Nein -- you can't take the results too far. There's empirical results, and there's also theoretical reasoning. Theory suggests that Goh is not really bottom tier, and theory definitely tells us that Vanessa is not the second worst. You have to keep both in mind when thinking about this sort of stuff.

The way I would interpreut akai's research is not "This is the order of rankings" but more "There is only 20% differentiation between top and bottom, which is small enough to be due to random factors." Think about it. Is Steve/Heihachi 20% better than Kuma? Hell no, more like 60-70%!

Note that the characters that generally have lower win percentage overall, are characters that do not have a strong representation in the tournament. Thus the win % for those characters are most likely more skewed than characters with greater representation in the tournament. Thus, if we have twice the amount of Goh players available, my guess is that the win % will be closer to 50%.

Sure Akai, I understand how to read the stats perfectly.

My intent was to inform potential new players out there to be themselves and play hard with a character they enjoy playing. I was just concerned about this information being taken too seriously.

I'm enjoying the effort being given, thanks for your time in analyzing all the info.

Jerky - yeah, the stuff I analyze was not to be taken seriously (if some other people have too much free time on their hand and look at how I calculate the data, they most likely will find some caveats in my method). One of the reason I look at the available data was me being curious about the tier list from the Japanese magazine and if the tournament data available fit their ranking lists. Which to me, doesn't seem so.

The reply was actually to Vortigar's comment on Goh being the lowest rank.

"1) adapt to change, 2) utilize efficient strategy (yes even if it's "this guy can't deal with elbow"), and 3) WIN." - Entirely agree.
