I was playing skate 1 yesterday, I dont know what happened, landed somewhere I wasnt supposed to or something. My screen started to shake around and I levitated into the sky as the clouds blinked on and off. I had to turn the xbox off and restart, its the first glitch I've encountered while playing.

Well I ended up getting it. Shit is fun. Has a lot of cool features too. Spot battles require you to own a spot by getting a certain amount of points. And then kill it by getting a higher amount of points. At that point I figured it would be over and done with but then it says "beat your friends score". Slaps Cozby 401 right up on the screen and his best score for that spot. Thought that was cool as shit.

Oh and I beat your score on the Alphabet spot Coz. Time to step up son!

Aside from sleep and work, I've been playing the game nonstop since it dropped, I was the first one at my gamestop and I had to wait inside the store for them to receive their delivery from UPS. I've cleared the game for the most part, found all the spots, etc. I'm trying to get my online rank up... I think I'm near 90th in best trick, <120 for jam, and like 8000th for spot battle /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I just became pro and got myself a nice phat chain for it (WOOT!) To return to what shinobifist said, flatground definitely isn't as dominanting as it was before.

I'll be sure to knock your alphabet off when I get my next chance to.

BTW I got a vid of me doing a legit Kickflip Mctwist up in The Boneyard.

In career mode, they automatically post your friends score and tell you to beat it - creating a hype endless cycle. Before, you only could see your friends score.

BTW Jo you've been knocked a notch down.

    >I found out you can cancel a handplant into another one, i.e. doing a tweak into a gymnast. If you do it late you can bail but it looks SICK if done properly.

    >In Skate1, if you placed your session marker down and attempted to warp back to it, the game had to load. Now you can warp MUCH 4MUCH MUCH farther without loading AND even if it does load, it takes less time

    >You can set multiple objects into your session. If you grab the object and mark it, anytime you warp, the objects will reset to where u marked them. So if you set up a rail gap and ppl keep knocking it down, just warp yourself and it'll be back where you had put it.

Not sure if anyone else besides Coz has it but if your having trouble working Vert ramps (like I was) heres a tip: Don't Ollie at the top of the ramp, just hold the right or left trigger while your on the flat bottom of the ramp, it gives you pretty huge air. This was something I didn't really like about Skate 2 (vert areas) and now that I understand it it's even more fun than street skating /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Yeah Jo, I learned that you dont even have to hold the trigger you can just tap it as soon as you hit ANY transition. (I used to tap up in skate1 but it doesn't work anymore.) Being an actual vert skater in reality, the physics work exactly the way they're supposed to. If you lose speed in pools or pipe's, pump up and handplant well give you tremendous speed right off of flat. The good thing about it is that you dont even have to be accurate, you can press it before or after and the pump'll still register.

To practice this, near the cruise ship, you'll find these wavy paths. You dont have to push at all to gain speed on them, you can just pump. Also there's that park in the rez that's loaded w/ tranny. In terms of velocity, Pump > Push. So don't push if you have an opportunity to pump.

This will give you the edge when playing s.k.a.t.e., you'll be able to gain more height. Take note that nollie heels flip faster than any other flip.

I won't totally discredit ollieing on vert but pumping is definitely superior for hangtime and accuracy.

In skate1, as long as you left stick down you'd spin at full speed, but now if you press left earlier or later than you pop, you won't spin nearly as fast. The way to spin fast is to smash on the left stick in either the left or right direction AS SOON AS you gain air. Those stair set 540's in skate 1 are still possible when used in conjunction with the right stick. 540's and 720's in vert are simple once this is mastered.

I just ranked Icon online w/ a gold in best trick, and silvers in jam and s.k.a.t.e. I'm ranked 40th in best trick for all time and I got 2nd for this week /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif yay for me! Now only 100 more ranked wins and I'll be a legend! Im that guy that scores mad points online and becomes a nuisance to play with. Ive gotten alot of black jokes so far

Cozby... did they change the footage upload system or anything? Also rewatching your own replays took forever in skate 1, kind of defeated the purpose of watching them in the first place. I like the changes you mentioned to the session marker system for sure.

yo dudes, thanks for playing w/ me tonight; it was fun session w/ dudes I know. Maybe we can do all the freeskate activites in the future? I need to get a mic now /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif those advanced fliptricks aren't that complicated with practice.

    Here's my old skate vid:
    <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Dv-jTgZGJk&feature=channel_page"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Dv-jTgZGJk&feature=channel_page" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>

I'll probably do another one come springtime. My style of skate is pretty odd compared to most kids of this generation; the guys I skate with are all ol' school n stuff.

LOL ShinobiFist, I hear ya man. Cozby helped me a little with my problems in that though. Doing hardflips, 360 flips and the like were really tough for me to clear the railing. But like cozby told me, you just gotta flick it reaaally quick. It'll give you more air. It's hard but do-able. Just play some SKATE mode with Cozby and you'll see, guy is stupid good at nailing everything.

But yeah, fun skating with coz and ughil last night. Game is damn fun on freeskate mode, can just skate around or load up an event. And yeah, we need some mics.

I know there's a glitch in the 360 version where if you're sponsored by Girl, you won't be able to get into the training facility.

Koston and (Caroll?) will eventually mess up on tricks but they cannot do 540s or triple flips whatsoever.

The hardest challenge for me was the backboard one. It's just annoying. Success in this game derives from patience and consistency.

I'll be getting the 360 version in a few weeks. I've been playing my bros copy on the PS3. I'm nasty in this game, the problem with those bastards is that they don't mess up at all. It took me like a hour and 30mins to beat those bastards. Once it was my turn to setup the tricks, it was a WRAP!

You guys whomped me in S.K.A.T.E hahaha, I dunno what happened to my fliptricks...it seems like all I can flick is varial kicks/heels, tre flips, laser flips and shuvs with their basic 180/360 variations. As soon as you started flicking inward heel tricks and hardflips I was hooped.

But yeah, good playing with yall and well do it again sometime soon.

I just got bit by the skateboarding bug again.

When I was younger I worried that taking a break would make me lose some fundamental technique or trick but each time I get going again I find that confidence is the component I'm missing. And perhaps skateboarding specific flexibility and conditioning. I did an hour of yoga today so I could go skateboarding tonight without pulling a hammy and that just wasn't necessary 10 or 20 years ago.

On heelflips: I used to know a guy who actually flipped them with his heel. He literally put the heel of his front foot past the midpoint of the board and kicked out. He landed them every time and it looked stupid and spastic and awesome and unique all at once.

What you want to do is put your front foot right behind the rear front truck bolts with the ball of your foot at the edge of the board so that your toes are just over the edge. Then you pop as hard as you like and tap the front toe down to get the flip. Suck your legs up to give your board room to fly and fall in love with the sound of the board hitting your feet...that sound is the true joy of heelflips and the reason I gotta go right now.

Of course I'm sure you've dialed them by now.

on topic: I played the first skate game and liked it...the control was very intuitive for this once voracious rider.

lol u talking bout me!? nah no heelies for me. However i'm pulling the FS air out higher and stomping that + my pump is insane and my ollie pop is higher. Finally can kickturn out FS and now I got FS 50-50's and Five-O's down. Currently im working on utilizing the nose on quarters (disasters), but I should probably practice nose mannies first though. My buddy can ride off a 5 ft quarter at 2 mph. It bugs me to death /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif .
