    Bugger.

Anyone know if tenth anniversary mode is in the PAL version yet? And how to unlock it if it is?

God, this is a really bad release. The save system is the same terrible system of the japanese version, despite I remember promises that it woudln't be, they ruin Vanessa by giving her only one costume, for no logical reason, and Brad looks worse.

No widescreen support options (unless its by default and i'n not noticing), nothings changed in the options in general, awful. Its not as bad as SOME PAL screwups, but its damn frustrating, i'm once again impressed with Segas ability to screw up a good thing.

    Promises from whom exactly?

No offence and there is a good chance I'm mistaken, but I can't remember anyone making any such promises.

To be honest I don't recall who, but i remember distinctly reasons to beleive that it would be changed comming from something someone from Sega said. I have the memory of a goldfish however and don't know who to blame.

I could be wrong, it probably wasn't "promised" but I really beleive it was suggested it would be, but regardless, it should have been changed, its a terrible system for VS.

Yes the save sytem is bad... confused the hell outta me first as I didn't know how to name character files etc... then realised you do it all in quest mode.
On the other hand the graphics look astounding compare to vf4 and the majority of moves etc... have been tweaked in the right places.
Coupled with the sheer depth of gameplay in quest mode ( especially those who like play as loads of chars ) and all the added stuff like combo training built in and all sorts of tasks for newbies and old hands a like to do I'd call it an essential purchase for any one even remotely interested in beat em ups however this is only my own opinion and some may argue it.
Already up to 136 wins 2 losses on my Akira file and cleared the first few arcades.I'm sure this'll bore the hell out of all those alredy with a copy but at least we finally ( and officially ) get to play this great game! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Haha damn straight!I'm up to 5th dan now with 226 wins 5 losses. The Arcades get steeper at a nice rate and ranking up is smoother. The amount of depth though is incredible. You'll see what I mean the minute you start quest and look at the stats. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I think the plan was to cut down on the needlessly swapping mem cards all the time that people played one another etc... on a ps2 but unfortunately in cutting it all down to one system file on one card they managed to cock it up in royal fashion!

Some lucky folk getting Evo early it seems. Looks like I'll have to wait for Friday before I get mine. But on a positive note I finally got my Hori Evo stick, and it's fantastic. Don't have a problem with the loose feel of the stick, as it's much more responsive and comfortable to use than my old ASCII piece. Button placement is perfection and the stick motion is smooth as silk. Overall, I'm really pleased, despite customs slapping an extra £10 on import tax.

I also suffered from this. £11 customs and £13 parcel force clearance. What exactly do I have to do to claim it back?

I found out now that there are several shops in the UK that sell Hori sticks:

    www.newageconsoles.co.uk
    Game Focus on Goodge ST
    www.consoleplus.co.uk

and 1 or 2 others. This way you cand avoid big customs and delivery charges in future.

My stick got delivered by UPS, so parcel force had nothing to do with it. Basically after I payed the £19 I called some UPS pre-flights number and the operator took my details and said the £10 Brokerage charge would be refunded.

The check is in the post.

Thought it was around £50 odd.? Anyway others are saying that www.yesasia.com ship for free to the UK and they sell the stick for the equivalent of around £30.

Seems like theres a price to pay if us UK gamers want to play games the way they were meant to be played!! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

yeah I guess all good things come with a price..

but like I said before worth every euro cent /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Rather have some good stuff that is expensive then some cheap rubbish.
and rubbish we have enough here in Europe..

Oh god yes I totally agree!I bought 2 logic 3 sticks to play fighting games with on my ps2 and the box said " made for gamers by people who really know arcade games " or something.Complete rubbish! The sticks were were so stiff there were almost un - moveable and the buttons were too small and totally un responsive. No my imported SC2 stick is amazing and I've no complaints about it for the month or so I've had it.

I only tried those "other" joysticks in shops I never actually bought them..cheers there mate for having the courage to do so.
The only joysticks I ever bought are the Sega ones, one for the Saturn and the one they did for DC (both for playing Virtua fighter.) And ofcourse the Hori VF 4evo one.

I just love the loose-ness of it. Everything is bloody responsive..just check the input in the Free training.
Without any problems all commands go in..
Some people seem to have problems it being so loose.. I just like the sticks that way.
