Hi all, just got back VF5 on 360, s'been a long time since I played...I'm a Shun Di player, and actually found moves coming back to me quicker than I thought they would...Anyway, are there still lots of people playing this on Xbox Live? Need to get gold membership, but might not bother if there are hardly any people online...

If you want to play good players then you have find them yourself go to the good games thread, and xbox live game tag list in the xbox live section. They talk about people that play in your area so you can make sure the connection as is solid or you can arrange offline meetings as well. I can give you a few names if you want to play a few great Shun players jhow and worstplayer (don't let the name fool you he is better than he makes himself out to be) come to mind right away. You can add me as well as a friend if you want so you can spare with me since I am on often. Welcome to VFDC

Long-time Virtua Fighter player, new to the boards.

Basically, the story of my experience with this game starts in winter/spring 1997 when one of my cousins had gotten a SEGA Saturn for Christmas that came with the three games (Virtua Cop, Daytona USA, and--of course--Virtua Fighter 2). Over that year, I saw one lose a fight in Arcade Mode against Sarah (stage 2) and Jeffry (stage 6), and I think Akira (final stage).

Then it was my turn. My 11-year-old butt was getting kicked by a 7-year-old at this game EVERY SINGLE TIME, and he recited every fighter's quotes (I'm 24 now and he's 21--well, I actually did win a few times). When we went in the sound test one day and heard Pai's crying when someone gets a Game Over using her and lets the continue timer run down to 0, he says, "That sounds like someone's crying!". In the fall of 1997, we rented the Genesis version of VF2, and he beat the entire game with Kage without continuing.

My chance at redemption came in 1998 twice at the age of 12 at Adventure Landing and a K-Mart when I saw an actual Virtua Fighter 2 arcade machine. I had used Sarah both times, and the adventure would be short-lived by stage 3 against Shun-Di. Sometimes I just don't know what's up with me and losing in stage 3 in SEGA fighting games when it's the actual arcade version, getting Game Over because I ran out of quarters to put into the machine. It's happened to me in Sonic the Fighters/Sonic Championship in 2000 and most recently Last Bronx in 2001 as well. By the time I got a PlayStation 2 in May 2004 as a high school graduation present, I lost my skill at Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis as Sarah around 2006 or 2007 when SEGA Genesis Collection was released.

By the time I got my PlayStation 3 on Christmas 2009, I thought I would never get the chance to play Virtua Fighter again...until I went to a GameStop on my 24th birthday one year later, and found out that I wasn't out of luck when I found a used copy of Virtua Fighter 5 and tried to remember what I did in Virtua Fighter 3tb in 2000 when one of my friends had a Dreamcast to beat Dural using Sarah (which I did numerous times)...but it seemed Dural finally got her revenge on Sarah after 10 years. While still deciding whether to get Tekken 6, a big rival to the Virtua Fighter franchise since 1994, I'm still playing VF5 to this day.

Virtua Fighter 2 was the game that introduced me to the franchise.

VF2 was my first game too and I still have a working copy of Vf3tb as well and a dreamcast as well, I was lucky to find it in the used games section of a Gamestop a year or so ago. I will never sell it but I never saw a real copy of the game again oh well. Welcome to VFDC, have a good time here

I like technic characters with multiple stance and game play quite hard.
In VF5, I play Shun-DI (newbie), in Tekken 6 : Lei, Yoshimitsu and Yoshi+Zasalamel in soulcalibur.

Il like 2D games to : KOF where I am a great fan of all koreans (Kim, Jhun, May Lee).

Concerning VF, you should try contacting Kingheim, he has (had?) the best shun in france.

If you live near Lyon send me or Kingo a message.

    Yes I saw Kingheim fights.
I know he is a great player ... since soucaibur 4, I always use the same characters as him ^^ (Aka : Yoshimitsu, Lei Wulong and Shun Di)

    Hi everyone.

I'm a Tekken player but I've had VF5 for a few months now and have just started taking the time to get to grips with it. I'm not very good at the moment but I'm able to remember most of Pai's command list now so I'm enjoying myself.

If anybody here would like to add me on XBL to help me get better, then my gamertag is Xiaonanigans.

    Welcome to VFDC, mate.

You're on my list at the moment and I know you have Hazzerone on yours. If I'm online give me a shout and I'll stick VF on for a few rounds.

hello sweethearts. i've been playing the virtua fighter series on and off since the mid/late 90's. it's my favourite fighting game series even though i've never been that great at it (though i'm ready to change that). i bought vf5 on a whim about a month ago - late to the party, i know. i haven't been seeing very many people on xbl and i'm willing to play anyone, so feel free to add me.
