1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

So is anyone going to EVO this year? I am and I know the rest of the responses are going to be at SRK but I'm just like poking things with dead sticks.

Hopefully if news drops about R we(me and Sorias really) can figure out how to get the scene jumping, if it all started.

And here I thought I was going to have to create a Portland thread.

Portland VF might be having another surge this Spring. Fighting Fever is in the air since we are establishing regular places for playing our favorite fighters now.

SF4, TK6 (now in Portland), and KOF12 (how the hell it came out in Portland before Japan, nobody knows how the heck this happened)--these games are kind of bringing crazy interest in fighters back to larger numbers. Fortunately, nobody's forgotten VF5 around here either.

The Fight Nights @ Versis are still going on, especially now since Street Fighter 4 is out. In fact, they've been better than ever lately and more and more people have been joining the sessions.

Furthermore, the two games that are mainly played at the event the past few weeks have been Street Fighter 4 and Virtua Fighter 5! (though mostly Street Fighter 4). We're hoping to get the VF group all back together and playing weekly again.

Anyways, here's the general info on Fight Night @ Versis (where we have been playing VF5 on Thursday nights):

    Where:
    Versis
    1356 NW Civic Dr.
    Gresham, OR 97030

    When:
Every Thursday - 6pm until we kick everyone out (last 3 have been going past 4am)

    How Much:
$6 covers your whole night of fighting game playing, starting at 6pm

    What to Play:
Fighting Games on 360/PS3/Wii (soon to be PC), access to computer for internet, whatever you would like to bring if you are so inclined.

Adelheid, I'd really like to meet you for some VF playing.

Which area of Portland do you live? Are you interested in playing offline? We do have some decent players in the Portland scene and we're starting to get "the band" back together.

Anyways, let me know. We're always happy to have another VF player in the Portland scene!

I live in the Beaverton area now, but only, like, four MAX stops away from Portland area.

And that'd be cool. I feel like I've lost my game since VF4, and some other Portland players would be amazing.

What days and times are good for you to meet up and play?

My schedule is pretty tough to work around, but... I'm usually available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the daytime.

Also, if you don't mind going way out to Gresham, I run a videogame center there and we have the game and an arcade stick (and I could bring more). I can usually play on almost any day I'm there, after I get off shift. We also have Thursday sessions starting at 6pm there.

Would like to meet up with you and introduce you (or reacquaint you if you know them) to some of the other Portland VF players.

    -Chanchai

P.S. I'm also open to playing VF4 ver. B (PS2 VF4 was Version C, and Evolution is a different game) at Lloyd Center. The screen cap on my profile pic is from that cabinet many years ago (gosh, must be 9 years now) ^_^

My days are pretty much limited to weekends. I work weekdays at the Oregon Zoo, and with summer coming along, I'm getting closer and closer to full time. Also, I don't mind making it out to gresham, as long as it's within Tri-Met, lol.

It'd be really cool to meet many of the VF players here, and get heavily into the game.

    Hey Mack,

It was good playing you on X-Box live earlier ^_^

Man... way back in 2000 when VF4 was in the arcades I went up to BC (on a VF trip even) and had a great time hanging out and playing VF with players like Moby, Mutant, Tellure, etc... Good ol' BC. I wonder if much of those arcades are still around. I think we mostly played at Lion's Den.

Adelheid, we'll have to figure out some common time. But work is work. We'll figure it out though, I'm looking forward to it.

Would be great to eventually do a big Northwest VF thing with players from Oregon, Washington, and BC.

For more Northwest VF chatter (I prefer to have the conversations here though), check out this thread at SRK.

    Hey Adelheid,

Myself and the other Portland crew hope we eventually find a common time that'll work out in our schedules to meet with you and play.

We had another Thursday night session last night at Versis and it had some really good competitive play between Rayblade, Yangsing, Mackinzie, Bobby, and myself.

Last Friday we hosted a Street Fighter IV tournament (next one should be May 15th) and in the after session, there was some good VF play among various players too.

VF5, SFIV, HD Remix are the norms at our sessions (sometimes CvS2 and Third Strike too).

I totally understand the schedule thing though, I'm in the same boat myself. I wish my weekends were more open...

Anyhow, Yangsing's Kage and Rayblade's Vanessa all drive me crazy. In a really good way though hehe.

Bobby, Mackinzie, Taijiri have good potential, just need a lot more serious match experience. Hien makes it out now and then and is quite solid.

I'm still sad that Ratgoat is out in Central Washington or something. Hope to fight him online or in person again soon, though it looks like he's really taken a liking to SFIV.

As for some of the more dormant (but around) players in the Portland scene... Shinryujin has a tough work schedule (and Portland has Tekken 6 now) and Raishinken has stuff to take care of first. Now that Tax Season is over, I need to drag @js out of the accounting rhythm and back into VF :p

That's right, I'm resurrecting this thread!

It's great to see that there continues to be more VF players in the Northwest. Some that come out of lurking, some that have moved in the area, and some people who just caught the VF bug after some sessions.

Good stuff! It's been keeping Portland VF alive!

In Portland, our more regular group is Rayblade, Yangsing, OMNE, R_Panda, Pasqual, Mackinzie, Taziri, Hi3n, and now we have Jannon!

We also still have some of the other players like Shinryujin, TheUnkanny, and I am looking forward to meeting Ilthuain! And I'm sure I can drag Andrew back into it eventually--the dude got so good at VF!

And in Seattle I know there are guys still down with playing so maybe we should get something going again. And everyone knows they have a great talent pool as well!

In any case, the VF never really died in Portland and Rayblade even went to NY for VF which is always awesome. We also almost always play VF at the Thursday Night Fights at my store, Versis.

So I'm gonna keep the conversation alive (and also hope a Final Tuned with home port gets announced)!

    Northwest VF is back!

So what's the status with VF in Portland. I know Ray is moving for future endeavors and about Versis closing. You guys play casually? Still going at it hardcore?

Zass(Julien) got me back into this game in Dec. and even tho' I'm busy with school and work, I figure the spare time I have I would like to use for VF and HDR/ST, instead of being a drunk all the time. I never did play as much when I had the time(and there was a scene) but that was due to life being gay and getting in the way. Might get into Super IV but who knows...

I just wanna be dope at VF.

We still play from time to time, but I guess life hits everyone.

I'm adjusting to married life (happily I might add) and some new responsibilities.

Ray is also going through something similar (not marriage, but he's going down a new path).

But we all still love our VF and we actually have a pool of good players but everyone's on their own schedule.

    Chanchai
I imagine it'll be at least 6 months before I can balance fighting game life with my new life. But I'm looking forward to when that happens.

    Rayblade
Journeying through life. He'll be going to Hawaii.

    Yangsing
Doesn't play VF anymore, but I'm sure some of us can drag him back into it. The guy was getting really good at VF and he forced me to play damn serious!

    Hi3n
Always down for VF, but usually busy with a combination of work and working out.

    RPanda
The guy seems always down for VF. Want to get more sessions with him.

    Jannon
This new guy has so much potential and is already quite good despite playing along or with local friends his whole VF life. I need to get more sessions with him and sometime see to it he becomes a great player. BTW, him and Panda are pretty cool so I think they challenge each other from time to time.

    Jetay
Always down, always respect for the game, also good potential in the game. His focus has been SFIV, T6BR, and ST (he hates HDR, well Sirlin actually, though) of late.

And that's just the quick off the top of my head. We have others like Shinryujin who is always down but he's been reprioritizing his schedule and what not.

At the moment, Portland VF is kind of on standby but we still play now and then and we have some damn fine players for sure.

Yangsing, I've seen you online a few times but I'm always logging off or about to. Trying to take up Jacky and get caught up with school, so hopefully we can play a few games next time. Hopefully FS comes to console.

From talking to various people (online chats, posts on other threads, and meeting people at both gatherings and at PAX), I know people still check this thread ^_^

To let everyone know, I'm slowly starting to play VF5 Online again. The reason I say "slowly" is I'm still trying to manage my work and husband time right now. But it's getting there and it looks like I'll be actively playing VF again (and KOF on the side also!).

    To update the Northwest Community...

Zas from Seattle has had a recent Seattle VF Gathering and I hope he continues to do that. At the gathering he had Femto, Jason Cole (of Street Fighter fame), and Clayton. If he doesn't post about it here, I'll keep updating this thread about it. Both Zas and I want to prepare the Northwest for FS, to bring the scene back up to speed, and perhaps have a stronger showing next year!

I imagine anyone reading this has read my PAX Reports. If they have not, here it is, all compiled--and it's a lot of mini reports. It will be a lot to read/skim. And includes links to videos ^_^

For the Portland players, I'm thinking of trying to schedule maybe twice a month, specific dates at Best Bout Gaming for VF activity. This won't be easy for me nowadays, it used to be very easy for me in the past, but I'll see what I can do!

In any case, Northwest VF is happening again. It'll probably be slow for a good while, but we're here to help people prepare to take the online and offline sessions by storm!

Hi Kil, nice to meet you!

Do you know any of the Fighting Game players in Seattle that post on SRK? Do you know Zas/Julien?

If not, I know Zas would like to meet more VF players in the area ^_^
