Lei's p6pp combos on CH. He probably still gets advantage, which is sweet. Excellent for guaranteed punishment.

It still slams, but not on normal hit anymore.

Reno, can you tell me if her new P+K has some sabaki property ?
I still can't figure out after watching movies when this move actually lands. I know it juggles on CH, has the sound of a sabaki but not its animation when I saw it seemed deflecting knee or kicks.

Version B 33P combo practice. Basically Taka can do 50% combos on anyone off of 33P now. The downside is that the launcher is rather slow, so it's best used as a attack whiff/evade whiff punisher than anything else.

    <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pGU52knPAtk&fmt=18"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pGU52knPAtk&fmt=18" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>

    Combo 1: 33P, 1PP, 43PP, 46P (up to Lion/Shun)
    Combo 2: 33P, 33P+K, 1PP, 46P (up to Lion/Shun)
    Combo 3: 33P, P, 4PPP (Anyone)
    Combo 4: 33P, P, 4PP > P+K+G > P+K (up to Blaze)
    Combo 5: 33P, P, 6KP > P+K+G > P+K (up to Blaze?)
Combo 6: same as Combo 2

    I've added some subtitles to this fight as a way to experiment with fight commentary. The timing is a bit off right now but I'll fix that when I have time. There is also a Japanese subtitle track but my Japanese is crap so I have no idea if it's good or not. ^^;

Put this video together to try out Sony Vegas, and aside from some timing issues which I will work on later, I think it came out decently.

Nice stuff man. You probably could have tightened some of the scene transitions so that post-combo action didn't show but that's just a minor nitpick!

Btw, you have way too many online handles (reno, itsumobasho, oichi, what else???)

    Finally got into titled ranks!

    <object width="560" height="340"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zNfRTANDFa4"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zNfRTANDFa4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="560" height="340"> </embed></object>

It FINALLY happened! I'm really happy about this because it took such a damn long time to get up to this rank due to cherry-pickers and the fact that I don't play a lot of games. On average I probably play 4 - 5 times a week, but only for 4 or 5 matches per day, so my improvement with Taka has been much slower than would have been had I played longer sessions.

Anyway, here is my match breakdown!

    Round 1:
After the missed [2][P] by Wolf, I anticipated an evade, so I tried [3][P], but obviously Wolf wasn't having any of that. After he countered my rising attack, I figured he was going to go for Burning Hammer (a common setup for Wolf players) so I ducked. A common setup I have with Taka now is to do [2][P] and on hit or block I'll back dash into [P][+][K], which works very well. Obviously this is a common setup with other characters but for some reason I have better success with this when I play Taka because his headbutt seems to have really good range. Almost too good.

    Round 2:
I really should have punished him better when he went for [6][3][2][1][4][P][K]. Letting him get away with just a [2][P] counter was a really stupid move on my part. I have the same problems whenever I play against Jacky or Lau and I block their [6][P] and I duck the follow-up. Taka's [P][+][K] really fucks them up if they don't hit confirm but I was kind of on nerves during this match. I I missed the combo opportunity here when I did [4][1][2][3][6][P] here. This combo is a little hard to confirm because it only floats on attack counter to my knowledge. Any other hit it will force crouch.

    Round 3:
I was actually in the middle of a long series with this Wolf player, and because of that he read my habit of relying on catch throws a lot, hence the ducking in this round. In earlier matches I punished this by using a crouch throw in situations where I'd normally use a catch throw, but didn't really do that in this match. Luckily, even though this Wolf player is several ranks higher than me, he didn't really punish my mistakes with the missed catch throws.

    Round 4:
I was really lucky here when he hit the knee and I teched in time to get him with [6][3][2][1][4][P][+][G]. The [4][G][+][K] at the end would not have been guaranteed if the Wolf tech rolled, but if he does tech roll two situations occur: If he tries to attack out of tech roll, my attack will win out, and that move does a shitload of damage on counterhit. If he blocks it, then I can throw out pretty much anything, because on block the move is +8. I usually do catch throw in that situation though, since I don't think a lot of people realize the situation on block. They will now though, since the data was just published in Arcadia lol.

FYI I have no idea what the fuck those ghosts are on the screen. It's related to VF.net but I haven't bothered to look up what they're for. I think they're related to the webgame you can play online.

Re: Finally got into titled ranks!

Wow that is cool as hell. Taka Arashi's rising attacks are punch class attacks so Wolf can low punch cut reversal the low rising attack. I noticed that Taka's rising attacks were punches before but it never entered my mind to use low punch cut (though it might eventually have entered my mind had I had access to 5R).

I guess a popular way to beat low rising attacks against other opponents in VF5/5R is to use uf+p+k (which has been improved in 5R) as Wolf. But, just a wild guess here, because Taka is so massive, the damage potential off of uf+p+k is very low so Wolf players can use LPC instead and try for shining wizard. This reversal only works because Taka's rising attacks are punches.

I know Taka has his own weight class, meaning weight specific combos, but this is another unique thing that AM2 has done for him (providing that no other characters have punch class rising attacks) to make the match different.

It's a shame at just how amazingly deep VF5R is that it is limited to just Japan.
