It was so fun to be able to make it out for the one night/morning I was able to! At the last minute on saturday, I decided to head to Talis' house instead of going to Gerald's, since I'd been told by Talis that Shang and Rodney wanted to see me (and I was hoping to get some more time in w/ Yosuke).

Sorry to everyone I missed because of family stuff, many of whom I've met before: Chanchai, Namfow, David, Jeff, Keenan, DRE, Joey (I wanted to re-unite our team of me, you and Andy!!!) and anyone else I'm forgetting.

I had so much fun that night, playing with:

Shang: fuck Kage, your Wolf is where it's at! Have Faith!

Rodney: too much fun, I could play 200 more games no problem!

Brian: I still don't know why they're saying Sarah's weak, seems strong to me. I think it's just that you're strong.

Alex: I think my head was somewhere else when we played, I was so distracted, we'll have to try again, but Lei Fei is tough in your hands, I still haven't figured out exactly when to Bodycheck him in 5.

Ladon: you gave me such a tough time with Shun, really hard for Wolf! Also, I appreciate what a nice guy you are. I hope your friend can use some of those replays we saved! I'd also like to see some of them

Denkai: I'd like to play with you some more, I think we were both so tired. Your Jacky is tough, a lot of spacing games. Nice to finally put a face to the name!

Plague: keep it up, thanks for having everyone over again

Catherine: Pai suits you better than Lei Fei for sure, nice to see you again.

Shag: bummed out I didn't get a chance to play with you!!! I wanna fight with Goh! I'm gonna have to get to New York and I can hang out w/ you, Rod, & Denkai again for some more fun & talk about the old days on Broadway (Le Q bitches!).

Yosuke: I didn't get those games after all, but I'm still thinking about when we played at Brian's house, so next time. Tanoshikatta deshita! I also liked hearing you talk to everyone and being encouraging. Yosuke lives outside of the stereotype of strong players who are boring, or arrogant, or non-personable. When he gives people advice, it's never heavy handed, and he always has an encouraging word. Nice Guy.

looking forward to seeing everyone again

    Bryan

Hey sup all? I just spend like 5 hours today cleaning my house (I'm talking hands and knees dusting behind the sofas clean here) it's time to grab a beer and write an awesome post.

It was awesome to see everyone again, and to meet the new faces of the VF scene. I wish I could make it to more events like this, but with airline prices a good $1000 roundtrip to and from Japan, along with a good 20-24 hours of travelling each day (from my house drive 30 mins to train station, 2 hour train to osaka, 1 hour train from osaka to airport, wait at airport, 10 hour flight) I make the trip only once or twice a year.

I think the most fun I had was Saturday night drinkin at the izakaiya in la. It's not just enough to drink as Shun, you gotta drink in real life as well! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I thought Ice-9 kept pouring me beers so I'd be hungover for the sunday tourney haha.

Plague - thanks for picking me up at riverside bus station and driving my ass around trying to find me a way back to San Diego Saturday night. Also, mad props for organizing and running the Saturday tourney. Everything went off pretty much without a hitch. It's a shame I don't think I got to play you, but even so thanks again.

Konjou_Akira - It was awesome to see you again. That was funny Saturday morning you wake up and first thing you say is "El Blaze! now!" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif It was also funny how you said a ton of the VFers were playing World of Warcraft, the distain in your voice while saying WoW made it seem like you lost some good friends to cancer. haha.

2nd place in both the Saturday and Sunday tournament ain't bad. In both the KS4 regionals, plague's tourney, and the buy.com tourney I've lost to Jacky. grr! need more practice against the j-man.

Landon - It was great meeting you and finally putting a face to the dude who was sending me PMs and posting on the Shun threads. I wish I got to see you running circles around everyone during the team tourney but I couldn't make it. Keep up the good work with your Blaze and Shun. And I still play Shun, I played him a bit at L.A.Akira's house Saturday night which was drunken fun for all. And I got my Shun to 9th dan tonight in the arcades, so don't worry - my Shun will be back to drink (and fight) another day!

Ice-9 - Good, solid Kage play. Kept to the basics, but what works works. Don't forget you can play tricky with Kage as well, he is a ninja after all! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

L.A.Akira - Thanks for letting me crash at your place Saturday night and driving me from plague's to your place and to the buy.com tourney. You have an awesome setup, weight room and arcade machine and all. That and your house kicks serious ass. I need to keep my house that clean! Blaze's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif kept jumping over your shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif haha. Keep up the goodness with Shun, everyone loves a drunken old guy.

Denkai - good shit man. You got me in the finals! You know at the end of the final 5th round you were supposed to attack instead of dodge right? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Your Jacky is strong, it's no small feet taking out konjou, ice-9, phoenixDth, and myself all in one tourney. Rest assured next time Blaze will prove that his body truely is the ultimate weapon!

Shang - Keep the flame(s) alive!

Yosuke - Good shit man. You tooled me pretty hard at Saturday's tourney, but at least I got a few good moves in there. Rest assured Blaze will be back for revenge next time!

and mad props srider, ktallguy, chanchai, and everyone else who I forgot to mention cause I'm shit with names. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

best part of the Buy.com tourney was that it was a true North American tourney.

Plague and Evo will be international and it would be a miracle if someone in America won that tourney

So official VF NA ranking is
    NY #1
    Socal #2
    Nocal #3

    in tourney play anyways

No offense to any parties involved, but how you got the "official" NAVF ranking out of this?

You didn't even have masterpo or darthKage there, and without them, it's never official. (IIRC, That one Pai had a 100+ win streak or something.)

Please show some respect to other players around NA.

Is Namflow considered part of NA? Then it would be Canada #2 no? Eh?

Also, in the team tournament two Norcal teams placed in the top 3. One of the Norcal team took out the NYC team (all three players from NYC) and a Socal team that included PhoenixDth and Ken-I, two of the highest Socal finishers in the buy.com tourney.

In the singles tournament, other than LA Akira, Socal was nowhere to be found in the top 5. Nor NYC for that matter. It was Norcal at #3, Boston at #4, and Japan at #1 and #2 (which I consider Namflow to be -- that's where he learned VF5 after all).

Don't know man it looks pretty inconclusive to me.

    The results FYI:

    Team tournament:
1st - LA Akira, Ladon, Shang (Mix)
    2nd - ice-9, Raoul, Srider (Norcal)
3rd - Ktallguy, Renzo, Yosuke (Mostly Norcal)
4th (tied) - Denkai, Rodney, Shag (NYC)
4th (tied) - Joey/Ken-i, PhoenixDth, SC Akira (Socal)

    Singles tournament:
    1st - Yosuke (Japan)
    2nd - Namflow (Japan)
    3rd - ice-9 (Norcal)
    4th - Shang (Boston)
5th (tied) - LA Akira, Ladon (Socal, Miami)

    Buy.com tournamnet:
    1st - Denkai (NYC)
    2nd - Namflow (Japan)
    3rd - PhoenixDth (Socal)
    4th - ice-9 (Norcal)
5th (tied) - Chanchai, Rodney (Oregon, NYC)
