What DLC isn't locked to your HDD/profile? If there's anyone out there that still isn't used to how DLC has worked on consoles this gen, let me know where they are so I can give them a hug.

Trust me I found it stupid too, but since with a compatibility pack you had the dlc locked until you pay for it, I recall seeing people bitching about it when the second tirade of costumes were released for SSF IV

This. If I went online and played all sorts of cool/funny characters I'd want to get the DLC items if I didn't already. For example if I play Wolf and see all sorts of cool Wolfs online I'd think it was pretty boring to keep running standard Wolf against these guys.

Other than that I think it's perfectly fine to charge for the extra items. The item packs are huge and the game itself is practically free.

I believe that was the intention, and it's probably the most reasonable thing I've seen written on the internet about the DLC. That said, there's no shortage of people whining about it, even now knowing how cheap it is. I don't get how these people don't realize that their argument basically boils down to 'I want it...but it's not worth paying extra for!...but without it the game is worthless! I won't buy the game, it's Sega's fault for scamming us.'

Personally, the only issue I have at the moment is the compatibility thing. Really no reason not to do that.

I think its great. All up including the 2 DLC packs is still less than most games without DLC. Besides the DLC has no affect on the core game itself. But yea my only issue is people not seeing costumes if they dont have the DLC.

Will there be costume items that we can unlock in the game like in the OG VF5's Quest Mode?

Does any of that carry over?

We don't know for sure, but we don't think so. There won't be any unlocking, when you download the item packs you get access to every item immediately. 600-900 items per character!

If you don't DL the items, you do get 5-6 default options to choose from.

Has it been mentioned somewhere how this works offline? Do two players have to log in separate gamertags to play VS, and they have to have separately unlocked the items to see them? As opposed to playing two characters off same account in versus..

As long as uncompatible characters show up as default characters its sort of ok for me, but if they show up in speedos (like in SC5) its a <span style="font-size: 26pt">MASSIVE</span> letdown. Im holding my fingers crossed now.

I also hope theres compatibility packs, but for me they havent worked so well on SC5. I cant see why 'compatibility pack' couldnt be wholly automatic since its free in the first place.. Just deletable in case your console HD runs out of space.

I think this has potential to be again one of those minor fuckups that end up having a huge effect on people, like VF5 vanilla online matchmaking or the lack of record mode.

However it looks like Sega is offering a better deal for DLC this time around and I will most likely purchase the item bundle.</div></div>

Why are you guys still talking about 'disc locked content'? There is no disk. FS is only available in downloadable form..

I agree of course, because I am probably going to play as Sarah at least 99% of the time, and I don't feel like spending $45 when I could spend $20 of that money.

From what we played at the Pre-Launch, it appears much the same as vanilla. That is, you'll only have access to whatever items that are "available" on the console you're playing. There is no notion or value or purpose to having a second player logging into the console.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">As long as uncompatible characters show up as default characters its sort of ok for me, but if they show up in speedos (like in SC5) its a <span style="font-size: 26pt">MASSIVE</span> letdown. Rest assured that the default costumes are in place, and I really like how they've implemented access to customised characters.

If you recall in vanilla, you basically had a long ass menu to scroll through, but now, the neat thing is that everything is accessed via the character select portraits. Basically, you move the cursor to the desired character from which you can select a default costume, or if you want to access your customisations for that character, then you press R1/RB (I think) and a little menu appears for that character. From this menu, it appears that you can save up to 5 customisations per character.

If you watched the Pre-Launch party stream, you may have noticed this when Chibita and Fuudo were selecting their custom characters.

Except if you would want to carry your custom character with you when you travel elsewhere. [IMG] I know this is not a very important issue, but its something that was possible in vanilla VF5 on xbox. For example the Korean VF player using his custom character on the big screen of WCG VF top8 in 2008. Im just curious if this is still possible. Propably not due to huge amount of customization options. It might be possible if we can save a character into some XBL cloud though.. [IMG]

I don't see why it would be impossible to put your game save and profile on a memory stick and just load them where ever you go. Why would that not work?

From what I've read all customisations are loaded from a single profile, so you can't load costumes for 1p from one profile and 2p costumes from another one.

I don't see much of a proble with it, though. There's no win-loss records from what I've seen, so you'd just have to recreate your character customisation from scratch on other consoles and all would be well.

    It's gonna be awesome.

While you can't carry your customised profile. You can customize a character and save your custom set under the specific character.

So while you won't get wins and losses at the very least you'll have your own Akira etc..

It's the square or x button to bring it up iirc.
Even if the option was there, how many of us really used it in VF5?

If there is more than two people it becomes a nightmare to be honest. Because removing memory cards while the game is on I'm pretty sure the 360 will go nuts. This method when you really think about it is the best for everyone.

I would rather they worked on something worthwhile than something that people will rarely use.

    Ah well..

We all begged for this game for two years, there's no way you can truly love VF and then skimp yourself on ALL the dope items they're offering over $20 bucks. Makes no sense to me.

    THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!

I guarantee you will be so thankful, over the next unknown-hundreds of hours that you spend playing FS, that you have every item. You're going to want to be able see everyone's characters and the outfits they spent hours perfecting.

If SEGA is offering me the content that I begged them for (i.e. all the items) I'm so happy to give them $30 for the two item packs I wish I could give it to them right now.

At the end of the day/week/month/year, $45 dollars for an amazing game we've literally begged for, that we will spend hundreds of hours playing against each other, is an absolute STEAL. SEGA was thoughtful with this port and included almost all of the bells and whistles we asked for (tutorials, all items, sick practice mode options, replays with frame data displayed) -- it's all there!

SEGA hooked us up big time! Let's return the favor if we can and have the means. The sheer number of items makes it worth every penny imho.

I'm buying this on both consoles, so buying all the stuff with the game is going to cost over 90 bucks.

Hopefully news about a this whole compatibility being tweaked comes up, because I would prefer just buying my character's DLC and still be able to see everybody else's gear.
