Thanks for keeping these coming Plague. And yeah, even though my connection with Masa Red was always horrible when I tried to play him, I could still tell he's up there in the Shun ranks.

 

Plague's House - TEAM TOURNAMENT

OK! More vids from the massive double-elimination 11-team tournament. Eleven team captains were agreed-upon. Their names put in a basket. When their name was drawn, that captain selected one player in the room. After the first round pick, captains names went back in the basket. The name drawing and player selection began again.

There was an interesting twist: Because of the number of entrants wasn't divisible by three, two paper slips in the name basket had the words "two player team" written on them. When one of those slips was drawn, the next captain to be drawn could have only one person join them in the fray.

As it worked out, nine teams had three members, two had only two.

In a two person team, one person has to lose twice in one fight to be eliminated.

Oh man, I could not help but to laugh my butt off at all the reactions to the me vs. Konjou match. Too bad they didn't video tape the match vs. him in the tournament the next day. VFDC people would have been scratching their heads from now til eternity. I could literally hear the feces half excreting from some of the people behind me during the match. It was a beautiful match too, that had Konjou playing the same way as in this one, except much more 2p. When it was over, the only response I got from someone after the match went 1-1 and the final match 2 rounds a piece was: "Thank you DubC for losing... Konjou would never have lived that down on VFDC".

Great community! I'd be happy to show up at any and all future gatherings!

I actually did get that match on tape. I watched it again last week. I can't remember the full details but I will upload it and most of the vids from the gathering in the near future.

I installed Sony Vegas encoding software on my laptop which has all the footage but I haven't tooled around with it to figure out how it works. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif Its on my to do list for this weekend.

I think you misunderstood the concern. People weren't worried about Konjou's rep, they just didn't want to have to read yet another post by you talking shit about him.

Apparently this concern was unfounded, since you lost and yet are still talking shit anyway. . .

oh yeah, Plague, how do you get the clean ass quality for your vids when you upload them to youtube? I have been uploading some vids from my handycam but they look all compressed. do you have to buy an acct with youtube or something?

DubC, please realize that the only person getting shoddy treatment from a lot of the vfdc community is you.
I already know how you're going to counter this: "Oh yeah, I personally know another person who was being treated shoddy too, so it's not just me. The VF community sucks, it's not me, it's the VF community."
No.
It's you.
That other situation that you could've used to "plead your case" about how awful this community is, was settled.
Take some responsibility and realize that if you hadn't rubbed people the wrong way, nobody would have said shit about you. You would've been just another face in the crowd like a lot of us. A few people stood out at that event because of their skill. You stood out at that event because you did a lot of stupid shit.

Out of all of the people that showed up at Plague's house, name another individual that gets treated they way you do or worst.

I'm not going to derail this thread any further, I know that these words will just fall on deaf ears or worst: you'll get on your defensive soap box and come back trying to dis me and discredit what I wrote or whatever. Do it, IF you're too hardheaded to see any other way than your way then nothing anybody else writes contradicting how you feel matters, right?
Just know this: you can dis this me and this community all you want but I know you can change for the better, I know that deep down inside of you there's a good person that just wants to be accepted.

I look forward to the day you realize that you are at where you're at today because of YOUR actions, not anybody else's.

Sorry plague, was sarcasm, and Tony isn't entirely right. There are some really cool people in the community... and there are some people that needed the computer screen in front of their faces before opening up the mouth (not you Tony, you are one of the consistently honest people). I'd still show up at Gerald's house though, because LA people are just mad chill, and it's always good down in LA.

If anything, the post-gathering response (all was great at the gathering, everyone was cool, stuff started getting silly back at VFDC) just soured my taste for the community (that and when there was an incident with Renzo that made me not want to deal with the chill NorCal group getting "infected" - I'll show up in the future guys at some point, give it time). Combined with the fact that I hated online play, made me play the game less, then I just got caught up in other things, and began to care less about what goes on in VFDC. Do I still love the game? Best fighter ever created. Has much of the fire died? Yes. Thank you VFDC. You freed me to not feel the need to be obliged to this game, and allowed me to indulge completely in social things, without having to worry that my VF game has gone down and I'd no longer be as competitive (probably played an average of once a month, since).

You already know that you've got talent for this game. Just don't let it go to your head /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif stay humble and you'll see all of this other crap blow over. We're all gamers and most of us have pretty short attention spans so things will be forgotten soon enough. At any rate, you've taken the high road and I respect that. Please don't let other people, including myself, ruin this wonderful game for you.
