One thing i think might make "soccer" more interesting would be the eliminations of offsides. If an athlete trains harder to run faster last longer to isolate himself and the goalie past the defense at the 75 minute mark, i believe he deserves it. If someone also has the great passing ability to do the same, i would admire that as well. It would be the basic NBA equivalent of a fast break, and it would allow a greater chance for late game individual heroics. Regardless if people argue that offsides is an incorrect way to play soccer, i definately would find it much more entertaining to watch for the full 90 minutes.

Interesting way to put it, but when I imagine no offsides in football/soccer, I imagine an offense player camping down the field and lots and lots of lobbing going back and forth. I find the excitement of a fastbreak occurring in a perfectly executed onside attack.

However, as hard as it would be to judge, a timed offsides rule might be cool--something like offsides having 2 or 3 second leeway. This would probably be impossible to call in an official game without using video and delayed calls, but a player would be considered onside if he was in breach of traditional offsides rules for less than 2 or 3 seconds. If it was possible to regulate, it would still encourage forward play by both teams and enable a few more breakaways, but it would probably change almost everything about offside-trap plays.

BTW, I personally hate shootouts, but the game has to end at some point. Allowing more subs during extra time would be nice though (as much as the team with the greater stamina should probably win when a game goes to extra time--then again, look at the World Cup Final... of course Italy had a good defense and an amazing keeper).

Oh jesus, man! Were you into Street Fighter 3 when this was going on!?! Haha, as a side note...earlier tonight I was drunkedly showing off that VF3tb video poster earlier when I recalled this vid. The Chibita vid isn't close to this one IMHO....but yea...this vid is like classic to me. I'm not even nearly close enough to SF3 to "get" this vid...but it still rings true to me. Damn, all I'm trying to say is that it must've been amazing to understand the magnitude when it was going on! Haha ^.^

I wish I'd been there to see that. Man, I still get chills when I watch that clip. I never really played any incarnation of SF3 but I totally get it, anyway. Kinda like finishing with single-palm (wall stagger) -> SPoD (wall) -> knee.

The Daigo / Justin Wong 3S vid from evo2K4 owns on so many levels. I think it totally revitalized the 3S scene in the U.S.

I spent last weekend watching Hayao (Hugo player) clips on YouTube, man he's too good.

Here is a clip from SBO3 where Ricky Ortiz and Justin Wong face off against Hayao's teammate Kuroda. (Q player). Justin's infamously known for his turtle style but gets impatient and outplayed by Kuroda.

That was a great match too. I read that he timed out because of his MvsC2 playing friend had that happened to him by that guy...anyone know anything more about that situation, or is that it? Seems kinda interesting, hearing about some "bad blood" stuff.
