There is some sort of announcement about VF.NET on the VF5 PS3 page http://virtuafighter5.jp/. I assume this is bonus stuff that you can download from VF.NET and not online play though.

"The PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 will support VF.NET, which allows players to battle online."

This sentence says it all about the author not knowing what the fuck he's talking about.

There is no online play for PS3's VF5, nor in the arcades.

The VF.net blurb on virtuafight.jp is an announcement saying that you can register on VF.net to have your character put in to the PS3 version of the game, similar to PS2's evo.

It has NOTHING to do with online play.

Wonder how they'll handle VF.Net on PS3 i'm thinking that the buying stuff options will be there but I wonder if we are going to be able to watch videos and that stuff(it would be net to put your replays on the net).

Oh yeah some new pics(Why the hell Sega seems to not know how to release Screenshots?)

Folks do you think that VF5 PS3 is going to have a story mode after all (a la Tekken 5 or SC3) or not?
    Or at least ending movies?

    Pointless question alert... But anyway:

    1. Yes, we think it's going to have a story mode and/or ending movies.
    2. No, we think it's not going to have a story mode and/or ending movies.

    Move along...

You were asking for speculation... "Do you think VF5 PS3 needs story mode/endings?" would be more viable... "Do you think it will have" is making people foresee/guess what's in the game that's not released...

Ya, the question would be better "You think VF5 needs a story mode?"

It would help but it don't really need it the stellar gameplay speaks for itself but it would be a good change of pace. I think it should incorporate some kind of story mode or story line and tell us more about the characters themselves. Every other game does it why not VF are the characters just not worth having a decent story.

Why should we care more about our characters? That is what I hate about Tekken and Soul Calibur, as it gives too much info on an imaginary character in a fighting game. It feels like the Olympics (do we need to know more about this athlete?). Reality TV and the need for closure ruin too much.

I don’t care about what motivates Akira and Jeffry to fight, what kind of home they grew up in, and whatever pointless shit others might want to know. All I care about is the game being fun. Nothing else, I won’t ask beyond that.

    Extra modes? Eh…

Fighting games should not be based on a story that is being forced down your throat... because any story that could ever come out of a fighting game will always suck (omg, I’m traveling to achieve X, omg, I’m in a fight, omg, I’m in another fight, etc.). So I applaud Sega in being as lazy as they are in thinking of a "story" and spending time in making THE greatest fighting games EVER. Let other series worry about this, maybe that is why I don't enjoy them.

Stories are for RPGs, and Fallout is the greatest ever.

great points made really but whether or not it has story don't change the fact that it is the best fighter today. If it had a story line it could blow the opposition away even more and they would be say "What is tekken or soul calibur," they wouldn't even consider them any good because VF would have set the bar so high not even they could reach it in ten years regardless of how hard they tried. Without a story it still does that and no game no can even rival it as far as gameplay is concerned and VF5 will have visuals to rival DOA 4 and that might be enough to draw them in as well. If it wanted to bring in some fresh blood it might try it does nothing it would still be the best to me hands down besides the visuals might just be enough to get new players to play it all by itself since people today are drawn to great looking games even if they suck. VF don't suck in any way so it will have an advantage in that respect over the rest of the games of it kind to come out in the future.

Thank fucking god there are you and people like you in this world. This whole "injected drama" bullshit found in reality TV and whatnot just pisses me off. I remember seeing what I think was the beginning of it. Back in the early 90's I lifted weights alot and my girlfreind and I used to watch American Gladiators - a show that pit big-muscled opponents (the regularly-appearing stars of the show) against fairly normal-sized contestants that signed up for the show (new people each show). The events favored the fit, quick, and agile contestants (tests to get onto the show were structured to keep massive body-builders from qualifying). It was all fun to watch the first season or two and then one day, after an event, the announcer says "let's go back into the locker room to see what happened with our man Mega-Blaster in that last go-'round."

    What

    the

    fuck

    ?

Utter shit from that point on.

I don't even have cable these days and I know just from watching part of an American Chopper episode that nothing is any better. Stop fucking arguing and just build the goddamned motorcycle.

"My name's Akira. I have no fucking story line. I'm just going to punch you in the face."

    Thank you.
