GGs to Nomas' room the other day: Complexz and Nightshade keepin' it real. Hope I gave you guys some good matchup experience as well.

GGs to JudyJetson: While not exactly a bad player I find his/her play style an almost perfect example of intermediate Jacky and Sarah players. That poking and long distance fighting style may work against some people with less patience, but it's a bad habit to fall into I think, and it just wastes time on the clock. If you can fight, get in your opponent's face!!! (Sorry, that's the Vale Tudo talking) Really all it does is tick people off and make them prone to bad choices of approach; though I think trying to anger their opponent may also be part of their strategy. That's all well and good but be considerate of other people's blood pressure

Using pokes and staying relatively "safe" is one way of fighting. I see it a lot in 3rd Strike so it's not a style I'm unfamiliar with. However even that style becomes less effective because there are still patterns to fall under. I believe what happens when the pressure is on and the 'ol tried and true tricks don't work is what makes or breaks someone. Like TaNooki I prefer things up close and personal win or lose. It doesn't make any sense to me for someone having to run back 50 frickin' feet away from someone (especially high tier bo-bos, you know who you are lol). It's one thing to put some distance from someone for breathing room, it's another thing entirely when one has to go coast to coast to get s--t done.

About JudyJetson, he's getting better and better pretty fast imho.
Nomas, you mean the cheap Kages and Blazes that keep running to the end of the stage just to run back with a slide or a running kick? BTW, you're always too close with your Eileen. Pls. have a sense of personal space! :)

ggs also to bigbossryu, its nice to go toe to toe with your Akira for a change. I just realized that I cant use my evade tactic on you.

ggs to pro-tagonist (?). ggs to kronic5last, you let me win once to give me the rank match then proceeded to demolish me with your Wolf, need to play you more.

Ah! Yes, this is exactly what I meant by "long-distance fighting"(I put my "Nomas Mask" on, I hope he doesn't realize I'm not Nomas o_o; ). I'm talking about those people who frequently make huge gaps just to try to give themselves a free poke/Savate, running slides, rolling kicks, elaborate flipping shenanigans, charged dash punches, "RIDER KICKS!!!" or whatever you want to call it, and just generally try to never let you get in cause they keep backing off. Hey nothing wrong with it if it works for them but they really are limiting themselves more than they are limiting the options of their opponent (i.e. there's no nitaku in long distance fighting).

With more experience I'm sure JudyJetson will come to realize this and make adjustments to the mixup game. I can remember an ugly period in my early VF experience where I would abuse Van's DS KK because of it's wide range of application but really just because it's a good move doesn't mean it works on every player; some moves are just more effective on certain players based on their spacing game and matchup experience. If you keep a huge gap between yourself and your opponent how will you ever learn that? That's really like a self-centered play style where you're saying, "Stay away! I don't want to get to know you!" Well then, /rant.

Just in regards to long distance playing I wanted to chime in. Playing against players who would range me out used to be a real weakness in my game and I also hated playing those kinda players too. They'd spend the round running away or creating distance in situations where I felt they should be pressing the advantage. You know what helped me not get angry about this? Learning to fight from range myself.

The big secret I came upon when I learned range fighting is that you can't just use your moves like normal close range fighting. It's too easy to predict the range of your attack and your opponent can just backdash to make you whiff, or just run away again. Canceling my attacks from my dashes is what opened the range game for me. I had to start using for instance 33,6P to dramatically increase the range of my short limbed monkey girl. Your opponent isn't going to know as well your max effective distance when you start playing this way, and really when you do, you can hit them from anywhere on the screen if you cancel the right dash at the right time with the right move. You just have to dojo mode it out.

A tactic I use to learn my ranges for different moves from dashes is dojo mode default position and just backdash then do the attack I want. If it whiffs I try 33 after the backdash and cancel it into the attack. If that works then try to find out what range it won't work anymore. Maybe instead try doing two 11 dashes from start position and see if I cancel 33 into my move do I whiff yet or still connect. Then more interesting level is when I start using more realistic dashing motions like 448448 which is a basic backdash stepping technique, but it leaves you pretty far from your opponent, so it can be hard to attack without being really telegraphing the move you're going to use. What I started trying out are ways to attack from that range so something like 448448,44266~G6P actually connects (with the 2 serving to keep us on axis).

When you start mixing this up with just generally retreating it can become a lot harder for your opponent to know when they're really out of range of your attacks, and they also wont' know when you're just retreating or setting them up to attack. You're also giving yourself some time to hitcheck in a sense your opponent's response to your movement and react accordingly. Kinda like in SF when you use block strings cr.LPLP,cr.MP to see if your opponent flinches or not.

Now I use distance as a way to confuse my opponent about my decision to attack, run away, move in, or wait them out. It's a strong tool to have in your arsenal, especially if you're up close game is solid already. Nowhere should be safe from your attacks.

This is generally my style of fighting. Constant movement: back, forth, and side to side. Using retreat when necessary, especially characters with long reach helps. And the more movement I use, the more advantages I can create for myself.

Very gg's VolX, Futu, Nomas, Shadow, Elite, Kishin, JudyJetson, and everyone else that joined. I always like playing your Jean, took me a minute to warm up today, but started doing better eventually. Connection was very good better than most really.
At the end my last 2 matches with Shadow were really jacked for some reason, despite him having a good connection, PSN trolling I guess :p

Now to figure out some kinda dinner..

Came across a really good Aoi player in Ranked. Her name was Rally2040 - only a Raider in rank, but her ability to win matches was equal to mine (I avoid the word 'skill' because I'm not as skilled as my ability to win would have one believe). She'd only played about 120 games, and was already a Raider, with about 400 battle points.

    I was impressed.

GG's to Genzen, Huljkulla (no idea how to spell his GT), InfoRatio, Libertine and everyone else that I played this past week. I'm not a 100% sure yet, but I'm guessing InfoRatio is possibly Cha-Mame3 playing on an ult account. It's obvious to me that whoever it is IS NOT using their main character. I played his Akira, Wolf and Jacky and while they were strong I have a hunch it's not their main character. I've played Cha-Mame3's Jacky a bit and the attack patterns are very similar. I guess since they want to remain anonymous using random ults it the best way to go. This is how I learned a little about Pai on XBL without anyone even noticing I was trolling.

Wolf is very strong when InfoRatio uses him. His Akira is good, but not as good as yours. It seems to me that Wolf is his main character. The only similarity I've noticed between InfoRatio and Cha-mame3 is that they are very good with fuzzy guarding. Don't know. I guess it's possible that they are one in the same.

EDIT: Actually, both InfoRatio and Cha-mame3 tend to stick to using one throw direction a lot in succession, in my experience.

GGs BTW. I need more practice.

GGs also to all the people I've played recently. Martianpulis, Mr_X, et al.

Honestly I didn't think his Wolf was strong at all. Flash and Shangster play a much stronger Wolf IMO. When I played against him I wasn't even using Akira. I played Taka the whole time in all of our matches. I can't remember who he used the first game we played, but he lost and then challenged me again with Wolf. His Wolf won that first game, but after that he couldn't win anymore with that character. He was barely winning any rounds and that's when he started character jumping. He eventually settled on Jacky and if anyone has played Cha-Mame3 in the recent past remembers he was devoting a lot of time towards Jacky. And like I said in my earlier post, the way InfoRatio attacks with Jacky is very similar to Cha-Mame3.

Anyway, I have no idea who it is, but I'll bet anything they are using ults to hide there main. My Taka sucks and he could barely pull out a win no matter who he picked. It's obvious to me InfoRatio is really strong and possibly stronger than me. But it's also obvious he is just messing around having some fun.
