New to VFDC? Introduce yourself here!

Hey what's up my fellow fighters?I'm not new to VF but new to VFDC. Just registered and I just love friendly competition. Im a fighting game lover and I also play Tekken and SF,but here recently I've dropped everything for VF (for obvious reasons). Starting off playing other fighting games I really learned to love and admire VF for it's deep and rich gameplay. I play on PS3 so add me if you like. My main is Jean but I can play with Akira, Sarah, And Jacky. Pureblack21...

 

Hey guys. Xbox Live had an awesome sale where Virtua Fighter 5 was only $4.99, so I gave it a shot. I'd dabbled in SF4 but was never great at it. Never really tried Virtua Fighter, but couldn't pass it up for 5 bucks after all the rave reviews I'd read for the game.

Anyway, I bought it, messed with some characters, grew partial to Goh, and fell in love with the game. Then realized there's an improved version out, and downloaded Final Showdown.

I liked the new character, Jean, but still exclusively play Goh. I've been at it for a week now, and am looking to find people to play with who can whoop me and follow up with critiques. I know at this point the main thing I need to focus on is purely execution. I have trouble with some commands because I'm playing with an xbox360 controller (Basara combo is pretty impossible), and am not willing to spend the extra money on a fight stick. I'll hold my own at the amateur level.

Hello guys, I wanna play VF but i have a couple of questions.
I'm an older Tekken player
-I hear a lot that VF but why? The people complain about combos in Tekken but in Vf can be more damaging as I've seen, but I'm not sure if it's easier lo launch somebody (?)
-Also, which game is better? VF5 or VF5 FS?
-Is there many people in Europe that plays VF?
-(I know that I could use google for this question but) Is there any info about the next VF? Do you think there will be another VF?

The problem with tekken's combo is that you have safer launcher than vf and also in tekken you can keep hitting the opponent on the ground and guessing right to avoid damage is much more difficult.

VF5FS hands down

We aren't as many as other game's community but we recently made our bonds stronger after Cannes. Depending from where you live i think you will find someone to play with online and even offline.

Right now there are just rumors because the Model 4 is out now (usually every model out means a new vf). But VF5FS is the most recent vf right now and making or even announcing a new one won't make the game sell better.

I think FS is the fairest fighting game there is, although it might not be as flashy as Marvel or Capcom games, it's still a lot of fun to play. If you like chess u'd probably like FS too.

I didn't realise of it but considering that SEGA has selected two VF characters for DOA I think that means that there will be another game for sure.

1-Why the people say VF is dead? I come from online on PSN Europe and I have find lots of people playing it, from beginners to experts.
2-Is the SEGA cup an anual tournament done for the console players?
3-Does somebody knows if the patch that SEGA has done for the arcades will come to consoles?
4-Is this list wrong? (is based on thoughts after testing a bit so it is for sure)
Offense based characters- Akira, Brad, Eileen, El Blaze, Jacky, Kage, Lei, Lion, Shun
Balanced- Jean, Jeffry, Lau, Pai, Sarah, Vanessa
Defense- Aoi, Goh, Taka, Wolf
5- Is Akira the hardest character exeqution and gameplay wise?
6-Who are the overused characters on high level play? Is Akira overused (in low level and mid level I suppose he is)

VF5FS is actually on offer on xbox so you should be able to find people there easier than it was before. However psn is another story that somebody else will answer better than me.

It is a tournament that SEGA is willing to bring every year. Let's hope SEGA does the same for the european community :/

The line between defence and offence characters is really thin, i can use Wolf in an offensive way if i predict well my opponent. Also kage can be played in both ways thanks to his stances (jumonji for the defensive part and shippujin for the offensive).

He used to be, but right now in FS he has been simplified a lot.

Akira and Jacky are really common on xbox live from what i personally saw. However it changes due to preferences in some places than others.

Every game that isn't UMvC3 is "dead" to some people. The term doesn't mean a whole lot these days.

Are you saying that Akira and Jacky are common on low level play or in high level play? I haven't seen many Akiras in the strams I've watched (I really really hate overused characters), but who knows, I've onle seen a few.
And, even if Akira is now easier than before is he still one of the hardest exeqution characters? I have completed the command trainng for all and Akira is the only one that has a command that I cannot consistently do, which is his guard break.

No VF character is overused. The playerbase is small. Play whoever you like!

 

Yes, he has a few simpler commands compared to previous games but 1fkira still has some of the most demanding execution in the game.

Picked up VF5FS a while ago but just started to get into learning it earlier this week. SC5 is my current main game but I've been having so much fun with VF lately that I felt it was necessary to pick it up more than "casually".Thought I'd sign up here to make sure I was learning the right things!
