Hello everyone. Browsed VFDC for some time and decided to finally join. Not entirely decided on character yet but leaning towards Brad. I'm on EU PSN, hopefully see some of you there.

Pleased to meet everyone. I stumbled upon VFDC completely by accident, but I was glad to know that there is a dedicated Virtua Fighter community on the web. As you can tell by my avatar, I primarily like to use Aoi Umenokouji. I'm not really good at VF, but I still enjoy the series.

sup guys. I'm new to videogames fighting communities. I originally played vf3 when I was a kid. Did not play 4, and got back into vf with vanilla. nice to see a caring vf community.

    Hello all!

My name's Mat, and my girlfriend and I are both newly-made Virtua Fighter addicts!

We used to occasionally play Tekken, because we thought that it was the best that fighting games got. Boy were we wrong! After downloading the demo of Final Showdown on the 360 and playing it a handful of times, we decided it was well worth the $15. A few days later, not only are we both completely hooked, but we both purchased fighting sticks to improve our game (neither of us having ever used a stick besides years ago in an actual arcade)... Now neither of us choose to use a standard controller to fight.

The balance and mechanics of this game are incredible. Tekken feels so clunky in comparison, and is too easily manipulated by simple button mashing. VF takes endless patience.

We are both looking to others to spar with that are close to our level -- We're about two or so weeks into playing, having the basics down but sanding edges. We've each been trying to use one character 80% of the time (or so) in order to master one at a time in a sense. Anyone looking to spar just send us a message saying you're from VFDC.

    Hannah8791 (gf) (main Vanessa)

NOOB Question: is it worth the $7 to pick up a used copy of Virtua Fighter 5 Online having never played any except Final Showdown? Was thinking about it just for the added one player game modes and whatnot... or is Final Showdown that much better (/similar) that it's not necessary?

    Hello everybody!

I'm Axel, I happen to stumble on VF a couple months ago and just happened to like the way the game flowed. I'm a previous Tekken player, but nowadays it isn't the same up there as it used to be. Nowadays on Tekken, I make careless mistakes not because I was doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, because I literally just don't care for the game as much as I used to. The passion I once had for Tekken is long gone for the time being.

So then I searched for something new on Youtube and I happened to find the video of the Virtua Fighter basics. I didn't really understand them much at the time but I was determined to find out what VF was all about. After buying the game, I looked to Sarah or Akira to be my main since I also play Dead or Alive 5 & Ultimate, but she didn't seem to really cling to me. Then I researched move lists to find out what character really matches my play style, and then I met Aoi Umenokouji (With a little Sarah and Akira on the side. In training though.) That's who I currently main every since that day Lol

I'm trying to learn how to play smart in VF, but also know when it's a time to take a well-educated risk at times. Pretty much overall trying to balance out the two when the situation arises. I've learned quite a bit since I first started but I would like to spar with more people who use different characters so I can have a well rounded amount of research data for my knowledge. That's how I learned to play Tekken. It's take me a while to collect, learn, implement, and efficiently use what I've learned so frustration happens a lot to me. But I keep trying though until I can finally get it right.

So anyone who wants to play against me in a couple room or players matches please let me know, I really would like to spar against as many people as I can.

I'm only on the 360 side for now. However I do plan to buy the game for PSN as well so please add on both if you wish.

Stick with FS only, use extra funds to buy the costume pack.

I would recommed that if you post onto this thread that you also check the local scene forum and see who else in your area plays the game.

You can the try to play each other online for a better connection or better yet go to offline events in your area. Your acceleration in learning the game will be much faster at event gatherings than playing online all the time.

Also check out theYouTube training videos by Sega of America to understand the concepts of how to play vf.

    Greetings to all.

I've had Final Showdown since the day it came out, but have hardly touched it. I'm familiar with the system mechanics and such but am absolutely terrible in an actual match. I was hanging with one of my friends today and I decided to attempt to learn this game, and boy is it amazing! (Though I suppose everyone on here knows that.)

As for other fighters, I'll play anything. The main reason I started playing VF is because I was out of other fighters to learn...I couldn't avoid the steep learning curve forever! I'm rather fond of BlazBlue, and I'm in the middle of learning DOA. (I'm trying to learn Akira so that I can also use him in DOA5U.)

I don't have Gold at the moment or FS on PS3, so I'm a little out of luck for getting some matches in with real people. That'll change soon!

    But enough talking about myself!
    Good day to all.

Welcome to the forum. Just wanted to note, the doa and vf systems are quite different. You won't be able to play akira in vf like you could in doa.

Thanks for the advice. I'll stick with Kasumi until I get a firm grasp on all the finer details of both fighters then.

Yup, I'm from Texas. This state has Tekken, DOA, VF (kind of), SC (kind of) and 2D fighting game players.

Been coming here for years, might have signed up at one time or another but I don't remember the account if I did.

Spent a lot of time playing VF1-3; probably over 3,000 hours between arcade and console.
I remember back when, importing a Dreamcast and VF3tb so I could play it early.
Had all the Gamest mooks from back then, too, even most of the VF characters from UFO catchers.

Tailed off playing during VF4 as I didn't have as much time.

I don't play much anymore but I still love VF :)
