That's maybe because VF is not a game for everyone. Most of the people are looking for games you get quick used to and make fun: Ego-Shooter. I personally don't like them.
VF has many nomenclature and a difficulty above the average of most games. It could be that VF deters the people.

Most people I know didn't get it on 360 for the same reason they don't buy every other fighting game for the console, the d-pad on the 360 controlers is terrible.

Where did you get those numbers?

If those are the correct numbers the franchise sold exponentially a lot more than VF1, VF2 and VF3 combined in the US. I remember the days where you could count the number of VF 1-3 players with your fingers. It finally got some attention in the states with VF 4, and should be gaining more momentum with Online gaming, Word of Mouth, Entry in the Cybergames, and gradual change in gaming mentality.

Relatively Speaking those numbers are exceptional in the U.S. compared to the VF1-VF3 era where the game was virtually nonexistent. The franchise actually came a long way.

Those are probably from VG chartz. Which is only really useful for the US market and is still inaccurate.

If the retail outlets originally had VF in your area, now you can't find any. That's good, that means they've sold out, and perhaps you just caught them before the restock. If those retail outlets never got them in the first place (that speaks to the fighting genre in your area)

'Production halted' is a interesting conclusion to come to. Why not just assume sold out? It is entirely possible that the demand in your area was greater than the original supply (which I admit could have been small)

Being hard to find sometimes is a good thing.

On the other hand the fact that it is now selling for 29.99 new in some stores is puzzling. I don't know what conclusion to draw
from that. There are games that totally suck, have been out for a couple of years and still have a price point of 59.99.

    ahem....

VGchartz is indeed the site I used. Aside from that site it's tricky to find any sort of sales list...

Interesting fact I heard from a dutch game developer who knows plenty about the whole video game market. Games actually start to generate a lot more profit when their price is lowered like that.
Though it often IS a sign that it didn't sold all that well in the first place if a price cut comes soon after it's release.
So ehm yeah, draw your own conclusions :p

It depends on how VF5R turns out, but assuming it uses basically the same engine as VF5 the sequel's production cost will be dramatically lower.

Given that pretty much only the hardcore segment buy fighting games nowadays (and thus would repurchase VF5R) I think odds are good VF5R will ported to consoles.

Just curious... Any idea why Final Tuned never made it to the consoles? Originally I was under the impression that VF5 was soon to be released on consoles that's why FT was ported. But there was such a gap between EVO and VF5, now I don't have a clear reason why FT was never ported..

    anybody know?

my opinion why the ps3 version sold better:

it was a launch game and people who bought the ps3 back then didnt have( and still doesnt have) that many good games to choose from.

on 360 casual gamers have a lot of games to choose from so they just rather buy some crappy overhyped game like halo 3

VF is also new to the xbox. Sony had a fan base already there so that helped. Plus there is more of a wide variety of fighters on the Xbox compared to the PS3. Not sure but I THINK VF5 is the only fighter available at this time. If people are on a budget they would obviously choose the more well known game such as the SF download or maybe a DOA title.
