Hi Llanfair, if I really said that about Hammerhead then I'm sorry about that but I remember saying that I was the only member from the UK and that this wasn't a proper UK team cos only one member was from the UK. I thought a one on one event would have been better for me as there wasn't another UK member. Anyway I know I'm not perfect, so what, who is? Is arrogance the worst crime in the world? I am very competitve, always have been, always will be. I am not begging for friends and don't get any ideas that like I think I need fans to be good at VF cos I don't.

Shang actually takes pleasure does he? Hmm, ok maybe I'm just wasting my time trying to meet up and make proper sense of the whole thing. It just seems a shame that you can't make arrangements with people to sort stuff out properly these days.

 

ryan, please dont take this as an offence.. your a nice guy in person, and i have no beef.

The main point here is If you just lost the Mr.T - "I pitty the fool" attitude with everyone once in a while, people like shang would probably have your respect. ---- you can step on your own reputation sometimes with your selfness.. *shrug*

take note, there is no argument against this point, just try to be abit more considerate when you deal with other people's pride.... and stop making everybody out to be an insignificant brush off compared to you....

dont wonder why you make enemies this way. it's just simple logic.

Hmm, well, I think I'll probably chip in here to balance things out a little.

I've met Ryan on three occasions now, and he's always struck me as very polite, friendly, and extremely helpful. What would the UK scene be without his constant organizing, prodding, and teaching? Competitive and determined--yes, but that's what it takes to be the best, and I never felt he crossed the line. Not an angel, no, but not an asshole either. I've always felt welcomed on the two times I visited the U.K.

As for the tootin' his horn thing...let's face it, all of us who didn't get a chance to attend the event would have loved to hear about it. This is probably a selfish thing to say, but I'm glad Ryan posted the results, and I would've told him to post his opinions had he asked me beforehand. I also thought it was fair game for Shang, et. al. to criticize. Shang I think more out of humor than anything else, and also because no one else had the guts to speak up before him.

If I did that well against Homestay, I'd probably be showing off too...most everyone here would. And I do think that people who feel the need to show off are the ones who are ultimately insecure about the result. I.e., beating the most recent Japanese champ is not par the course, but really the exception to the rule. (Two cliches in one sentence, how cool am I??)

 

Your character is alittle like Ryan at times. See you soon right?

Haha, probably why I empathize with the guy...though I suck now, having been stuck in this desert for the past three months.

ok, i'm gonna make this clear. for the sake of other people who dont deserve it.

Please dont bring the rest of UK into this subject before you want a brand new flame, i'm sick to death of people generalizing UK thinking they have a clue what they are talking about when the ones you call pimping ryan is all around this and all his other threads. I find it hard to even name 5 regular UK posters at all.

All he has to do is visit a country for the first time and people start to talk like they have had some sort of spiritual exorsizim of evil souls, then you can count how many UK people are contributing to pages apon pages of ryan reports from other countries........i wish people would just shut up and change the record about UK.

i was fine with your post until that point. i dont mean sound so mad at you personally, but this sort of thing has popped up at times in the past. and it is simply unfair......

 

BK, I don't know about the other guys, but I personally learned about Ryan from this board when I first joined, from some UK posters. At that time Ryan wasn't posting much but people said that he posted under the name Terminator. I didn't say "everybody" from the UK, I said "many" which is probably unfair like you said, but this is not really the point of my post. In fact in my early days the only non-UK person who told me about Ryan was Ice-9 in a local meet when we were talking about VF scenes in the world.

I apologize if I upset you with what I said. But please don't think we are just generalizing for no reason or basis. I feel bad saying this to you personally, because I have always felt, and still do, that you have been one of the most humble and respectable UK players ever. But just because you personally wasn't part of that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Whether it was from regular posters, non-regulars, newcomers, or casuals is beside the point too.

You say it's unfair. You and some of the other posters from the UK were not really the target for that statement, since you obviously didn't participate in what was called Ryan pimping, right? The thing is that I don't recall (m)any explanatory posts like the one you just wrote above directed at Ryan from other UK posters before. If I missed those then I apologize again. That silence MIGHT (stress on might) have translated as approval from the majority of UK posters to the eyes of other readers here, even if that wasn't true or wasn't the real intention. Sounds bad I know, but in my opinion this is how it works (this is only a personal opinion).

Tsuujin: It's one thing I wanna ask you about: When you are playing VF, are you trying to win no matter what and do the combos with most damage? Or are you playing to entertain(nice play) and win?

I personally love to have a attractive style of playing., even if I playing in a important tournament.

I only met Ryan once, a quickie recently in japan,,
but i'd be afraid of him..
he's a tall skinny black man,, and all of my skinny black friends have long fat black ones.....
and it will hurt.. so if i had to choose between getting OWNED by Shang or Ryan,,
i'd pick Shang,,,, Ryan i know will pound me good..
