    Re: Sarah wiki side note

Playing defensively gets me nowhere, because there's never an opening for me to get at him offensively. His combos literally never end as long as he keeps mashing. Even when I think the combo is over, I let my block down and am met with a kick to the face. I'm forced to constantly be on the defensive to survive, which just ends up in him pushing me out of the ring/into a wall, or my health getting whittled down over time due to his multi-level attacks. It seems that no matter what I do, he is always at advantage while the player behind the controller is mashing the buttons and there's never a break for me to interrupt.

Not to be mean cause I want you to win but, you really aren't given me any useful information on your problem other than repeating there is no way to get around the other Lei Fei player's "mashing".

    Let's look at mashing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

You can use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to score a counter hit for a down attack, you can also evade it and punish him, low punch. Yes blocking the whole thing doesn't help you because he isn't at disadvantage when he gets into stance. But even if you block it you can still try jab and low kick to beat the stance.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is basically the same deal, except here low kick is even better if you block since it will beat him weither he does bokutai or not.

The whole thing most people need to understand is they have to make the defensive choice correctly when you see the hai shiki stance. If you blocked his entry into the stance chances are you can low kick or jab him out of his follow up. If you got hit you need to evade or guess the block.

Another thing is you can backdash away and punish him when he whiffs going into those stances with moves like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

Yep, Unsafes right. Just use good ole defense. I tend to switch it up from defense to CD'ing ~ backdash in and out in (sometimes feeble) attempts to bait whiffs or stance shifts. Depending on what whiffs, ill use 4K+G, elbow ~ knee/FL, or 33K. Most of the time i am successful, sometimes i am not.

If he is mashing, then evade. I kill mashing Lei Feis with evades into : throws (especially with stance shifts), elbows and/or lows. I like to throw out K,P when i know a string is coming for a CH combo.

Hi, first post here (aside from the welcome thread) I'll try and make it a good one.

    Sarahs main weakness (I find, especially when I play against other Sarahs) is she can be very VERY predictable. One basic rule of thumb is;

DON'T USE FULL 4 HIT strings! (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, that sort of thing)

Unfortunately Sarah telegraphs these strings from a mile away, but the solution is easy, don't use them. Use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, pause, then do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead. Remember, human reaction time is around .3 second, if you don't do what they expect and keep a good flow going, chances are your next attacks (as long as they differ from the last attack in your last string)will connect.

Going into Flamingo when your opponent is under pressure works wonders for me as well, from there you won't need to block (they're on the defensive after all) and used well Flamingo has a lot of different attack options.

Sarah against Lei-Fei, correct me if I'm wrong but Lei cannot lock in any of his non default stances. One of those stances (with the back hand raised) has an automatic counter against any arm attacks.

Against Lei, what I tend to try to do is keep away, and when he switches stance, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to cover the distance. Once close, use everything to keep him off balance. Mix up high punches, which will either

    a) Make him block, leaving him open for throws
    b) Duck, which will leave him open to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif which if he attempts to block will leave him open to a throw after the second hit anyway.

Actually one thing I've found against DOA fighters, high punches cause them to block low instinctively... Punish them!

With these strategies I have reasonable success against Lei, well, against most characters actually.

The problem here though is if you keep too much distance, you allow a gap for the other guy to do charge attacks, Lei's/Wolfs crazy charge attacks catch me off guard or stagger me a lot of the time, because I've given him the space for them to use it.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

    After last night...

I fought 5 Aoi players in a row (dumb luck, or more like a curse? lol)-- and got my butt spanked by every last one of them. If anyone has any good advice/strats vs. Aoi, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

I mainly just try to keep space against Aoi, and make sure not to do something stupid like come at her head on. (Eat that kick every time I try)Then I either bait a ch as she comes in, or hit her with something that'll let me pressure her with flamingo mixups etc once Aoi is in close.

What exactly was beating you? What moves were they using?

The cancels? Ten Chi In You stance? Reversals?

    There's too much to cover.

Mix up your hit levels and look at your habits and guess either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif. Of course the Aoi will mix up the ground throw direction, but just think a head of player, call the bluff. It's 50/50 so it isn't that bad.

i'm currently trying to build a game vs goh, but his 46k sabaki is just too hurtfull, what proper mids/other type of tactics can sarah use to pressure goh and stop him "abusing" his k sabaki?
6p doesn't have the range i need at all times, 6k is a very situational move and unsafe ofcourse, so not something to thow out everytime, 46k has about the same range as 6p as far as i know.
i'm a bit at a loss with this matchup.

    Re: Sarah wiki side note

There are several options although no universal beat-them-all option. Gohs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif doesnt sabaki Knees, punches, elbows or low kicks.

    You can try
-hit him out of it with a suitable attack of the other type, such as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif etc

    - The sabaki window of the kick is at frames 1-14, so theres a 5 frame window before the kick actually hits (frame 19) where you can hit him with anything. Delaying your attack enough allows ou to interrupt him soundly (you can also train to react to the kick). Delay /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif might be good, I havent had that much trouble with the sabaki kick myself really, so I havent tested all the stuff that works.

    - Gohs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a sidekick so you can sabaki it yourself with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as long as you start later than Goh.

    - you can evade and punish, or just use DM+PK

Normally if you have trouble with range, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif(/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif)
