Also, it seems to a certain degree that Tier lists kind of become a self fulfilling prophecy, in that people read paper logic, which, although it can't be argued with on a technical level, is complete conjecture in realworld terms because it only takes into account a fraction of the variables in effect, and relies on all of these variables falling in the favour of the person making the argument.

theres no perfect fighting game but VF5 in my opinion is the closest thing. damn it people its called practicing the situations with your friends that your having trouble with. if theres certain moves you think are cheap, well then practice defending against them. its not hard.

when me and my friends beat each other we discuss what we did to beat each other. if your having trouble ask your friend what he or she is doing to beat you. its not hard. some of you have way to much pride though and when you lose you automatically think thats cheap. some of you have the mindset of im the best VF player ever and if i lose the games cheap.

if we were talking about tekken or DOA id understand. ive been playing fighting games a long time now. the best feature i like in a fighting game is balance. theres no better gameplay or balance than in VF5. sorry shang but you take things way to personal. everyone on here gets into little spats but eventually we let it go.

While there clearly better things to do than being seen as coming to defense of Shang, I must say his posts are like car wrecks. Difficult to avert your eyes as in all that smoldering mess there are still things that strike people's chords. And it's equally amusing to see people who have no idea who or what Shang is trying to sound like a voice of reason while coming off so off-the-mark .


All the verbal abuses aside, I want to address a few recycleable materials from Shang's car wreck. (And inevitably go off course a a little)


1. While I appreciate all the works Myke has done, and his works for the community have been invaluable considering no one else was doing much else, I couldn't help but notice he seemed to be thinking that his forum was the first and last and everything you needed for VF--the embodiement of VF "community" and the holy blood and flesh.

I don't know if Myke or anyone reads every single word posted on this site. And I hope no one does for mental health's sake. And you can't expect everyone to. Frankly 95% of posts made on this site are waste of time to read (this thread included.) And in particular Myke's previous post that explained ff+All counter is a post no one I know has heard of.

Messageboard fatigue, in particular, struck so called vets. Someone like Rodney writes about VF in his blog but pretty much stopped posting here. And I honestly don't think Shang or anyone particular is the main culprit here.

Okay I am not being fair here, since Myke clearly put a lot of work for _VF4_ site to organize the information better and friendly, but I know some people are gossiping off line on how the site looks worse than the VF4 days.

Granted, I fully understand if Myke is busy. I fully understand even if Myke simply says that he gives up maintaining the site and hell with it. I am sure he has better things to do with his life and that's his personal choice and no one obliges him to spend more time. But I would not understand him if he thinks the site is okay the way it is. (And imply that someone is lazy if he hasn't read a post no one else can remember either.) If I run a community site and I don't have time to change the front page banner that's two months obsolete and counting, then the best thing for me to do would be to find someone else who does and delegate.


2. Even if you read every single word posted here, that doesn't give you the sentiments going on at the street level. That just is not possible. Shang is right when he says there are many other players who think Kage is cheap and don't post. That's not a proof that his opinion is valid of course. But as I stated before, as another example, many people think that VFDC doesn't look or function as well as before, but very few care enough to bother to post their concerns.


At the end I think it's fair to ban Shang again. But I honestly don't think emotional passions are the most threatening problem for the VF community as of now. If anything it's a lack of passion and concern that's a bigger problem.

 

If you showed any respect for the opinions of others you wouldn't be in the position you're in.

I did use Jeffry in a tournament -- the big Socal one with VF4 Evo, where Jeffry was possibly at his weakest in his entire history of VF. Sent to losers after getting Yosuke in the second round and eventually lost to Maddy in the final eight.

 

So what really is the point of tis thread.?
