Doh... Frenchies usually suck in english, as this dude or me for example. Some other other have a fine english (erdraug & kingo maybe?) but as a rule we are awful... Our education system has some serious issues with language teaching. I didn't learnt @ school but playing video games and surfing internet.

Personally I have no problems with reading but when I must express myself it seems that I forgot all I've learnt and most of my vocabulary

 

Kingo is indeed French, albeit of Vietnamese descent iirc but I'm actually Greek /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif I just happen to be studying in Lyon since 2002 (can't apply for citizenship because apparently i have to be working full-time) But don't worry, our educational system is even worse; i have a heavy accent when i speak both English and French. I was just lucky with written English because as a teenager i played a lot of tabletop RPGs and reading all those rulebooks seems to have paid off! Ah yeah, you're greek right. My sister's BF is greek and I have a greek friend (nice girl btw), they both have a very good english so I thought english teaching was better there.
Btw I'm 25% american and have an american name but I'm awful in english... Lol.

Oh, i don't think this has to do with greeks in particular. You met those people abroad so they probably have a penchant for learning languages, otherwise they wouldn't have found the courage to leave their country in the first place /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Trust me, our forums are definetly worse: before the advent of unicode or localised cellphones we had to type with latin characters instead of using the greek alphabet and now it's become the default way to communicate on the net or by sms, i'll let you imagine what that gives /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

Well, on VFDC I don't see much typos etc but my english is poor so I may miss some errors.
On french forums, my eyes are really bleeding...Written french (like greek btw) is rather complex and difficult so it's easier to do major mistakes. Another diffculty is that we have a lot of word that have the same pronunciation but not the same spelling (IE "ei", "ai", "er", "et", "é", "ait", "ais" sound the same way in spoken french) and that leads to several confusions. "Parler" & "Parlé" each sounds exactly like the other but does not mean the same thing in any way.
On the other hand spoken french is not so hard and very monochord (no tonic accent in french)

 

I'm french and honnestly my french has a heavier english accent than my english has a french one
