I have tried worldwide on PSN and with my suspect connection I can tell alot of the matches were going to be really bad before I played them but I did get a few really good connection with 2 bars quite a bit too. I will try it in live the next time I play on 360 though to.

Is worldwide better on PSN or live for those of you that played around with both of them

I started same area but I was sick of playing the same lames over and over. So now I play world wide. I have like 70 rank games played. How the hek some people already have over 500 games? Lol geez

I'm pretty sure that they have it coded by what region your console is. I have the PS3 and 360 versions, and I own a US PS3 and a JPN 360. When I do 'same area' on my 360 it tries to connect to people in Japan and Asia, so I have to choose 'worldwide' to play people in the US. On the PS3 this was the opposite.

I alternate between same area and worldwide. no issues both ways. I'm happy that I can find people to play with any time (lunch after work, occasional late nighter lol)

For some reason I cant find any matches when I pick "same area" but I do find matches when i choose "worldwide". Im kinda impressed that the matches run so smooth worldwide.

Beeing from germany I rarely find any matches in "same area". Today i found a few. And even some in player matches. Usually I just go worldwide though. The connection if usually flawless or at least decent. Just had very few really laggy matches.

Do we have a thread for european PSN and XBL yet?

I usually go with "Same Area" when I go online. Often encounter some lags when playing.

I havent had any same area matches yet. Worldwide connects straight away with a challenger.

Mmmm. After a few days, I think I might stick to Same Area. Can't seem to find any others with even a 1 bar connection.

i find it odd that i pick Worldwide and i can still be matched up with the same person 3 times or more in a row. anyone else experiencing this?

not that i mind. its nice to play with the same person a few times in a row usually.

also, sometimes it takes like 20-30 seconds to find a match at all. my internet connection isnt fantastic, but its not horrible either.

wonder what the deal is with that?

I would prefer the same area from now on, because of my internet service. Comcast has a nice speed rate, but in exchange, it's inconsistent.

It seems to be better as I got alot of same area matches outside Ranking last night.

Usually this is because you show back up in the list, and the player is choosing you again.

I'm using Worldwide now (zero matches in Same Area), and the netcode is really.... really.... good.

Like... 10x better than SSF4. I think I was playing either Europeans or Americans, and the lag was very tolerable. Seems like I'll be able to play online a lot more now.

With SSF4, I pretty much can't play anyone except Jpnese. And even then the lag was horrendous 1/2 the time.

Newfoundland doesn't seem to have a local scene, so Worldwide has been my only option. Netcode is pretty damn good by my standards.

SAME AREA - determines by your region of PSN ID (not region of the digital content VF5FS (PSN Store), not your physical IP).
And "area" is a country (i.e. UK players, Russian players, EU players - are different "area" and not found themself)
=> Want to play with your countryman, play VF5FS from your country PSN ID.

WORLDWIDE - all players in one place, not determines by any factors, already the same for all players.

SAME AREA is NOT included in WORLDWIDE: two countrymen, one with "worldwide" , second with "same area" will never meet; they will meet only when both will have IDENTICAL Matching Range! Its an issue, because Worldwide guys must see Same area guys.

RESUME: if you want to meet many good VF players with good connect - just always set Matching range on WORLDWIDE (and no matter what are your PSN ID region, VF5FS game region, physical IP - they do not affect on matchmaking)!
