Don't forget to switch the game to Hard mode...I always forget when starting new characters in Quest mode.

what's the difference between Normal and Hard?

I've been playing Normal, thinking it was difficult enough, but since playing with Wolf, I've been beating 10th dans without much of a prob....on a side note, I don't seem to rank up as much when defeating 10th dans...

OK, it's harder. Still doable though...actually much more fun.

yeah, hard is a bit more fun and definately doable /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif At least it's more fun if you actually play your best and try to learn more about your character, instead of just using the same 3-4 tricks that you know the AI can't handle very well.

I'm new to VF,have only played it for a month..soo glad i found this site, seems to be mostly helpful and friendly folks here /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif And i realize that as a newbie, my opinion of what a "decent" AI is doesn't really count around here..still, i believe that most casual gamers will find the quest mode fun and challenging.

It's a shame that VF5 doesn't have a better AI for the skilled players, very few games does, really. However, when i buy a fighting game, i don't have very high hopes for the single player anyway..multiplayer is where it's at in these kind of games. It's very unfortunate for those who haven't got anyone to play against, but computer opponents can never measure up to real people anyway. Which means, the real skilled players will always find the AI a bit boring, unless it's just plain cheap.

Btw,sorry for my rather poor english..i'm norwegian,so it's not my mother language.

Poor A.I. is %100 Sega's fault. There have been loads of games that simulate realistic, yet challenging, A.I. from sports games to first person shooters. If anyone's played Unreal Tournament 2004 the A.I. is nothing short of revolutionary. The point is that Sega already showed that they can program A.I. to a level where facing A.I. is enjoyable across several skill levels of play with VF4:Evolution. VF5 abandoned that hence threads like this saying the A.I. is 'weak' in VF. 'Weak' referring to the programming behind the A.I.

Take a look back at the original VF4 on the PS2 and it's horrible A.I. characters and Kumite mode. Lessons were learned while developing that game, and that knowledge is reflected in VF4Evo. Almost every aspect was improved upon except for the profile save system.

A similar pattern is happening with VF5. The PS3 is brand new and difficult to program for just like the PS2, so you can't expect everything to be perfect on the first try. This A.I. stuff pisses me off as a player and I'm not saying Sega/AM2 isn't to blame here, but I understand the programmers' point of view to a certain degree. I'm sure things will be different in "VF5Evo" because I've read a recent interview suggesting that. Just give it some time.

I'm finding the AI never attacks on my standup, so it's just a guessing game as to throw high or low with Wolf. Fear it's stunting my "growth" as a player.
