And lastly I want to clear up a misunderstanding that Smurfy is not I repeat not coming to this Cali event. Sorry since I hate the weather there. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

 

I think 40 people is off. Only 7 people are 100% confirmed as of now, and the whole "who's going to be there" list has several unlikely people. Would it be safe to say that around 20 people are confirmed for this event at this point?



Just out of curiousity, anyone knows how many people from LA'd show up for this event? Do you have any estimation on this, Alex?


I'd like to hear from some of the probable people who posted early in this thread. What are your status, Blondie, Srider, TexasLion, Ice-9 and BK_? I am still weighing my options here so if any of you guys post up, that'd help me make my final decision.

The confirmed list in the headlines is as much a call to the SoCal players as it is to the international and out-of-state players. My best guess for a list of SoCal players includes <font color="blue">LPC73, Andy, ironJUNKIE, Exile, GoatCheeseBlues, PhoenixDth, Ken_I, DRE, </font> Catherine, Jack, Bobby, Tony, Sean(?), and myself. <font color="blue">Pushku</font> and <font color="blue">akiralove</font> would probably come too if they were not out of the county.

I agree about the "who's going to be there part." That's a list of all the people that have been to the parties at my house over the last few years. That's why it says "could make an appearance." It's a list to thank all who have made the effort and it doubles as a hype-generator. It's unlikely we'll see Kurita or Bear Crusher - and the chance of <font color="blue">BK_</font> and <font color="blue">Raging Silver</font> flying from Europe kinda balances that out. It really floors me.

This event started with <font color="blue">PhoenixDth</font> mentioning to <font color="blue">Yosuke</font> that it would be cool if he came to SoCal. Now it's exploded into a international VF bash. I am so honored that you're considering coming out for it. I'm amazed at the worldwide response.

I just got done talking with Ryan Hart. He's interested in making this event.

Couple more people from NYC are also interested.

Yosuke: I can only make one trip in the break, so if I were to go to Cali, no other trips would be made. I hope to see you in Cali.

Ok. We are in talks about perhaps bringing our FT, but how would it be set up (display, joysticks/buttons, etc...)?

This would require the understanding & patience of fellow NY vfers who will have to sacrifice FT for a weekend. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

More importantly, this would have to be OK'd by Web2Zone. (We house our setup there and they get 1/2 of the earnings.)

2nd FT thoughts

Im not sure how FT works. Im assuming its disc based.

I think AI has a 2nd Naomi 2 board. We can just let them know about that weekend. They can setup 2nd
cabinet for play. You bring the disk and bam we are you ready to play.

Probably sounds easier than it really is....where is AI tom when you need him.

-This is the known gamelist for Naomi2 GD-Rom for a quick pop' n' play

-You might have been thinking of a couple of Naomi 1 boards AI has or the hoards of atomiswaves.
-I DO NOT want to play Final Tuned on a Initial D cabinet.

So yes, sadly it is easier than it sounds. Our best chance is that if the Tao's has a spare Naomi2 GD-Rom in their warehouse, which i really really doubt. (I dont remember any of the other games on this list) Also since it is most likely we wont be able to house the NY FT disc, I think its too demanding for them to bring their actual hardware - considering what happened the last time they transported it.

My suggestion to people if you want to play FT, wake up and come earlier.

On a side note, maybe we can borrow the direct feed equipment via Techmonkey. "Yes you do get a say in this /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif /versus/images/graemlins/lol.gif"

I am so glad that everyone can make it. I can't wait to see everyone again! I just wanted to mention that I still have tons of floorspace available. Its not the most comfortable of setups, but hey, it's free. I live in Pomona, right in the middle of everything. Just pm me or post here or whatever.

My brother might be able to show for the weekend only but I don't know what his budget is and mine is tight so I can't really help him out. William is busy and Richard is busting his ass trying to build an empire.

All I know is, if I get a hotel room it ain't gonna be on the first fucking floor.

I have a Naomi 2 (w/ evo rom cart)board/amp/ I/O BUT I haven't tested it or hooked it up to a dim board & GD rom. I'm doing this trip rather than getting FT set up at the moment. If any of this equipment might help I'll bring it along but if not I'll leave it at home.
