont get out of hand.
