This game was the highlight of the weekend for me personally. FS can't come out soon enough.

After watching the stream, it became more clear to me how much of a beast Fuudo is! Nevertheless, good game guys!

Hey guys, this is "Kisou," the fraud Goh player on stream. [IMG]

Final Showdown was easily the game I spent the most time with for the duration of the event and even though I suck, I'm looking forward to putting in heaps more time when it comes out on PSN.

Big, massive, pulsating shoutouts to Berzerk for essentially making it all possible by getting the PS3 kits down from Sega Headquarters and having it available to play for the entire weekend! The prizes and poster weren't half bad, either. [IMG]

Also big props to AlexMD for co-running the tournament and giving me FS Goh tips, even though I've probably forgotten most of them during actual play, haha. It's great to see you again after such a long time. You have a much better grasp on his changes than I could adjust to, so taking the time to answer my frequently asked questions was very nice of you! [IMG]

Nice to see the usual suspects there again, like MooseKing (exposing my fraudulent Goh in casuals), Kenny (always a pleasure to talk to - keep those hotdogs running!) and Myke (tearing things up with Kage, hope you enjoyed your stay in Melbourne!). Great to meet new faces too like the Jean, Lau and Lei-Fei guys whose names escape me and anyone else I've missed.

Lastly, I recorded a few (three) matches on my phone between AlexMD and Myke and uploaded them to my YouTube channel. 'Till next time.

I had a lot of fun playing casuals at Shadowloo Showdown with Myke and the other guys (sorry I either didn't get or I forgot your names). I hadn't played VF since the last time I posted on this forum in 2007 and only ever played VF5 when I went to friends' houses back in the day because I don't own the game myself and I'd forgotten so much of what little I knew back then but it was still awesome.

Thanks to Myke for giving me pointers and reading me info from his book of funny looking letters :p and congrats on taking 3rd place. Also, if he’s on here, thanks to the guy who taught me how to throw break after I got tossed by my head courtesy of Taka for upteenth time without breaking, those games were fun! [IMG] And of course, thanks to Berserk for getting the game to the event! I'm pumped for its’ release and am looking forward to being able to sit down and eventually learn a character properly. I hope we get a decent scene for it here in Aus. At times I felt like VF was the strange, foreign girl at school who no one wants to approah but if they sat down and got to know her, they’d see how beautiful she is inside! [IMG]

Good games guys. Now, when is VF5 FS back in Melbourne??

Big props to Berzerk for all his efforts in getting the tournament and stream going. Those Take throwing moments were funny stuff :p.

People might not be able to get a sense of it from the stream, but there was a much bigger crowd watching at the venue than any of the past VF events and they seemed to be genuinely hyped to watch the matches.Almost brought a tear to my eye.

Nice to see so many faces that I haven't seen in a long time.

Fuudo san and MOV really nice guys and were very generous with their time and knowledge despite the language barrier. Fuudo really opened people's eyes to what VF is capable of.

Kenny, El Blaze looks so much more interesting now, thanks for having those practice matches with me so we could both try and figure a few things out before top 8.

Kisou, nice to see you getting back into it, good job on top 8, you might have thought you didn't belong there but your Goh really played an important part in getting people into the game [IMG].

Gabneto, You're too smart to play Tekken man, come jump on the VF bandwagon when we start holding tournies. Would have been good to get some casuals with you but I'm sure we'll get plenty in the future.

Myke, neither of us were very happy with the outcome of our tournament matches but a little bit of salt is probably good to motivate us for future events, hope to grind it out with you online on release.

I got pretty sick on Saturday night after I left which is why I didn't make it for the finals yesterday. In retrospect I'm pretty elated to have taken a single round off of Fuudo.

I've got no qualms dropping AE to play FS when it comes out.

      Heya all,

Thanks for a great weekend. Big props to the Shadowloo crew and Berzerk for making things happen, and good games to all those I played in both tourney and casuals.

Fuudo's throw escape to end all throw escapes.... hilarious and awesome. Ryan Hart and MOV I think really highlighted the importance of good mind games and adaptability in VF, with some solid reads and good sense of flow. Myke is as always great to watch in action and scary to fight against. Thanks Alex for always playing theoryfighter with me in addition to some great games, and thanks Berzerk for the DOA5 primer. Didn't get to play Kisou this time, but we'll have a go when the game's out. Gab, you almost gave me multiple heart attacks during our game. Wickdood, great to see you still repping Blaze.

I got soundly thrashed by Ryan Hart in Top 8. Would have liked to put on a better showing, but the first thing I'm going to do when the game comes out(after dressing my characters with the family) is get throw escapes down. I've always been poor at throw escapes, so the new system is great for people like me once I can get into the habit of hitting P while holding G.

CFX, I think I'm the one who taught you the throw escape after squishing your head with Taka. Are you the guy who used Sarah against Ryan Hart in pools? Myke taught me a better way to do throw escape at the end of Saturday. You'll have to learn that one next time. [IMG]

Also, shoutouts to some of the other Melbourne players even though they may not be on this forum. Cactus, Tian and Cobi. Cobi picked up Jean really really fast, and thanks to Tian, I'm learning to respect Jacky's darn kickflip and the wierd blockstun on it.

The rest of the event was great as well. Some epic matches in the other games too, and atmosphere was amazing. Was also nice to have other players enjoying the VF stream with us even if they haven't tried VF. Hopefully we managed to convince a few more guys to give it a chance.

El_Twelve, are you Kenny? (Yeah, Hot Dog?) I didn't play in the torunament and I was trying out different characters in casuals but I never used Sarah.

I have a LOT to learn about throw breaking because I almost never seem to do it. :p Spam them against me until I learn.

      Name was barely mentioned.

Seriously though, just got home from Melbourne via road trip, tired. Really exhausted but I'm really looking forward to dropping everything in June for VF5FS.

Thanks to everyone who has been sending kind words and junk, really appreciate the support for SS2K12.

Huge thanks to Berzerk for making this happen, huge effort Dan will buy you a coffee next time i am in town [IMG]

      "Name was barely mentioned"

Sorry Mooseking, I remember when we were both waiting for FS to be set up, we were like kids on Christmas day waiting to open presents :p.

Thanks for commentating and playing those practice games with me when we both had no clue what the moves were.

Shame you always have other commitments to tear you away from VF, although I did play with your fellow player Wickdood. Hope you guys can get the Adelaide scene past the two person mark [IMG].

CFX: Yep, I'm Kenny. Sorry I think I got you mixed up with one of the other guys. I have to improve my throw breaking too, so here's to much more throws for the both of us! :p

Just rewatching the stream, and it's pretty awesome. Moose, your commentary has improved from last year. It was already pretty good, but this year everything seemed to come together better, with more banter on the general match flow and less on specific play-by-play. I think it works out pretty well that way.

Only a while more to release. Damn Shadowloo has made me hyped.

coolest thing I have ever seen in VF, the crowd was actually getting hype over VF for once

Love watching the stream last weekend and glad to see VF5:FS in action and the hype it generated overall. Congrats to both Ryan Hart and Fuudo for that final (heh regardless of Shun's drinking Ryan should've waited in that round though), and good games all round from the other players (Iron Mike and the rest) and the event itself was a good selling statement to market the game to consumers/gamers once its eventually released this summer.

And i take it that'll be this; June/July as the summer start within the 3rd week of June or so.

Going to have to level up on VF5 vanilla until that happens. Hell i'll still play vanilla even when VF:FS out, as its all VF goodness at the end of the day.

      Yay for Sega blog post!

Unfortunately, if Ryan sat back and let Fuudo drink, even if he won the round, the remaining rounds he would have been up against Shun with ridiculous bonus drink damage. It was a worst case scenario, brilliantly set up by Fuudo.

Only just checked this and remembered my username, GGs to those i played over the weekend and release is coming soon so leveling up time soon [IMG]
