Opinions on VF5FS DLC Item Format/Strategy

Yeah that's my beef too. It could have been similar to how the arcades have it (or maybe had it, I've stopped following), so to me it's just wasted potential in making the game better. Well better for me anyway, I liked unlocking cloathing for my fighting barbies.

 

There's going to be plenty to do in FS besides grinding for unlocks. There's so many items for each guy, you'd probably never be able to get them all if you had to win them online.

They're giving us over 14,000 items, that's enough play dress-up for just as many hours as you could spend grinding for way less items. It'd take forever to get just 100 items for your character; I'd rather have all 1000 to combine for each character than 100 just for my main. I want to see other people's costumes as well.

 

I hope that there are enough goth clothes to go around for each character. I prefer something dark, unique designed.

 

There is only License Mode in the game, no Quest mode, sadly. But License mode is going to have a ton of content too.

And Sega has already said that all custom items will be DLC. The sad reality is that the XBLA limit isn't allowing them to add in anything. Even adding 1 item to each character is maybe 2 - 3 megs total, that can push them over the limit. Trust me, we had this situation at my work many times.

 

I don't understand why MS will let full retail games be sold digitally, but XBLA games have this 2GB limit. Seems kinda silly to me.

 

S'what I plan on doing. I expect to only buy the DLC for Kage, and maybe Pai.

You should stick with Goh or Jean, then. Or Aoi. She's got a lot of cute, Goth-ish, lolita-type stuff to choose from.

 

There is a description that you can play customized characters on special sparring mode(sort of quest I think). It's locked at NCR due to DLC items.

 

Hmm, that kinda sucks that u cant unlock at least the basic items they had in vanilla if i'm hearing it right. Will the different colors and patterns still be there for the costumes? I'm already planning on buying the DLC for all the characters. Even though i'll be playing mainly Aoi, Vanessa, and El Blaze I would still like to see everyone's customs online.

 

Btw, in the VF.TV episode the dude was saying that there would be a 9 and 10 character pack for the DLC character customisation. They would obviously be at a discounted price; so if you wanted all character customisations then that is the easier and cheaper solution. Otherwise you would buy each character pack seperately.

 

So you're buying customization by character and not by sets of items? Kinda surprised, because an across-the-board approach would keep folks paying, whereas if you could just pick your favorite character, you'd get that.

 

Yes you're buying by character. So buying DLC for a character unlocks all items/item sets for that character.

Also, it seems like Sega really did want to have most of the DLC with the game originally; and you can sense the sincerity in his tone/mannerisms and what he was saying...so I doubt they actually wanted to extort with this method. Hence the fair DLC plan.

 

But thats what would make sense from a customer point of view...the other way around would be a scam lol.

I wonder how much it will be to buy all of them.

 

I do like that it's in 2 packs- so if I want to support the game, I can.

$20+$18+$20 for the game is more then a fair price.
