SoCal gathering with Yosuke!! March 24th

Thanks Plague for the couch reservation and hospitality in advance.
I want to make it but I am still not sure of my schedule for now.

Heh, VF it's a great thing. I enjoy traveling to play because I get to meet new people and have a good time. (not that I haven't met socal before, but this is an execellent excuse to visit again.)

Tip to those who travel to play this game - it's about the people and the social experience more than anything else. If you have other expectations then you are playing the wrong game.

At least it's WAY in advance. That helps. I might be able to do a carpool run with some other SF doods if anyone is down. I don't have a car to pool but I can provide gas moniez.

That is, if I don't jump ship to Japan first.

Yo yo, fixing to buy airfare, if anyone could PM me the details on "where" this gathering is going to take place it would be greatly appreciated.

ATM i'm looking at getting a flight on the 22nd and staying around til the 26th late night. I will have a hotel probably and will be looking for someone wtih a car to decide to either stay with me or near me. =)

I'm guessing the event could work as follows: Evo party at my house, Friday the 24th till Saturday 7 a.m. or so. FT get-together at AI on Saturday night. Hopefully we all get together for dinner on Saturday night before going to AI.

Hotels:

If Motel 6 works for you (or anyone else, for that matter), this one is very close to my house (2 or 3 miles). For FT, Arcade Infinity is about 25 miles west of my place - it's VERY easy to get there. Only a jaunt down the 60 freeway. This Motel 6 is near AI.

Also, I still have one couch available.

talis, yosuke doesnt land untill 10pm on the 24th
which means about 10:45 after customs, luggage and driving. Not to say that friday night wont happen, but I will leave it up to yosuke depending on his condition. We got almost exactly 2 months to go!!

Also socal lacks video technology, so if anyone wants to bring a camcorder to the event that'll be extremely helpful.

 

We certainly could put the big Evo party off till Saturday night, then. Works fine as far as house preparation goes. Either way, my house will open for Evo starting whenever out-of-state players arrive.

is it a dv camera, or 8mm?

My house is also open to anyone that needs a place to stay. I have one couch and some floor space right now. We may have 2 couches by the time march 24 comes though. I live close to Ontario airport, and i'm pretty much right in the middle of everything vf. Not super close to anything, but not to far away from anything either.

thanks for prepareing the couch, but even I am not sure where I am going to stay during the days. I want to know how many people are thinking to go to los angeles on there days, and let me know which character is your main? then I guess I might have partys on friday, saturday, and sunday night....

if we ran a tournament, would people want to play Evo or FT. From my understanding, most people seem to be more comfortable with Evo play. We'll try to announce a schedule for this weekend even soon!!

 

I'm fine either way.

<font color="blue">GoatCheeseBlues</font> and I have been talking about the idea of an FT tourney at AI when they open on Sunday - put the machine on freeplay, move it into the SF3 area, etc.. When this was done for Infinity Cup 1.0, it only cost around $40 to do it. I'm thinking random-draw double elimination.

If an Evo tournament is preferred, Saturday night at my place is fine - we could even run ironman seeding for that since we should have multiple set-ups.

I've finalized my Japan plans for march:

3/5 leave for Japan
3/27 come home

I'll actually have a couple days around my arrival/departure dates where I'll be the only member of my family around, so I might be able to drag Andy out for some matches @ AI or elsewhere. I'm hoping some visitors will still be around on the 27th/28th.

Did anyone see Dobi this week?
