GG's guys, Konjou you put up a great fight and I'm proud of you! Not many people can get 11 wins on Denkai (I know I can't, and certainly not SDS) Would love to see more of this in the future, Konjou Akira fighting!

Denkai is my man. [IMG] Such a gentleman too for giving his winnings to Konjou, simply amazing. [IMG]

    No ban! [IMG]

GGs guys. It was nice fights and nice hype, even though lots of people said that the stream was choppy for them. Maybe try lowering the picture quality next time somehow if it would help? I dont know much anything about streaming.

GG's to these two and i was watching lmao!!! i was there to witness it first hand and it was exciting albeit a bit late. 2 VF giants getting it in for the sake of VF trash talk. Shoutouts to Denkai, Tricky,CidKid, Stan the Hardhead and Konjou. Been the most fun i had in VF for a minute. Great times for the Love of VF. You can Learn a Lot from a Axe-kick.

I was pretty ill yesterday so had to shoot off straight after the first to 20, they were fun matches to watch though. Rod I felt you lost most of those matches because of your Lei, no idea if you feel the same.

The Tricky vs Denkai matches were fun too [IMG]

Nice games. I had a feeling Denkai would use Kage.

Wish I could have been there to join in the first to 20 festivities : (.

I went through just about the same situation as Beligerent_Feck. I had to leave around a little after 6pm ET and didn't get back until after 10pm ET. But everything was over by then.

Thanks to everyone who organized and participated in the event. It was fun to watch you guys perform live under the pressure of a viewing online audience.

All the fights are on Rodney's Twitch tv account. Right now. It's choppy there though, so I'm hoping the fights he uploads to Youtube won't have the choppy issue.

GG's to denkai, (didn't get a chance to fight Rodney), Overfiend, CidKid for showing me some lei-fei match up stuff, Stan.

Commenting for you all during the fights was actually a lot of fun, I do see now why streams typically have two people doing commentaries though. It allows for there to be a dialoge between the two of them.

THe long set with Denkai was probably one of the most lvling up I've done in a set. That was also more wins I've ever gotten against him than any of our online matches, so i felt real good about myself afterwards. Rodney in the background streaming not to drop those combos, and to mix it up more was definitely helpful. The dropping combos was stream nerves, but the mixup more was legit helpful in reminding me when I fell into a groove.

Ok I just wanted to provide an update on this and my feelings on the whole event.

First off there will be no further footage from my end. The footage I recorded came out very choppy like the stream so I just don't see the point in capping it and then upping it to Youtube. There are a few matches that were ok, but overall it just came out terrible and is just not worth any further effort.

    Feedback on the stream:

Well I learn a lot... for starters my PC can't stream and record at the same time. From what I read in the channel chat room, the stream was running well and only fell a part when I started to record. Since NYC and team SwitchNation plans to stream a lot of our sessions in the future finding this out now was a good thing for me.

I've already figured out how I am going to fix the problem. I'll simply pick up another Aver capture device and install it into one of the spare computers I have laying around and use that computer to record. The main video / audio feed for the Xbox is running through a HDMI splitter that can split 4 ways so this works out perfectly.

Lastly, commentating is hard work! While I tried to commentate a bit it was very difficult trying to find the right things to say. For the next to nothing I did it was a lot of fun and I'd like to do it again. I'll try and practice a little on my spare time for FS.

    Feedback on my matches:

Well I don't know how I can say what I have to say without sounding a little salty, so I'm just gonna say it. I'm not mad I got beat, but I really felt that the cards were stacked against me on the day of the event. Overall I just was not happy with my performance and I'll tell you all why.

On that day I got up a little earlier than normal, cleaned my home and ran through some VF drills before Denkai got there. I did the drills because I wanted to ensure that I was completely focused on VF and would do the things I know I needed to do to win against Denkai's style.

When Denkai arrived I was excited, ready to play and really had tons of confidence. I thought shortly after he warmed up we could play at the time scheduled. He opted to have an audience, which I thought was silly considering there were many people already watching the stream. I didn't want to be a bad host or complain, so we decided to wait for CidKid and anyone else who was coming.

For all who watched and waited I'm sure you can agree with me that things took a very long time and in my opinion way to long to start. It took so long that Denkai was able to warm up for 1 hour plus with Tricky while I got cold and overall started to lose my focus.

The next event which sped up my downward spiral was some family members unexpectedly showed up. While I'm not ashamed of being a 38 year old man playing VF with a bunch of people, I really was not in the mood to entertain my family in this way. Eventually I lost most of my desire to play at this point and knowing that it was fading I was doing everything I could to drop hints to my family without being disrespectful that I wanted them all to leave so I can get to my challenge. They ended up staying for about 45 minutes which now gave Denkai almost a 2 hour warm up. Feeling really bad that people on the stream had been waiting so long I kind of put my family in one of those situations like " hey I'm gonna go over here and do this... are you guys staying or leaving? " I think they got the hint, gathered their things and left.

At this point with next to zero focus I now had to rush and try to get warm again. After a few matches with Yesmaster I just told myself to go for it even though I knew I was no longer ready. I definitely knew Denkai would use Kage against me, but I didn't expect him so soon. I knew to start things off I had to use a character he wasn't used to me playing and Eileen was perfect. I almost pulled it off, but for anyone looking at the match they could see the fear in me. If you were in the room you probably could have felt it. I wasn't afraid of Denkai or losing. I was afraid of me second guessing myself, having doubts because when you second guess yourself you hesitate and hesitation is a really bad thing in VF on a high level.

My Eileen had the first match won, but I choked in the end. The next few matches of Lei vs. Kage I had some of those won as well, even going up a 2 round lead a few times to lose 3 rounds straight. I knew I was hesitating when Denkai did Kage's 6K+G two times in a row and I got hit by the second one. This actually happened again in a Kage vs. Akira match when my back was to the wall. The 6K+G wall splat me which allowed Denkai to pull off one of Kage's best combos and come back and win that round which he was losing. Actually he only needed to be hit once or twice and I would have won the match. If I'm not mistaken, he actually came back that round and the next to take the match.

Finally the Shun vs. Akira matches bothered me the absolute most and I'm sure Denkai will agree with me here. Our Shun vs. Akira matches are NEVER this one sided and Shun gimmicks (from USA players) do not work on me. I made it a priority of mines to break that fucking character down after the JHow madness. The last time me and Denkai played that match up which was only 1 week or less before the challenge I won the first 5-6 games in a row and held him at no more than a 3 game win streak for hours. I'm not mentioning this to brag because yes in the end it doesn't matter. I'm mentioning it so everyone understands just how well I know the match up. Since my nerves were a mess that day I think I fell for every Shun trick in the book and knew it was over when I got caught by his stance throw.

I spoke with Denkai afterwards and I wanted to do a salty run back rematch. We had set a date for the following weekend, but when I woke up the next day I learned yet another valuable lesson and decided that I would just take my loss as a man. The lesson I learned? Never let your guard with anything you passionately care about in life, when the prize is within your sites or within your grasp never lose focus and maintain your mental toughness at all times, THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN BREAK YOU... IS YOU!

I learned a lot of other lessons as well and finally saw as bright as day what all the holes are in my game. After seeing the holes I needed to patch up I know that when FS comes out I will be a far better player.

Again guys my gripes are not complaints. I'm a person who definitely feels a lot more than the average person and I'm not afraid to share them with people. I care more about VF than you guys could probably understand. This game has taught me many lessons and has introduced me to some of the most amazing people from all walks of life.

Anyway, VF is gone! I returned the disk to it's rightful owner since I shredded mines a while back. My focus is on FS right now and it is there I will have my revenge and take on all new challenges.

I am playing SF3SO as a fighter right now, so if anyone wants to play then hit me up. I'm definitely not having as much fun as I did with VF, but it feels really nice at the moment to play something else and not care so much about it. Maybe now I can finally get around to playing all those games I've put on hold since VF5 for Xbox360 has been released. Yesterday I was playing Space Channel 5 part 2 and man I'm loving that game. I was a huge fan of the first one. [IMG]

Interesting write up Rod, never knew all that was going off while we were watching the stream. A lot of us did wonder why you didn't get more warm up time though [IMG]

I've wanted you to get more warm ups honestly. If you really wanted to play before Cidkid showed up I would've. I wanted you to warm up on Cidkid more but you forgot to mention just how much of a distraction "cough cough" Yesmaster was. lol

Online play is worse than I first originally imagined it to be; even under the best possible connection. It just doesn't feel the same..AT ALL, not even remotely. I can anticipate/react to 0 frame throws soooo much better offline. I wouldn't mind a salty runback if that's what you want to do. A win doesn't seem much of a win when you have a lot of reasons to claim you couldn't even play at your best.

I did want to warm up playing with CidKid, but the stream was already hours behind schedule and I just wanted to get it over with. I felt everyone had waited long enough.

And I'm not trying to take anything away from your win and apologize if that's how my post came off. I discuss some of these things with you which is why I felt it was ok to post my thoughts. In the end the outcome would have probably been the same, but what hurts or bothers me is that I just wasn't playing my best. I can accept losing, but it's hard to swallow when you know it wasn't your best performance.

I did want to do a salty run back, but like I said in my post I shouldn't have drop my guard no matter what so I feel it's unnecessary to do a rematch.

And yeah, offline play is definitely a lot better than online. As we discussed a few times the majority of our FS time in NYC will be played offline. Maybe after the game comes out me and you can regularly do FT20 on let's say a bimonthly basis? We have always had a hidden rivalry anyway since the VA / WCG tournaments so why don"t we just make it official and make the time we are going to be playing FS even more enjoyable? One thing me and you have always agreed upon is that the VF community definitely needs more rivalries. *sigh* I remember the good old days when NYC and Florida had rivalry.

I had a rival but he stopped plying a long time ago.

The last time I played him was just before WCG when he got beat by Krye. Think he plays SF2 now.

Closest thing to a rival I have now is Marly. He's the Frazier to my Ali. :p

Oh? We can start that back up!

    SwitchNation is garbage etc.
Denkai and Konjou can't win without top tiers which is why they pick Lei, Kage, Shun and Lau.
