    A Wolf video!

My Wolf sucks (as you can see by the rank and record) so I really need help with him. Even though I won this match I'd like some comments on what moves I should use and any tactics against Shun. I did pretty good here but I know I can improve a lot more.

Hi, one quick thing I noticed in round 1 (00:32) you did pk hit and then didn't follow up accordingly, you backdashed when you had advantage,
choice between screwhook or throw , there are other options but those 2 are the staple choices until they do other things /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
p.s If it was just an input error my bad

It's always good to throw out moves at a distance just as long as you don't get stuck in the attack or throw animation. I noticed when you threw out 9 p+k you were at a distance and in the air when you threw it out so they countered you. I throw this out really close and on opponent get up only, its a good close up pressure tactic. Other than that your Wolf has a pretty good flow and you take advantage of the 3,3 P+G (diagonal throws are always the hardest to escape).

Thanks for the advice guys. Here's my latest vid, against a Goh player. A little background on this guy; he's one of the regulars in Monte Carlo, and actually has a total of 13 cards! His Goh is one of his lower-ranked cards, so even though he's only a 4th dan, his tactics and yomi is just way above a regular 4th dan imo. The fact that he could read me so easily in the last round is evidence to that. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

    Hi again,
From your clip I would recommend you use more screw hook, you were in up close situations like near the end of last round and if you used it more I'm sure you will be successful (it's fast 14 frames, half circular), give it a try it's one of wolf's best moves /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Wolf is so strong in VF5 with lots of really great power attacks. However, I believe he should still be played as a throw-based character--you play Wolf a bit like you would play Lion. I'd say go for throws and low throws a lot more than you had in this clip.

Hey Reno! yeah Optimus is right. You really should use his screw hook. I don't think the Goh player was reading your moves, but rather capitalizing on the simple fact that you use too many highs. If you look back, all he did was get in your face and let you throw out moves while he just walked around you or ducked. I know using throw types are fun for there brut power, but what good is a throw when they are not scared to duck? Take a look back and see how many highs (throws included) you did in a row, in the first few rounds. Then take a look at how much damage you did once you started using mids like, 6k etc. Oh and one more thing. If you see that they are ducking a lot, you can use your stone cold stunner, 4G+K, G+P. that’s a nice chunk of damage. Take care. See you when you get back.

also, low throws are really strong in VF5 especially for wolf.

Thanks for the Wolf comments! I'll try to implement screw hook more into my game, as well as more throws. Hopefully I'll have more success in future matches against this bastard!

Latest replay... I actually accidentally saved this replay over a ranked match replay, so that's what you're getting today lol A bit of a throw away match because it was against a non-card player. Whenever I play non-card people I tend to experiment more and see what things work and don't work, so I can use them for ranked matches. You'll see that I try a lot of OM after I tech roll and such... and different throws from the usual. As always, comments are welcomed.

this is a match between danny13 and I. He showed up randomly in Osaka yesterday (just arrived) and I was shopping for my family. This was the last match we had against each other, and he whipped me fairly good in every match we had, even though I won a couple. Really good player. Looking forward to playing him again!

Last video for a while as I'll be in Canada for Golden Week.

Lol. It's funny to watch Saruman ringing out himself from wolf's throw.

Hey, when you download these clips from VFnet, do you have to pay? I wanted you to help me register the last time but nevermind.

    Keep these matches coming!/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

danny: you have to pay about $6 per month to be able to download movies from VF.net. Otherwise, you can only use VF.net on PC and not have any replay downloads. If you want, you can send me your card and I can add you to my account, but then your name will change to mine, so I don't know if you want that to happen. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Destro: Okay, it's on!

Ogi: ah yeah, I always make a mistake whenever I type his name, haha. The match itself wasn't all that spectacular but it was funny when he got a ring out from his own throw. Even he laughed at it!

    Reno vs Destro Part 2

To his credit, Destro did win quite a few games. He's more technically sound than I am, able to pull off really good combos that I can't even do with Wolf, and he can get off Wolf's 270 throws at will when I still have trouble executing them after all these years. But this match was just too funny not to upload. It's like he was no-selling every pedigree! Who do you think you are Destro, Shawn Michaels!? haha.

Can I claim temporary retardation? No? Ok, ok, you got me that match, but I had it coming, cause you got that ass handed to you the three matches prior. I definitely have to work on my throw escaping, and my stagger and ground recoveries. I don't even think I remember how to roll back. Argh. Oh well.
