Came across a really good Lion player, name was Jinks87 or something like that. He totally destroyed me every fight, which rarely happens to the degree that it did here. I invited him to join VFDC, so maybe we'll see him around.

GGS to Libertine for the couple that we managed to play. Would definitely like to play you more - I've always assumed Brad to be a weak character because I've never encountered one that didn't just die to constant abare barrages, but you showcased him well, and I think we'd have some really close games.

GGs to BrodiMAN, for continuing to challenge me even though I was winning each of the games, to the point where you lost rank (for which I feel bad). It's strange, your movement and defensive techniques are far greater than mine - watching you box-stepping and fuzzying and all that, it really made me feel kind of noobish, but you need to work on being more aggressive. I know it's probably intimidating trying to attack Jacky since he's always arsing around with some kind of string, but I was getting away with a lot of minus frames without you pressuring with an attack, say after guarding my heel drop or something. It allows me to throw attacks at you all day, instead of having to fear all your offensive capabilities. If you noticed, the rounds you won were your most aggressive ones, where you kept me locked down with that Flamingo stuff, cancelling and going into sweeps etc to keep me floored.

GGs to you as well and thanks for the advice. But, staying aggressive against a Jacky (especially yours) is easier said than done. You seemed to be able to get away with alot of abare, or atleast that what it seemed like. I was getting nailed by stuff that I swear you shouldn't have been able to get in. Add in your delays, constant movement, and overall good play with Jacky, and it's attack at my own risk.

Either way, good games, I'll challenge you every chance I get.

    Hello. Cool website...
I don't win that way usually but I was playing pretty good. It is funny to see that I am mentioned couple times already. Some good and some bad...

First of all, belated GGs to BrodiMAN; thanks for the compliment bro, I work very hard to try to showcase Vanessa to maybe inspire somebody else to pick her up as well (though I wouldn't go so far as to say she's an overlooked character at all). I dunno that much about Sarah but does using multiple single kicks from Flamingo yield more damage in a combo or were you just practicing something else? I kinda missed seeing the flashy and demoralizing combos Sarah can pull off. Lol

GGs to Fugassami: It's always a pleasure to cross fists with his Akira. I learned a few new tricks since our last match but he didn't stay stagnant either. That guy's oki was incredible!

GGs to VaneKBM: I think I played him before but I'm not sure if Jean was his main or not. Either way it was a heated two matches and I learned a lot that I could apply to Jean as my secondary character. It's a shame my connection went south after our second match cause I would have liked to play some more matches.

All in all I can feel my Van is getting stronger from meeting up with FameDouglas' group and sparring with Piccolo and others here; though I feel I would really like to play with other people that use Vanessa and discuss theory and what not.

Are you talking about the single kick I would throw out upon entering Flamingo? No, there is no extra damage, but that kick is massively safe/advantageous if the opponent doesn't duck or side step (+4 on guard, +5 on NH, +12 on CH.....+12!!!). It's usually safe for me to throw it out after entering FL as most ways to enter FL are already plus on block as well and the kick is only 11f. I'm really just fishing for counters and hoping you'll eventually duck, as ducking versus FL is a good way to lose half of your life.

Your Vane is mad aggressive. You do a good job of showcasing her psychotic, rushdown, murder-everything-in-sight fighting style. Keep it up :D

GGs Libertine. Nice to fight someone who breaks down my shenanigans and punishes me hard if I get predictable. Your Brad definitely hits like a truck when you land a launcher lol.

Fun set, particularly with how the mind games evolved as we went along. It was nice to be able to use some of my more obscure setups.

One thing to remember for next time is my 3PP second hit is high, similar to Jacky's beatknuckle, and I'm sure Brad has a nice punish available if you crouch it.

Nah I meant you did a juggle combo by repeating the first kick in a string several times while in Flamingo, then finishing with something like the somersault. I can't imagine that being easy so I was wondering if there was some deeper purpose.

Heh yeah, her bag of tricks is huge and it's satisfying in both damage and CRUNCH value! I'm really looking forward to seeing how Van will change in the future games (cause Vanilla to FS is like night and day).

Looking forward to the next match!

Lol, oh THAT combo...yea that's totally a mistake. I probably accidentally launched you when you jumped or something, so I just get in as many kicks as I can before the backflip. Looks cool, total accident :)

You can't proper punish Jacky online (latency allows online jacky scrubs to get away with lots of shit that wont work offline), he also has strings you can't properly escape/evade online either (at least on PSN). Shang actually covered some of the non punishable online jacky scrub spam specials on his blog a while back.

Depends on the connection. If it's decent you can duck beatknuckle followups and guard his 3KP string the same as you would offline. In bad connections he's definitely free wins though.

Regardless of connection quality, some things of his you can't punish online, even on LIVE (there is latency even on a perfect connection, it's not offline). You catch some of the stuff Chief Flash couldn't punish, despite having more than enough positive frame advantage to do so, yesterday? He made comments about it in the chat stream.. Also you can evade out of that 3KPKK string spam even after eating the first two hits offline, you cannot online (go to dojo and check it out, I just re checked it). He has other stuff that is the same kind of broken bullshit online that bad players can use to their advantage online.

Sadly this is going to be true in any online environment. And with the popularity of VF in my area, this is my only option for now :(

Even with that though, you can tell a scrubby Jacky from a Jacky with class. Genzen, I'm sure even in an offline setting, would probably still be a colossal handful.

I get all kinds of PK punishes online with questionable connections on PSN and XBL easily and you saw it too Raze when we play each other. I actually look to do that often and it works most of the time because I look for the chance before it happens and do it when the chance comes up. There are going to be times where yes it fails and I can't punish a -13 move with PK but for the most part it happens easily if you actually try it and force yourself to make it happen. I look for the guaranteed stuff as much as possible since TEs are as easy as holding P+G now and I land all kinds of damage that most people don't get because of it. I am not perfect and there are moves that still get away like flip kicks similar to Jacky's etc but I can say I am consistent with it for the most part.

Punishing online is hard but it still doable I am proof of that easily so you might want to actually try it and get in the habit of doing it. Fast mids aren't always fast enough but PK is if you give it a try and push your limits based on the connection you have with an opponent. You might be surprised what happens if you do.

That's all good and fine, but that doesn't change the fact you still can't step out of that string spam, or execute various other options online. PK is PK, it's not evasion, it's not a frame latency reducer. I also said proper punish, not PK punish, and some things aren't even throw punishable online, let alone PK punishable. Anyways my initial reply was only aimed at Brodi, since he wasn't fully up on Jacky's bullshit..

    moving on...

Welcome to online gaming buddy that is just how the world works in this area and it isn't fair that many characters Jacky included have moves and strings that are hard (or impossible) to evade and punish as they should be online oh well at least Brodi isn't too sadden about it though and keeps on going.

gg to Brodiman, its been a while. We where in this funny room and the host of the room KenshinRuler was completely clueless on what I was doing to him. He was pulling out Jean combos and I was just using p+k and or k with evade and he was getting upset. He was losing and keep saying my Taka sucks and i dont know how to play VF, for using those basic moves :) Well ggs to him nevertheless, cause I had fun and hopefully he'll smile too once he views the replay he saved.

ggs to Modelah, I should stop showing you my Taka tactics :)
ggs too to Valakrie, hopefully I'll be able to figure your Aoi out soon :)
