Finally started looking at ways to get there since its closing in. If I didn't drive I'd have to take a train from Parkesburg to Penn station, then to riverhead. Maybe I could meet up with some of you there whenever you plan on going.

Johoseph, have you figured out a schedule on going to Riverhead? Me and some other people are planning to be leave on Thursday the 4th. Trains on that date are leaving for Riverhead at 12:15 and around 5.

We are most likely meeting at NY Penn Station before 5 to give my friend from southern NJ that's coming along some time to prepare for the commute. It would be convenient to have more people with us to lessen the chance of getting lost.

The trains from Parkesburg arrive at Penn Station at 8:28am, 12:15pm, and 2:21pm on the 4th. Looks like I'll be doing some waiting regardless which train I choose to catch from Penn to Riverhead. It's better than getting lost though so I'm probably going by train. I'd be up for catching the train at 5, so I guess I'll be there hella early unless I figure something else out /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

Taking the 5:00 train seems to be the most ideal for everyone I think. You going by yourself?

Coming alone as far as I know, don't think anyone else lives in this area.

My cellphone just recently took a swim with me so I won't have it for a few days now, but when I do I'll toss ya my number. Are there rooms left at the hotel or is everyone just kind of playing it by year?

Ok guys we need a little cooperations from every as we are coming into the home stretch for NYG7.

Could everyone who is bunking together please post your 4 man room? We are holding a lot of rooms for this event and would like to get a final count and release what ever we don't need back to the hotel. Each room needs to appoint a captain so to speak who will register for the room. Once everyone arrives at the hotel it is up to EVERYONE to be responsible and make sure that the captain collects the money to pay for the time stayed. I honestly think this should be worked on the first day when you guys are kicking back in your room, so that when the time comes no one has to be chased down or someone escapes due to having to catch an early bus/plane.

I hate to do this, but I feel that this must be said. So in turn let me extend an apology to anyone who feels this may be offensive.

    DISCLAIMER:

You and only YOU are responsible for your belongings. The hotel will not be responsible for anything lost. Let's all respect each other and other peoples property. Stealing and disrespecting will not be tolerated as we have no room for delinquencies.

I also would greatly appreciate it if everyone would respect the hotel grounds, rooms, etc. This IS Adam's fathers hotel and sanctuary! He has been providing the VF community with a consistent place to hold events for over 10 years. Any harm done to the grounds and rooms will be perceived as complete disrespect to Adam and the kindness that his father provides to our childish cause.

2 Local friends coming with me

I have the room already reserved and have discussed all the info with each person in the group.

** The 4th person coming in our group may be backing out, if that's the case we will have room for one more. I will update when I know for sure what the deal is.**

Do you guys think if my flight is scheduled to land at 5:00, I would be able to make it to that 5:41 train? Pretty risky I guess if there's -any- delays haha. What would taxi fare cost me for that sort of trip. I'd imagine a grip ya?

EDIT: Nm, Oioron pointed out I was wrong about the station lol. Looks like taxi may be my best option. Anyone else arriving in JFK around 5 ish PM that would want to team up on a taxi?

Hmm, Air Jacky, you get in around 5 at JFK too? You already got transportation lined up? If not, wana split the cost on a taxi?

Hey guys - just an FYI: Taking a taxi from JFK to Riverhead is NOT recommended! It will cost you well over a $100!!! One of our old VF3 buddies did this, and his wallet got raped.

Also, please note that if you arriving at JFK, do not take the train from Penn Station, as you will just be going west (when you need to be heading east). From JFK, take the AIR TRAIN to the Jamaica station on the Long Island Railroad.

    Two options:

1). Take AIR TRAIN from JFK to the Jamaica Long Island Railroad (LIRR) station. It isn't too far from the airport. You will need to catch the 5:47 departing from Jamaica, going to Riverhead. However, please note that you will have to transfer at a station called Ronkonkoma for a 6:53 connecting train to Riverhead. Once you get to Riverhead, give me a call, and i will come and get you. See this snapshot:

2). Take AIR TRAIN from JFK to the Jamaica Long Island Railroad (LIRR) station. It isn't too far from the airport. You will need to catch the 5:44 (or later) departing from Jamaica, going to Speonk. However, please note that you will have to transfer before then. See this screenshot for transfer info. Speonk is about 15 minute drive from Riverhead, so call me when you get there, and i will come and pick you guys up.

So, for people worried about there not being enough departures to RIVERHEAD, please note that you can take the LIRR (from either Penn Station or Jamaica) to SPEONK as well!!!

SPEONK is a short drive from the hotel, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle for one of us to come and get you.

General Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Info

The Jamaica train station is the closest to JFK Airport.

You will need to catch the AIR TRAIN ($5) once you arrive at JFK to get to Jamaica station.

For people arriving in Manhattan (via bus, car, etc), you have to catch the LIRR from Penn Station on 34th Street.

This website is your friend for LIRR train schedules: Long Island Rail Road, bitches! You guys should familiarize yourself with it.

To catch your returning flight from JFK: There aren't as many departure times on the weekend, so while we will do our best with the limited resources we have (cars) to take people to JFK for their returning flight, we cannot guarantee it. It may be best to just take the LIRR from either Riverhead or Speonk on Sunday. See the weekend schedule below.

YUKI for the save! So you really don't mind picking me up from Speonk? Chances are, Air Jacky and I would probably end up on the same train/time, so we could get two of us at once.

Speonk is such a cool name.

    Thanks
