I think it should incorporate some kind of story mode or story line and tell us more about the characters themselves. Every other game does it why not VF are the characters just not worth having a decent story.

Yeah I'm thinkin the same way. VF5 PS3 needs a story mode. Tekken, SC & DOA have their story mode.
If someone doesn't like stories, then he/she should play the arcade version.Simple & plain!

Evo had the best story mode ever.

The story was that you were an arcade player in Japan fighting your way through arcades to reach KS2.

Pure brilliance. People wanting soap opera garbage should hang themselves.

Don't you guys read the stories given in the instruction booklet?

Or do you want the game to reiterate the story in like a cut scene or something? Cause the story is not going to progress until the next version of VF...

Not cut-scenes that would reiterate the written story of the booklet.
A story mode (a la Tekken or Soul Calibur) that uses the booklet story as prologue, inserts cut-scenes as the player progress though the opponents & eventually unveils ending movie after beating Dural.

A fighting game without a storyline is bullshit. Any game without a storyline is bullshit, regaurdless of how terrible it might be.

People saying they would like a better storyline from a game is in no way wrong. Its liike asking for a better product, and we should always expect a better product than the previous, especially when dealing with such an already phenomenal game.

People who come to expect mediocrity and allow it to continue are one of the reasons things never change.

Unless they add story and in turn make a worse product in the end. Change is not always for the better.

I'd rather have a worse change than no change at all. I dont wanna play VF4 Evo for the rest of my life. Much like the Final Fantasy series there will be ups and downs. Change is just part of that.

I think instead of a story mode involving the game characters... there should be a story mode involving people who play VF.

There would be sub plots like meeting fellow sexualy ambiguous VF'ers at your local arcade, and then get drunk and wake up naked in bed with another male VF player, and losing your card data at the end of the whole thing.

I think that would be so fun.

Oh and Vith, you'd only be playing Evo for the rest of your life if you don't buy the PS3 VF5.

Every fighting game needs a story mode.
If you don't like story modes don't play 'em. Surely there will be other modes as well in VF5 that all the story-mode-haters can enjoy. /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif
But a story mode is essential for VF5 PS3.

HA thats an awesome Idea. its still a storyline hehe.

I was meaning more towards if the fighting sytem / storyline / style of the game never changed we'd be playing the same game for as long as we never expected more / better games. Like the whole quest mode in VF4 I expect there to be twice as much in VF5 (and so on and so forth). When the people who buy / play these games come to EXPECT changes and importance and the storylines in fighting games, it will start happening. Much like the Mortal Kombat Series. (now if only they would come to expect better fighting systems in MK)

I never said I don't want a story mode. I never said I don't want change. I simply said if they are not gonna be able to do a good job, then don't bother. In my opinion, the story mode in games like Tekken serves no purpose other than unlocking more characters or sexy CG's of the female characters. It's definitely not an essential part of the game, unless you're counting the fact that it must be completed to get all the characters, which is something that you won't have to do for VF.

No, it is essential for the home version. It is not essential for the arcade version. This is the PS3 version we are talking about. It needs modes that are meant for home usage. One of them is a story mode. Story mode is mode meant for home versions!

I think that Tekken 5's story mode is interesting, enjoying and at least not futile!

if you want a story mode, go read a comic or watch a movie, videogames are meant to be played, not watched

VF's story isn't all that bad.

They just need to flesh it out a bit more...throw in some of the MGS "didn't see that shit, this is so fucking awesome" factor. Also, connect all the characters. They also need to make it classic (none of that SC bullshit). Just classic tournament.

You could have some of those tender "Kage loves Dural" moments, or Shun getting drunk off his ass and trying to feel up Eileen, Eileen and Pai "experimenting" while Aoi watches in shock...but just can't look away.

Also, have Jeffry meet up the shark and finally body slam him...except, he escapes after (damn). Jeffry follows him, only to discover that the shark is working for some sort of off shore facility (there's some of that MGS "wow" factor)...who's behind this facility?

    J6?

Hell no! It's the original Dural, recently escaped from the clutches of J6, she's busy getting fixed up to go back and kick their ass!!

    Meanwhile, in Pai's bedroom...

I don’t think a story mode will be necessary. Since the story is so lame. Now don’t get me wrong. Having a story mode is better than not having one. But I think the best thing for AM2 to do is at least put a satisfying cut scene at the end of the game for every character. Maybe something that will show the character's personalities. Just like in DOA's endings.

instead of a story ending FMV.
I would rather have an exhibition sequence like Eileen's intro exhibition and like Shun's VF2 attract sequence when he did his stuff.
    But 1 for each character
