Tonight's Thursday Night Fights should be interesting! For a preview, here's a link to last week's tournament!

Also excited to see how things turn out on December 15th at Saturday Slugfest @ Dante's!

    Portland, OR
The Portland scene has gotten incredibly competitive and this Saturday should be incredibly entertaining @ Best Bout Beatdown 18! I honestly have no idea who will win or who the Top 3 will be, it will be hard fought for sure!

However, X-Factor Friday this week should be a perfect preview!

Here's a quick breakdown of some of my recent opponents and my thoughts on them:
    • Yangsing - In recent matches, he wins the majority of our matches. He understands the game, he knows what he's doing, and he understands my game (warts and all). I have to play very dynamic and smart VF to fight him, and he can tell if I fall back on small habits. He keeps me the most honest.
    • AJS - We are very back and forth now, it's a lot like my rivalry with Rayblade. Some days we break even. Some days he wins. Some days I win. Very hard to predict and some levels of hard-countering as we over-read each other (but we do tweak this as we fight).
    • R_Panda - The last time we fought he played probably the most mature game he's presented to me and it evened the matchup out. If he keeps playing maturely and also carries that maturity inside of him, he's a big threat. If he lets things get to his head or takes some things for granted, I'll pounce on him. But he's really scary when he's patient but also sharp. I honestly hope he brings that mature game on Saturday because it's how he should be playing and it can win.
    • Fatbear - More people see what he brings to the VF table now and he's probably the most exciting Portland player to watch right now. Fighting his Akira is incredibly fun, and very very hard. I hope we fight this Saturday!
    • Shinryu (Hollis) - He's leveling up, but he's hitting a rough barrier right now. It'll pass and he should be much stronger when he gets through it. He has been showing his determination, keep doing that! I'm looking forward to seeing his game level up soon.
    • Mackinzie - The last time we fought, Mackinzie really showed he can bring it. It took awhile, but he's been playing without a console for this whole lifespan of FS in america and is doing great. Great news, he now has a console again and is able to practice! Keep it up, you should be in the mix in no time if you keep practicing!
    • Shinryujin (Red Dennis) - If he musters up the drive, he will level up. But he's got a lot of stuff in front of him right now (real life and other games wise). That said, he's playing great VF, the rest is up to him ^_^

I can't wait for this Beatdown. As always, I wish I had more practice, but I think I'm coming into this tournament with the best mental attitude and psyche I've had since Evo, and honestly I think it's going to make a big difference.

Yeah, so I'm trying to pick up either AE2012 or Marvel, not sure which one yet. Got hit with a competitive bug recently and want to take a break from VF. I like SSSFIV and liked AE when I was in Beijing. The two characters I like are top tier do maybe that helps. Marvel is dumb enough and I want to see how far I can get. Feelin SF more at the moment, just wish the damage was higher.

Dunno what it is, but since VF clicked with me I've been able to watch other games and go "That's why this or that happened" and would like to test myself in those areas. I remember fhis happened around March but was just focused on VF at the time.

Had an awesome time at Best Bout tonight! Probably played some of my best VF, and also felt most others had moments that showed their best VF too!

Seriously, I think we leveled up! If it doesn't feel that way, I think it's only because everyone's leveling up together.

Panda, Yangsing, Shinryu, Jaye, and AJS--thanks for the awesome matches tonight!

Also, really nice to meet Grant! I hope VF continues to interest you and we get to play more!

Best Bout Beatdown is this Saturday! It should be an exciting tournament to launch the New Year!

Sorry for posting it up late, I had trouble connecting to VFDC on my last few attempts to set it up.

For future reference, I guess I should say BBB19 VF was canceled. Only AE was run.

The twentieth Beatdown will be on the second Saturday of February, the ninth. February's Slugfest should the be the Saturday after that.

I have more definite plans to attend Saturday Slugfest VII this weekend. Please also attend, Seattle...

Just to let people know, I'm not going to be able to attend BBB tournaments from here until May due to work. I'm going to try and show up on Tuesdays and Fridays for the rest of the month then will probably be sporadic in showing up on Fridays after that.

Also, looks like I won't be able to make Sega Cup since I've got a friend's wedding to attend on the same Saturday. Good news about that though is the wedding is in Tokyo. I'm going to try to get in some solid time in Local VF hotspots so maybe I'll come back with hot new tech. On that same note: Chanchai do you know if Yosuke is in the US or Japan now? Would love to meet up with him and his group for some VF!

Thanks for the heads up AJS! Hoping to get as much practice time with you as I can!

    Congratulations to your friend!

Regarding Yosuke, despite his Facebook still saying Albany, NY... I believe Yosuke is back in Japan. Also looks like he went to Beat Tribe Cup and has "restarted the VF life" hehe ^_^ He is a tough one to reach, but do you want me to at least send him a heads up saying you will be in Tokyo in April?

Yeah, for sure! As of now it looks like I'll be in Tokyo from the 17th - 21st but really not 100% yet. Also gotta meet up some other friends while I'm there but I should be somewhat flexible while there.

Message sent ^_^ I hope you're able to meet up with Yosuke again!

Wish you could go to Sega Cup! I'm still very much planning on going. That said, again, happy for your friend!

It's too bad about Sega Cup and Beatdown weekends, but going to Japan for a few days is really pretty awesome anyway! Hope you have a great time and get some real training in. Hope we can play a good bit until you can no longer attend BB weekdays.
