LAU.VF has confirmed on his site that the text with the VF 5R console info is BS /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

for those of you who dont understand swedish
(probably 99% of the users here) here is a translation:

thats just what the guy who wrote the text wishes to happen, in the end of the text it says something like "thats what I dreamt" or something similar.

It DOES say "nan tte iu yume wo mimashita" which means " I had a dream that.. " but ive seen alot of similar methods for people to cover their own asses when leaking info. I dont think its as easy as saying the info is or isnt BS at this point. Lau VF can't confirm something is BS or not unless he really works at AM2 which he doesnt. The truth is no one knows for sure until we hear official info.

I agree with LA Akira... you see this kind of stuff on 2ch all the time when legit info is leaked. People will state "my father got a report" or "I had a dream about" to make their posts a bit more vague. In fact, it's a weekly occurrence when dealing with people leaking out scripts for the weekly manga lol. You'll get people dropping hints about each chapter and say "my dad brought home a copy of it 3 days early" just to cover it up.

That's the problem with the internet lol. So tough to call. I still say this sound fairly legit and do agree with L_A_Akira and Reno above. But who knows. NDAs and other forms of agreements are scary stuff, so it is common to see fluff added to cover it up or make it look innocent.

    This.
PS3+PSN= Dedicated SERVERS. Unlike the LIVE, where is P2P. Dedicated servers>P2P. The reason TekkenDR5 didn't work well is because it wasn't CODED from the ground up to be ONLINE, compare to the 360 version of VF5. Anyone who OWNS a PS3 could tell you that the online is freaking solid, if not better. The fact you have the option for dedicated servers or P2P is a HUGE plus for the PSN. Once they get cross game invites down pack, it will be close to XBL, features wise.

I never play on dedicated servers in any games. At least, I never play on the same servers other people apparently see.

It may be because I live in Scotland but I rarely notice any kind of a difference between a dedicated server and P2P.

Uh, GGPO has proven that p2p >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> servers. Server is only good for lobby, matchmaking, and sending spectator feeds.

I have ps3 but I havent tried any of its online games apart from tekken DR very very little. Can you give me an example of a game with good online code? Id like to try, although I will propably get SC4 for xbox due to controller issues (I only have one stick left for ps3)

p2p has its issues, but Im pretty sure it offers better connection most of the time. Thats my experience. There are multiple reasons.

I think that a PS3 only version would be a bad business decision for Sega even if VF5 didn't sell well on the 360. The reason why it didn't do well on the 360 is because most of the game's audience already bought it on the PS3 by the time the 360 version was released. If it was released simultaneously, both versions would have done well, and since the hype would be centered on one release date, it could have sold better than if it had come out only on one platform.

I've got no plans to buy a Playstation 3 (more of a money issue than a loyalty thing) so I guess I'll just be watching this game from the sidelines if ever it gets released exclusively for PS3. Maybe the local arcade here will get a version of VF5R out....oh, nah, maybe not; I'm stuck with Tekken 6 :-(

I think it's best to just wait for the official announcement from Sega.

That is true. The fact that it was released later for xbox and that there was such a long time between ps3 version and announcement of xbox version made a lot of very angry people in here at least. People who bought ps3 for VF felt betrayed.

Warhawk, R:FOM, Burnout(EA Servers), COD4, Inital D and a bunch other titles. Warhawk and R:FOM are PRIME examples of games running on the PSN that have no issues with all the mayhem going on the screen(30+players). People assume because of Tekken:DR5, they think the PSN can't handle fighting games and such. Like I stated before, we know why the online sucks for that game. Someone mention, GGPO....My dude, we're comparing XBL to PSN connection wise(Not features)so GGPO is irrelevant to this discussion, due to the fact NONE of this companies are using such a service.

I'm calling shenanigans on this one, dude. I've owned a PS3 since VF5 launched and have almost never had a decent online experience.

Warhawk has some amazing online game play with little to no lag ever present. I cant vouch for anything else.

I second that! The only game I felt played decently was Ridge Racer! While I want to believe in Sony's online service like everyone else, until they can produce something better I'm with MS.

Was VF ever part of that CGS? Did it get cut from the official list of games for 2008?

Some of the gossip that I heard a year or so ago was that the online feature of VF on the 360 was going to catapult it into popularity as a result of being an official game for CGS.

If it didn't work out that way, maybe that would explain PS3 exclusivity next time around /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

Exactly. Tekken DR5 is a bad example to cite when talking about PSN experience.

Rod - what other games have you played online on PS3 - just curious...

I've played Resistance with over 35 players - and it was near flawless! Same thing with Warhawk. Shit was butter. DEDICATED SERVERS fucking rock. Imagine if Sega did that for VF5 R! (Although, I'm not holding my breath for this...)

Saying that a dedicated server would improve the quality of a 1 vs 1 fighting game seems misguided to me. The server is just there for matchmaking and tracking results. For actual gameplay peer-to-peer is by necessity going to be faster than going through an intermediary server.

All reports are that sc4 online is equally crappy on xbl and psn, as you would expect.
