Dont worry its not just SD you willbe able to play it in HD although not sure if its 720p 1080i or 1080p, I think its 1080 i or p.

My concern is that my TV is older so it doesn't support 720p let alone 1080p. If the PS3 firmware can be updated (or has been updated) so that it upscales my TV to 1080i instead of downscaling to 480p (which I understand the PS3 currently does with TV's that cannot support 720p/1080p) I would be quite pleased. From what I've heard, PS3 games don't look especially terrific in 480p. Give me a 1080i option, at least for VF!

Are you saying that your TV is 1080i? If so then you will be able to play it upscaled from 720 and interlaced, yes. Ive played it on a 1080p screen and you simply cannot tell its upscaled at all, looks awesome.

    Look at this.

VF5 has resolution up to 1080p listed, so will VF5 indeed support up to that, despite what AM2 mentioned?

Also, what is that symbol with the globe and '2'? AFAIK, PS3 games should be region free... hopefully this does not change with VF5...

that symbol represent the DVD region not BD region and don't ask me why its there coz i don't know. i have Armored Core 4, although being a BD game it has a DVD region symbol. and yes VF5 support 1080p.

Well, in that case it's maybe there just as a matter of course. ^_^

Darn, VF5 in full 1080p. So far I've only seen videos and it already looks awesome. How more awesome will it be right before our eyes...

Wow, I didn't know they'd get up that high ... pretty impressive.

Blu-Ray discs (specifically movies) also have regions on them, but they're supposed to be lettered regions instead of numbered... but maybe I'm wrong?

VF5's native res is 720p. when it says it supports 1080p, a tv which can do 1080p will upscale a 720p to 1080p res. If you have a crt which does 480p 1080i it will pick 480p.

Quick, lazy, noob question. By playing PS3 games on a standard tube TV (ancient I know), will it suffer any stretching or anything? I'm fine with it not looking as crisp and vibrant as HDTV, but I don't want it to appear distorted.

KrsJin, yeah, I've played 4:3 standard ratio games on a ps3, they'll look fine (well, not distorted, anyway).

jide, just to be clear, if the box says that vf5 supports 1080p, that means it's the ps3 doing the scaling, not the tv. Which is certainly a good thing, for purposes of reducing lag.

This cannot be true, else every game ever released in the history of the world could claim to support 1080p, as it would not be a function of the game, but whatever television happened to be displaying it.

The PS3 does NOT upscale any games to higher than their native resolutions, meaning if VF5 can render 1080p, it's because it's intrinsic to the game.

Doesn't mean the assets are made for 1080p resolution, look at Tekken5:DR...

I've got a Training Mode question for those who may know a bit of the details.
Supposedly there are tons of options to tweak your training. I am assuming you can select a specific character to act as your training dummy, and not just Dural (as seen in the screens). But can you assign customized characters, or even characters from the Quest mode? Or assign your own character as a Mirror Dummy?

What is the word on converters? Will they work for all sticks?

    Is there anything definitive?

I need to kow and I'm freaking out.
