This is a messed up read:

    The Real Cost of War

This is a bummer, but it reminds us of what the media doesn't tell us about what we are doing in Iraq.

Oh oh, looks like Obama has committed his first major slip-up. He has accepted federal funding thus going back on his words. Even though, according to him he has not accepted money from lobbyists and special interest groups he still went back on his words.
No candidate is perfect but backpeddling was one of the major reasons why the Dems lost the election in 2004.

McCain said that Obama doesn't know what's going on the ground in Iraq because he hasn't been to Iraq in such a long time. So now Obama has announced plans to go visit Iraq before the elections.
Prediction: Obama will be killed in Iraq.
Call me a conspiracy theory nut but if Obama does not get killed in Iraq and he gets elected then he will be killed here in the states. He might even get killed during the race if it starts to look like a landslide in his favor.
I don't want anything to happen to either candidate but there are just way to many KKK members with nothing to lose that will be more than happy to give their lives for their cause.

I believe that there are more progressive-minded white Americans that hate the KKK than there are KKK members.
Still the passion exhibited by the KKK to not have a black man be our next president in the white house combined with their stupidity makes them a very dangerous terrorist group against Obama if he finds himself in the wrong part of the country.

Anyway, I posted this before but it got moved to the other thread, so here it is again where it belongs, a song written by a John McCain supporter: JohnHeIs -

^Very nice vid, now if only more of these "Pro-War" people and such would listen to what the actual soldiers are saying/feeling...Then maybe they'd switch their opinions...

Islamo-Fascism? Never heard of that term, sounds like a b.s. term, smacks of American scare-mongering. Either that or a sarcastic joke.

    *Watches video

Seriously, is talk like that drifting through the States?
Are people really fearing a war on American soil?

Wtf? An international war in Europe?
I'm perplexed by the nonsense here... Is this guy reacting to actual sentiments or is he enlarging the issue to make himself look good?

    aside:
Just watched the army veteran vid on the last page. Interesting that they say themselves that they made a mistake and now need to leave with honour. They are now at the stage they're confessing to the mistake, half a year ago they weren't saying that. Spinning the other debater's words to imply that they're not 'supporting the soldiers' is also gone, very refreshing.

I was amazed at some of the cheers though, he got cheers after he obviously dodged the question at hand and dove onto another issue? He just conceded a point and veiled it by sidestepping to another issue, how is that worth cheering for? This isn't boxing where a dodge and an underhand blow is a good move.

    What the hell is this???
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25673296

Seriously, wtf??? If that isn't one of the most racist, fear-mongering caricatures ever published in the 20th century, I don't know what is.
I saw this on the news and took a look at my calendar just to make sure I didn't get trapped in a time-warp or something and all of a sudden I was back in the 1950's or some shit.

According to The New Yorker, it's meant to be "satirical". Like most Americans are going to just look at the cover and "get" the joke. The sad reality of it is most people won't "get it" like they supposedly want them to.

Can you believe that thing is on the front page???
McCain doesn't have to worry about hitting below the belt when there are magazines such as this that can do all of the dirty work for him. They got asked "Don't you think that this cover, which is going to be seen all around the world, is going to have a negative influence on voters?" One of the idiots that works for The New Yorker replied "If certain people are going to allow this cartoon to influence their vote then they have no business voting anyway". /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
That still doesn't change the fact that these voters are still going to vote! What a moron.
You've got the elderly voter, the uneducated voter, the ignorant voter (sometimes these types have various degrees but zero common sense) and undecided voters whose biggest fear is exactly what this cartoon depicts.

Seriously, anybody who thinks that Obama has got it in the bag is sadly mistaken. It's so sad too. The same people who voted for Bush in the last two elections and voted negative on his approval rate are the same people that are going to vote for McCain again. Some people in this country would rather let it sink even deeper into recession than to give a chance to a half-black man whose father was a Muslim.
    It's depressing really.

Most things presented in the media can easily influenced naive voters, not just one single cartoon. Do you believe that the purpose of the cartoon was meant to be anti-Obama? Have you read the actual articles on Obama in that New Yorker?

The problem with the media's attention to this cartoon - is putting emphasis on the "controversy" around the cartoon, rather than putting it into actual context.

Regardless of him having it in the bag or not. He doesn't deserve the presidency. He has no experience in congress nor has he done anything. 2 years in the Senate and all he can show for it is excellent speech skills. People are riding his little popularity train simply because he can talk. This is just another election with a sad candidates. McCain or Obama, both will just bring this country further into the hole.
