The Top 4 for tomorrow is

Winner's Finals: Chanchai vs. Jason Cole (Afro-Cole)
      Loser's Bracket: Zass30 vs. Femto

Femto vs Zass... I like them both so much don't know who to root for.... So I won't root for either of them. :p

Chanchai, you got this bro! [IMG]

This is an excellent point Tricky and why I "exploded" in the previous page, injustices really bother me. The admin didn't seem to give 2 shits either, there was no pressure on him because hey who cares about VF! That's how I felt anyways. VF was supposed to be streamed for a long time and not a single glimpse of it was seen, I guarantee if the same "power" issue happened to MvC3/SF it'd be back up within the hour at most.

      Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry I didn't post about this to you guys as it was happening, partly because I had trouble connecting to VFDC much of the day (does anyone else get hello world pages now and then too?). But I admit that while participating at NWM, I was mainly focused on playing VF and talking VF to other participants.

It is unfortunate what happened to the stream on Saturday but as stretched as the staff (volunteers) were, and how many tournaments they were handling, they had to give priority to the primary tournaments.

Also, please dont shoot the messenger (in this case Slash), he was constantly busy and worked hard to get FS at the event and some prize support from Sega.

The lack of outlets in one half of the cafeteria hall (the half that was designated for VF) was an oversight, not by the admin, but the coordinators.

Slash was frustrated as much as we were about the issues but he was locked into managing a lot of jobs.

Anyways I intend to write more about the event in detail later. Ironically I'm typing this on my phone, as my wing of the hotel's power has also tripped. Seriously!

wow power issues all over the place. Couldn't the coordinators have put VF, at least the top 16 or something on one of the other streams that was working? I've been to a couple of tournaments now and there is definately this second class citizenship feeling sent out toward VF exclusive players and it's frankly frustrating. We often get the worst TVs to use too. No hate directed toward the messengers and people putting this together, but this general mindset of "well who cares about VF anyway, and they're lucky to be here in the first place" needs to go.

The only way I can think of changing this is to just be loud about it. If folks have other ideas for how to change this I'm all ears.

I don't see it as second class citizenship. They weren't sure they'd have vf5 FS until 2 weeks before the event, and no real certainty until Sega sent them codes and shirts.

On top of that the game isn't out officially yet so it's competition for many people is based on one day play in general.

They could have done better, but I get no feeling that there's some animosity, conspiracy, sense of disdain, or superiority over VF players at all.

I'm not talking about just this event. The issues with the streaming just gave an opportunity to discuss a trend I've noticed in the past. It existed with vanilla. I dont' want to keep going to events and seeing that the VF setup is always the one that gets the CRT monitors instead of the nice 2x HDTVs for every other game.

I hear you, though if the CRT setup has less lag than the JD I'll take it :p tongue in cheek, but sorry that's happened.

If it helps, at this event I overhear only positive talk of VF and shock that it's only $15 and has an awesome training mode. On the other hand, the game that gets the most disrespect is SxT, and MK gets neglected or isn't taken seriously.

Also, Yutari(?) Throw Escape is something we've been showing others and it's helping to demystify the whole "oh VF is about insanely complex throw escape" myths/hype, and getting people more comfortable with a bit of layered defense. Less fear of the unknown seems good [IMG]

That said I do let people know that they then have to worry about guard break combos, low attacks, and the other two directions of throws if they're relying too much on Yutari TE Guard.

I'm seeing way more throw breaking too [IMG] And with good faith and reassurance for a lot of players. New people asking: "what direction (is that throw escape)?!" big smiles on my face [IMG]

Plus: WWE fans seem to out loud enjoy my Wolf mirror matches with Zass and Femto's Blaze ^_^

Foreboding Warning: it's likely the VF matches get delayed. Jason Cole is a real awesome guy, but I hear that a common occurrence is tourney officials wondering where the hell he is :p
