My fault couldn't remember Lindstrom until after looking at the brackets again.

Man, last night was so bad ass!

    Great tournament!

Femto: Was great to play with you at my place while we waited for the PDX guys to show up. I feel like I'm just starting to get what you've been talking about regarding defense. I've really been playing without evades this whole time and I'm starting to try to really work on fuzzy and evading.

Anton: We had a great set! Really fun back and forth games, I wish we could have streamed it. My heart was pounding the whole time.

Lindstrom: Playing this guy was a blast I felt like it was my brother from another mother. Someone that finally understands that sitting on the wrong side of your character is the worst thing in fighting game! Haha! And both of us playing broken grappler BS crap for 50% life. Hope to see you again at more events.

Panda: Still getting owned by the shoo shoo strings. I was happy to be able to take a set from you. Clearly a long way to go still, but I was pumped at the improvement.

Masa: Pure ownage, wasn't even close. Sets the bar of where I'd like to be one day!

PDX guys: Really awesome of you guys to drive up. I like how having more people drew more entrants. I think physically showing up is a big part of building community, and you guys are doing that. Thanks!

So yeah, small turnout for VF tonight, so we just got in casuals that focused on the basics of what some of the new player needed to work with a mixture of working on the more intermediate/advanced things with people I play on a regualr basis....with a pinch of experimentation against said regulars using other characters.

Had a great time, hopefully things will pick up after Sega Cup, but from my end, no guarantees since I gotta kick the IRL beastness into high gear.

GGs tonight and it was good seeing people coming out for the first time.

I feel like I got the flow down and no when to be aggresive, just need a taaaad more work on my recognition.

Can't wait to see how it plays it out at Sega Cup!

Already got money set aside for those. We can use the money we'll win from other scenes to have more NW vs NW money matches!

Pretty excited with how things have been going, sounds like Slugfest was great!

On the horizon, the next Best Bout Beatdown (and the last one before a short hiatus over some months) is coming up early April. A Slugfest may happen before Sega Cup (but currently scheduled same weekend). We then have Sega Cup in LA. And the word is, Northwest Majors (@Seattle in June) will have Final Showdown!

On top of this, R Panda has been doing a great thing hosting Dojo sessions in Portland and even establishing a tournament for players not considered in the Best Bout Beatdown winning group (basically, the players who have won a Beatdown in VF already). If you want more information on Panda's dojo sessions and tournaments for non-BBB winners, send him a PM! They have been popular and have established more VF players in the area.

    Excited VF Season this year!

Cool little side note: It's no secret that you could never hear my monitor at the gatherings due it being drowned out by the other games. I forgot my sound settings in the game were set low, so when I maxed those out, screams of "YYYEEEEAAAHHH!!!!" overtook the other games.

Downtown Dojo Amateur Event 3 is almost here! This is happening Friday, March 29, at 7pm.

Virtua fightin' all night long! Serious training and fun!

This is the third installment of my VF tournament series catering to newer players. Fight amongst others without a Best Bout Beatdown Champion title as you play a double elimination tournament for the entire pot (entry fee of $2), and the chance to play me in a ft5 for $10, at no risk to you. Tourney starts at 8pm. Come for the money, stay for the training.

Zonymash has remained King of the Scrubs for two events in a row now! Again he avoided defeat after a reset, using the power of 2P and hidden characters to ensure victory. Can anyone outlast his gimmicks and claim this event for a new name, and give someone else a chance at the $10 Final Boss bonus round?

While focused on beginner and intermediate training, I'd love to see the stronger Portland crowd come through. Let's show these guys what's up. ;3

Equipment includes two Asus monitors, a 360+TE, a PS3+TE, and a dual modded hitbox. Private house with fair parking and space for 20 players easy.

Good shit to Heaton for getting in on some VF action at Final Round!

Haven't watched the videos yet but, from the tourney brackets, the matches went down the last one.

Just a friendly reminder that we have an active and growing VF scene right now, and this is the place to check out if you want to see what we're all about!

It really is all about Facebook groups nowadays.

Everyone should be going to Portland's Best Bout Beatdown 22 tomorrow!

Here are some of the reasons why:
    • It is going to be the last BBB for awhile (honestly, maybe ever).
      • The current Best Bout location will be closing up in a week while the man behind Best Bout takes some good R&R. They are planning to move to a new location, but nothing is in stone yet. They are also looking for people to help with a new generation of Best Bout!
    • The roster is going to be great!
      • Most (if not all) of the top VF players in Portland are pretty much confirmed and we will also have players from out of town. Furthermore, Panda has been doing an awesome job of rallying a new generation of VF players and they are getting stronger and they are as serious as anyone! Portland VF is thriving!
      • Honestly, I have no idea who will win tomorrow.
    • This will probably be the best pre-Sega Cup tournament in the Pacific Northwest!
    • Because it'll be fun!

Congratulations to R_Panda! He played the best VF of BBB22 and deserved to win it all!

I had a great time, good tournament! Glad I was able to claw my way out of the loser's bracket, though Panda slammed me back down lol.

GGs to all! Awesome times hanging out and playing VF with everyone! Awesome turnout!

    THE FINAL THROWDOWN
This next Throwdown Tuesday on 4/9/13 is going to be the last one (at least for awhile)! So please show your love for Best Bout and local competitive organized (and public) fights!

Best Bout Beatdown 22, "Da Final Showdown," was quite the success and especially in VF5:Final Showdown where we had 14 entrants and some spectators! Congratulations to R_Panda on his victory at Da Final Showdown! Also a huge thanks to Mike B, Sorias, and AfroCole for coming down to Da Final Showdown! It means a lot to us and you guys are always awesome!

    WHERE NOW? DOWNTOWN DOJO
For those wondering where the Portland sessions will be happening from now on, more likely than not they will happen at the Downtown Dojo. However, because the Dojo takes place at a private residence, people who want to go will need to contact R_Panda directly to get the welcome and location to the event. I will encourage him to post the events up and maybe we will work out a stream for future sessions. The Downtown Dojo has been a successful endeavor by R_Panda and we have seen the Portland VF roster and scene grow through R_Panda's work. On top of that, Panda has been hosting tournaments for players not considered in the "Portland Top 5" and that has been very successful in developing talent and strengthening the overall scene!

    NORTHWEST VF ON FACEBOOK
And for those that don't know about the NorthwestVF Group on Facebook, it has been the #1 place (pretty constant activity a few times a day) for Northwest VF discussion and coordination since Final Showdown was released. That said, keep in mind that it is a strictly moderated environment (because of the needs for its narrow focus--it's not meant to be a model). The group is meant to be for players from the Pacific Northwest (including West Canada) only. Here is the link for the NorthwestVF Group on Facebook:

      Downtown Dojo Amateur Event 4

Virtua fightin' all night long! Serious training and fun!

This is the fourth(!) installment of my VF tournament series catering to newer players. Fight amongst others without a Best Bout Beatdown Champion title as you play a double elimination tournament for the entire pot (entry fee of $2), and the chance to play me in a ft5 for a raised $25, at no risk to you. Tourney starts at 10pm. Come for the money, stay for the training.

shinryu has found his footing, and taken an Amateur Event! Overcoming Paracles' wild Brad, shinryu took first in the four man round robin that was DDAE3 (http://challonge.com/ddae3). Fatbear stepped in as a Special Boss to defend $10 of my money in a strong ft5 with shinryu.

Can shinryu maintain his composure and the title in the next bout? This is the perfect training ground before Sega Cup, so don't miss it!

While focused on beginner and intermediate training, I'd love to see the stronger Portland crowd come through. Let's show these guys what's up. ;3

$100 Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus Tournament

There has been a huge push for Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus at this event. ALERT!!!
There will be an extra setup to run a single elimination 2/3 game GG tournament with a $1 entry fee and a

      *** $100 ***

minimum purse!! That's right, no matter how many entries there are, Alex Kelly has generously offered to increase the purse up to $100 with his own money to entice us to play this crazy airdasher. He will even be starting every set with Jam, not his main character! With these odds, it would be stupid not to enter.

Equipment includes two Asus monitors, a 360+TE, a PS3+TE, and a dual modded hitbox. Private house with fair parking and space for 25 players easy.
