I think that we have waited long enough for the home version of VF5FS, to let some DLC items spoil our joy. Namco, SNK, and Arc System Works charge us for extra characters and stages. On the other hand, SEGA is giving us the full game and the only missing part is some customization items that doesn't affect the gameplay. I don't understand why we must complain. If you like the DLC items, buy them. If you don't like them, don't buy them. It's so simple.

The problem lies to the fact, that many people didn't understand that a) VF5FS is downloadable title b) there are limitations about the size it will have c) SEGA will charge extra items, not characters.

If the home version of VF5FS, with a new single player mode, a VF4Evo style Training Mod, a strong online mode and DLC items, is a way for SEGA to express their hate to the VF community, then please SEGA I want more hate from you !

My 2 cents, when VF2 was in the arcades, I spent about $10 a week on it for over a year. When I was studying in Japan for 2 months, my 2 VF4 cards had a combined 300 losses. Thus, I can confirm I have spent at least $520 on VF2 and $300 on VF4, just in the arcades.

Even if FS ends up costing $200 with all items, I'll be getting my money's worth, because I'd spend a HELL of a lot more trying to get those in the arcade. I'd much rather pay a few dollars rather than grind for weeks for a single pair of bunny ears.

Besides, I really don't think it can get as bad as Blizzard charging $25 for a Sparkle Pony in World of Warcraft. We're likely to get the whole VF5FS game for less than that. All modes, all functionality, online and no characters missing. Why does that not sound like a bargain to you guys?

I do agree though, adding a free costume viewer would be great for people who want to just check out the content. Someone suggest that to Sega at Final Round.

Pitching it in terms of value to the customer isn't persuasive IMO. It's clear they're offsetting the risk of poor sales by charging for additional, cosmetic content from fans who already like the item system.

MS has some pretty stupid policies about DLC/XBLA so who knows. I am skeptical of that line because a lot of devs will rationalize much more costly DLC packs with convenient excuses -- but intentions or no, I'm still glad we're getting the game at all.

It's not a big deal to me because it's very clear that even releasing the game is risky in terms of profitability.

It's not a matter of money here at all for me. As I stated before I intend to buy all the DLC, but I don't like the fact that people who don't have the same intentions can't see what I purchased (online).

I just want to add something else here. If we can't see each other's custom clothes then there is a very good chance we won't be getting the movies that play before the matches on youtube.

He wasn't asking to wear the items he was asking to be able to see them. Personally I think it's very unfortunate that people won't be able to see other peoples items because because they have to buy them and they won't all fit in one download.

I am happy to buy them on principle but less happy that other people won't be able to see them. I also agree with VF2011 that being able to see other peoples items could lead to more sales of DLC.

I wonder how they'll handle the DLC. Will they have some kind of in game shop for it where you can browse the items in the packs or will there just be descriptions on XBL marketplace with no pictures?

Shouldn't matter too much if the game plus all DLC is over 60$. How much was VF5 new with the items it had/came with? 60$.. I'm only guessing, but my character with all the items seemed like it had 75 of em all together. Think of it like that..

14,000 (just typing that number seems ridiculous lol) items won't be very cheap i'm guessing. But i'ma buy a lot of em just to support Virtua Fighter.

I have hope that eventually, if not right away, we'll be able to see other peoples' items they bought that we didn't. Let's see how it unfolds.

Actually Feck, 1600 points = $20. You get 80 points for every $1.

I'm guessing $20 will be the final price for FS. As for the DLC, I dont mind what Sega is doing here as long as they're not charging for crucial features. I do hope that they will allow other players to see your items even if they dont have them.

Also I hope Sega lists the items they're selling in each DLC pack so we know what we're getting before we pay.

Yes, let's all only pay for a third of the DLC. I'm sure that will really make Sega want to keep supporting the community.

I want to know if any of the people complaining about the paid for DLC were the same people who said "I'll pay any amount for R or FS on console" when we were begging and petitioning for it.

Because some people don't like being happy and instead have to pick flaws in everything?

We're getting FS with lobbies, Evo style training mode, some fun match types (low gravity sounds fun), more items than there are currently members of this site and people still whine that Sega are screwing us over. They're not. If they did what Capcom did and pulled a Megaman Legends 3 on us, that would be screwing us over, but considering they're 3-5 months away from release and are doing a fair bit of promotion, I can't see that happening.

Bottom line: Everyone be happy. We're getting it.

Sega listens to the fans and releases VF5 FS. They listen again and add the party system to the online and improve the training mode. Even with all of this, people still find something to bitch and moan about.

I happy Sega is giving us Final Showdown. to see Virtua Fighter get something new period. I am happy that a online party system were added. I am shocked that they improved the tutorial mode. What is there to complain about? I swear, and people wonder why companies don't bother most of the time.

While I am somewhat disappointed that the option to win items against other players will not be included, it's still just a minor gripe compared to what is being offered. I have no problem buying the DLC, but, I do believe that not having other players see the items will hurt DLC sales. In a way, having other people view items they don't have is a good way of advertising them. To some players, seeing an item that they believe is cool might increase the chances of them buying that said item, regardless whether they use or won't use that character.

It's possible that SEGA could release optional updates that will allow players to see but not use DLC they don't own, tons of other fighting games have done it. We're only assuming this won't be the case based on one sentence on a Japanese site that was then translated.

We should just slow down a little and wait till we hear more [IMG]

PSN put a stop to the game sharing thing just recently anyway (which was a policy Sony specifically allowed in the past, btw).

Ash, no one should be made to feel obliged to spend a specific amount of money on DLC. Sega isn't a beggar and we aren't a charity. The truth is, this is the first gesture of support they've shown in nearly half a decade. It's great that VF5FS is coming out, I'm buying the game for both platforms and possibly raffling off a couple copies here too, but that's the reality.

A lot of the DLC sales that other companies do for niche titles (Atlus, Aksys Games) are driven by a desire to offset the risks. KOF13's DLC was $20 of on-disc EX characters.

I'll be buying the (most) of packs myself but I'm not going to tell anyone they ought to. I might say the items are cool, though. I think Sega knows they have a great game that more people should play on their hands, but since VF4 Ver. C on PS2 it has not been commercially successful. That's 10 years.

Asof this moment, I solemnly swear to buy ALL items for ALL characters, even the ones I don't use. I definitely need to have everything, I just wouldn't feel right without it..

Someone please close this thread... It's useless complaining... Sega's actually doing something and cats are still whining... We're not being dicked around Capcom-style, so stop sweating...

At the very least, show some support... I'm pretty sure there will be a patch for customized characters to be displayed without having to buy the item at some point. Sega does tend to say things, and do the opposite, but maybe not in such a trollish way...

Or at least change the title to "Bitches be bitching bitching".
Can't wait to play you all when final showdown drops.
