    Bias for Israel?

What do you guys think of the question at the end of the vid?
    The question is:
"Does the one-sided treatment of the conflict by American politicians and media result from Israel's greater popularity or does Israel's greater popularity result from the one-sided treatment of the conflict by American politicians and media?"

My two cents: There is definitely bias for Israel and I find the timing for Israel's attack very interesting. It seems that they wanted to make sure to get that attack in before Obama took office.
I don't just fear for Obama's life because of his ethnicity but because if he doesn't start to follow suit and turn a blind eye to a lot of the b.s. going on just like a lot of the presidents before him did, he is going to have a huge list of wealthy and powerful enemies. If he tries to go up in Washington and adopt an Elliot Ness type of attitude, he might find himself alone and in the line of some heavy fire.
But for the first time in a long time, we might have a president that finally gets tough on Israel and tries to handle the situation without bias and without selling out.
    Here's hoping...

Wow, looking back I said a lot of things out of ignorance. I'm bringing this up at this time not to spark a religious debate (and it would be nice to talk about politics again), but to clear things up. For now on, I'm not going to make definite religious statements because there's so much religious knowledge to attain and quite frankly, I'm not in the best position in the world to make these statements. In particular, I'm having doubts that Jesus fulfilled the Law so we don't have to, have doubts that He did away with laws such as keeping the Sabbath and abstaining from eating certain foods (such as pork), and have doubts about the comment I made concerning what Paul's reason might have been behind his condemnation of homosexuality [EDIT: I now think that homosexuality is definitely a sin]. Additionally, I'm not completely sure that the Bible speaks out against masturbation and contraception. It's important for people to do their own research on religious matters. Religion is hard enough to understand without me spouting ignorance about it. I wouldn't want anybody to think that anything I said in the past, including in the above quote, is definitely right. I won't make these kinds of posts anymore, and I'm sorry to people that I affected in the past with them. I had Myke delete some of my past posts because they shouldn't have been in this thread in the first place, including the one I quoted.

That being said, religion is still an interesting topic that I like to talk about. I think it can be discussed without getting out of control. This thread hasn't been posted in for awhile, but there are still interesting things going on in the world that can be talked about here. For instance, I understand recently that an episode of South Park aired that made fun of the fact that you can't broadcast an image of Mohammad or something? Later that episode was censored I read. Can anybody, including somebody that has knowledge of Islam, elaborate?

I'm sure there's somebody out there who can reply to this without sounding like some pompous, hate-filled, hypocritical elitist whose religion and people are better than everybody else's... but we have yet to hear from this rational and sensible individual.

In the meantime, check this out

A scripture that was written by a warrior and mandates that you KILL anybody who criticizes it or it's "God", well, let's face it, there's no real way to co-exist with anyone who wants you to convert or be killed.
I'm all for letting Muslims live as long as they let live, but they won't. With them it's live and kill. Just because not all of them are following the scriptures doesn't really mean much when the ones who act on what the scriptures say are not condemned by those who choose a life of non-violence.
If they want to fight and kill each other, by all means, kill yourself but this is AMERICA and no, I'm not Captain America, I'm an American who loves the freedoms that this country allows us. The freedoms for which thousands have died for. I will not be told what I can and can't say in my home and in a country where we have freedom of speech, anything and everything is game. If you're on American soil and you're not breaking American law then you shouldn't have to abide by some other countries laws and rules.
As you can tell, I'm very passionate about my basic freedoms and this last South Park debacle has me and a lot of my friends riled up and very, very pissed... but not to worry, we're not about to go and blow ourselves up and/or decapitate people while they're still alive.

Thanks for the video tony. She said something to the effect of those who don't want to kill these people are the ones who don't want to follow scripture.

Can anybody who studies Islam give thoughts on that? Because I'm largely ignorant about that religion.

Well I don't know much about religion but Muhammad wasn't censored in those last few episodes of South Park, he was never drawn in the first place. Pretty sure those bleeps never mentioned him either, they were intended to be bleeps from the start.

The writers and animators designed these episodes knowing that'd be fine to show Buddha snorting crack but not to show Muhammad at all.

That was way back in series 5 and as far as I know it hasn't been censored, on the DVD's the episode hasn't been altered at all. Comedy central did censor a scene with Muhammad in a series 10 episode but they managed to sneak him in the intro and that got by the censors, they carried on having him in the intro for a good few years.

All these recent epsiodes did was mention his name and if that's a reason for any kind of retaliation then shit is mad.

Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

God kills everyone (men, women, children, infants, newborns) in Sodom and Gomorrah by raining "fire and brimstone from the Lord out of heaven." Well, almost everyone -- he spares the "just and righteous" Lot and his family

Those who break the Sabbath are to be executed.

If you ask God, he'll force heathens to be your slaves and help you "dash them in pieces."

Jesus condemns entire cities to dreadful deaths and to the eternal torment of hell because they didn't care for his preaching </div></div>

You really can't take any religion word for word. They tend to be either pleasantly retarded, pleasantly violent, or both if you do.

This pretty much is my take on every religion / belief / pastime.

Hmm, I'm not not very "knowledgable" regarding the religion of Muslim since my dad is the Muslim and was teaching me things and whatnot but I don't live with him anymore atm; I remember a few things I guess. Ironically one of the things i remember answers your question and I looked up google to confirm.

Before I say anything, just letting people know that I'm not interested with arguing with anyone and if someone is trying to start some shit I'm out of here lol

Anyways, I think the reason you can't show an image of Mohammad, peace be upon him, is that nobody actually knows what he looks like... or probably any others actually but my point is it's been deemed as disrespectful to do so. Also, pictures and such would mean creating a idol; a deity if you will. We are not supposed to worship him, only one thing and that is God that is supposed to be worshiped. Because the prophet was a man, he wasn't some kind of god or immortal or something you know what I mean?

Muslim isn't like Christianity where some people think of the prophet Jesus as the son of God or anything like that, in Muslim, God is God.

That's all I have to say... Probably wasn't much of a good answer lol but I tried what I could.

They'll be on the official site southparkstudios.com, it doesn't let people outside the US view the full site or episodes so I can't get the links.

Go on there and click on Watch Full Episodes at the top, you want episode 1405 and 1406 it was a two-parter.

Actually Comedy Central pulled those episodes, plus 'Super Best Friends' from season five, because of the Mohammed controversy. The latest episodes haven't appeared on the PSN either and Comedy Central pulled them from re-airing on their TV channel. Matt Stone and Trey Parker said that Comedy Central won't allow them to distribute the episode.

The only way to watch the episodes is through torrents, usenet, and so on. So just torrent the episodes. These are the one you want.

That's pretty much it Kamais. Images (in whatever form) can lead people to elevate the portrayed individual beyond proportions. We believe this is part of what led other communities astray and into idolatry. The prohibition on depicting the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is to prevent us from going down that same path.

That prohibition is the same for other Prophets, Angels, and of course God.
And there is a tolerated difference of opinion on the depicting of live beings in general.

*edit* we do have an idea of what the Prophet (pbuh) looked like because of his companions (ra) who described his looks and mannerisms. (lack of) Knowledge of what he looks like has nothing to do with the prohibition.

Chances are South Park's Muslim baiting is offensive and retarded, but it didn't have an idolatrous intent. The threats against the producers' lives is just ridiculous, though. No one deserves that.

I'm asking this as a point of clarification for myself, not to be a dick or angry up anyone's blood.

that Prohibition should be exclusive to Muslims only, shouldn't it as they would be the ones at risk? Anyone not adhering to the Muslim belief should be free to create an image of Muhammad if they wish given that they are not bound to the same restriction/temptation. Given that free beings are free to not interact with people that would depict Muhammad in ANY way they wouldn't be subject to that outcome you described.
