Actually I never went to the first tourney. It was Zass's gross ass Wolf that won and The Show placed 2nd with his Sarah.

I won the 2nd Tourney, Duncan won the 3rd.

I need to hit up The Show. I feel he can have a solid Sarah. We played online a bit in a NW Lobby session, and he started picking up on some stuff, and at that point I feel he just needs to get better aquainted with the system, and poke more to set up his opponents with Sarah's ridiculous frame traps.

So far I've been winning against the less experienced players with shenanigans, but I hope to run some casuals with them, to hopefully give some pointers.

Russell: I played him in the 2nd tourney and did the RD shenanigans to just finish it, because I'm not trying to go toe-to-toe with ANY Jean. I know he's just jumped into it and learning on the go. That dude is hella buff in the regards that he wants to play and do tourney's every week, since he like learning on the fly.

I feel the same way about Cole's Goh and Goh in general. He's super simple in this one, but he just needs that simplicity and your life bar is D O N E. I felt more comfortable fighting Cole's Akira compared to his Goh, but I'll have Goh's shit dl'ed soon enough as well as Lion. I feel right now Cole should stick with Goh instead, but he's the tourney vet, so he knows himself better in these situations.

I feel Sorias just needs more time with the system and play a little more Standard VF as of right now. As of right now, I feel he is going into Aoi's more advanced stuff too early in the matches, and paying for it against more simple, yet effective tactics from the opposition.

As far as my performance in the 3rd Tourney. Watching the videos are really hard as I let the match slip away which it should've been a done deal and wrap. I ended up doing what I said I wouldn't do, and got punished for it. I went to the well too many times, but that's ok. Also where "n00bz" should understand about using [G] to cancel strings, I'm doing them too much, therefore stopping momentum that I should've had.

The Arist Formely Known As AirThrow just picked up the game and he is using Jean as well.

I mentioned earlier that I don't feel there will be a HUGE VF scene, but I would like to see at least 10 buff players in this game, that can actually maintain and put into practice the more advanced stuff. I hope to be one of them. As long as there is that, I don't care if we have more than 10. Selfish and douchey? Certainly.

Thanks Femto for pointing that out, I even live-commentated that match between Zass and The Show! Really embarassed, I misread a bracket somehow, but... I've put in the correction, but let the original statement stay in there to validate you point it out ^_^

    Thanks man!

So happy that AirThrow has picked up VF and is giving it a shot!

Hi guys, I just registered right now and this is my first post. As I posted on the FB group, I got FS yesterday and I'm borrowing a stick today to practice. I can't wait for the next tournament but I definitely need a lot of practice until then, not 100% sure I will stick with Jean until then, but I like him a lot.

Like Mike I have never cared that much about massive numbers in the game I play (I'm an ST player primarily), as long as there is a core dedicated group then I am satisfied. But hopefully we can get some good numbers too, just for variety's sake.

Keep me in the loop about VF gatherings cus I need to catch up in total games played to you guys who have had it since launch, I've only ever played it one evening so far!

Hi Airthrow, just want to say it's awesome to have you giving VF a shot and you know that I'll do my best to keep everyone in the loop as far as I can, and I know Femto is really doing a ton of legwork for the VF scene up in Seattle also. Keep it up, and keep supporting your local offline VF events too!

I'm really looking forward to playing VF with you!

    Hi GrooveA,

GGs on Friday! Sorry I couldn't give too many specifics on Jean, I really didn't know much of his move list. I just know what works against me and what it looks like. Though it seems you figured out to use that charged flying kick on me a lot, haha. You've got a really smart in person resource in Mike (Femto) so be sure to bother him a lot! He ended up surprising everyone with secret system tech that I don't think anyone knew/remembered.

Curious about the Hitbox progress is going. It's one of those things that I look at and immediately know I can't adapt to that, LOL. I think R_Panda got one as well, but I think he said he's waiting until after Evo to practice up a lot with it.

GGs to everyone in Seattle and super big thanks to Zass for hosting! Hope we can meet up again soon for more offline games.

AJS it was real nice to meet you even if I couldn't put up that much challenge yet. I got a stick today and was discovering some combos and setups within a few minutes that I think are pretty cool, but of course doing them on dummies and doing them on real people are two different things.

I'm thinking about using Jeffrey just because no one in the NW does (I think)? What is the point of picking Jeffrey, and what do those moves where he follows up with a smack and he changes his stance do? Sorry for the newb questions but there is so much information it's pretty overwhelming since my experience so far with VF is picking Blaze in vanilla and hotdogging a lot.

It's always good to have more Jeffry players! So far the Northwest has Kamais Ookin (BC player, I can't remember Vancouver or Victoria) and A-Groove is learning Jeffry too!

That does not mean you cannot or should not, by all means play the characters you really want to play ^_^

I like what Sebo has written about Jeffry so far. Things like how Jeffry's top throw priority changes based on situation because he can do some massive damage throwing you into a wall (I think that's what he implied anyways).

I'm really glad you got to play AJS!

Keep it up man, and I am really looking forward to playing you soon!

Yeah, if you decide on sticking with Jeffry you should read the Jeffry dojo section, the posts from Sebo.

A-Groove is much closer to your level, but when you want to be tested so I can give you advice through player matches let me know.

Unfortunately I'm living in a place where I only have a wifi connection until September or so, once I move I will have a better connection and get XBL again. Until then I have to play in person and training mode exclusively, haha

I think the easiest way to describe Jeffery to someone new to the character is that he's a very honest by-the-book brawler. He generally doesn't have reversals, sabakis, weird hitbox moves, or any of the other crazy character specific stuff. In exchange, he gets above average combo damage, and solid gameplay both at long range and up close.

The best thing you can do to start up with Jeffery is just learn generic defense. If your ability to evade and fuzzy-guard is there, then the damage will follow. But he lacks any gimmicks you can rely on to shortcut learning the defense to just start winning matches.

Honestly, I played Jeffery in vanilla (albeit not well...), although I haven't had time to really look into his FS changes. I can definitely show you a few basics next time there's a gathering.

So went to the Best Bout night last night; pretty fun, stayed way too late. Got in some good rounds with a Pai/Jacky player and then played a pretty solid 90 min of Vanessa/Sarah vs. R_Panda. His Brad is vicious, I don't think he ever misses damage if he gets the opportunity, and he mixes ducking/slipping stuff up nasty. Unfortunately I am still getting past the "don't do stupid shit on reflex" stage, so it was little bit one sided. Couple of good matches, definite learning experience. Also stop fucking up throw escapes and HIT THE GODDAMN FL3K COMBO YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT. Would have probably taken a couple more matches if I would not just 3pk on reflex when I see that crumple.

Really coming to like Vanessa in FS, think she's going to be a good secondary. Need to learn DS better; it's harder for her to open people up than Sarah since you typically can't get in with as much advantage on block, which is really Sarah's core asset. Had some fun fuckarounds vs. Eileen before he had to bail.

May be late in on Friday if I can make it at all, but I'm definitely going to be regular down there. Hope to see more peeps next time so I don't have to spend my time getting sodomized in AE.

Good stuff, last night. I gotta land Blaze's combos off the opportunities more. So many much lost damage in my matches.

For those of you in Seattle that are not going to Evo, GameClucks is still planning on running our usual weekly. There will be no stream (or my setup) this week as I will not be there. Details here.

For those of you going to Evo, if I can find you, I'll be rooting for you.
