    Heyya there!

Haven't really played VF since I spent a fair bit of time in my college rec area pumping quarters into VF2.

Yes, I realize how badly this dates me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Not playing VF5 yet, but I have it on good word that Santa has an Xbox 360 and a copy for my teenage son this Xmas....

    Hi guys,

New here but wanted to say it's an awesome site, so much information and so many people willing to help.

Anyway about me, not really new to the genre but mainly spent my time on SFIII:TS, SFA3 but local competion has dwindled and trying to play SFIII online is too laggy for me.

Anyway though i'd jump back into 3D fighters, used to put a fair amount of time into the Tekken series and always really liked the idea of VF but I didn't know anyone else that played so had no competition, and now with the online competion I can finally jump in feet first.

Well i'm off to read through the VF System and the glossary, but if any one has any other pointers or advice they'd like to offer i'd love to hear it.

    Cheers all.

  3. Hi guys, been lurking here for a couple of weeks.
I got VF5 with my PS3 when I bought it, and must say I wasn't that impressed at the start. This is my first VF game, and previously have only played Tekken and Soul Calibur fighting games.

Some day when I was bored with my other games, I decided to give it another go. Hours later I realized I had been playing most of the night.. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif VF5 got me hooked. Quest mode in particular.

Now, I still get my ass whooped by Dural most of the time, but overall it's starting to come together.

Time to dig out my old Asciiware stick, and get a USB converter.

Hello! Just introducing myself here. I got VF5 the day it came out on 360, i was really pysched about it because i love fighters but i dont like DOA all that much. It's been in my system ever since, play it whenever i get the chance, i mainly play Akira, but sometimes i also pick Goh, figures i pick the 2 char's that most people say are the hardest to play lol, this being my 1st VF and all.

If you wanna play some Player Match's whenever my GT is Irish Wolf35

Hi everyone, name is Black Dog, I'm a French VF player. I discovered VF with VF4 Evo (I'm quite a newbie), and I'm such a fan that I bought a X-Box 360 and an Hori Stick just to play VF5 !
Jacky used to be my main character, because of/thanks to his striking game, but I decided to master (or at least to try) Goh, one of the coolest fighting game character I've ever seen (maybe event cooler than Rock Howard or Tachibana Ukyo).
Less seriously, I like to play Kage, Lei-Fei, and I plan to try Lau and El Blasé :)!!

By the way, Black Dog comes from a Led Zeppelin song ! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

New and haven't customized my forum account yet. Working with Sarah, have not learned how to Sidestep Offensively or Defensively yet. No idea about Throw Escapes and sucks at fighting Goh.

Currently stuck with playing VF4:EVO until I get a 360 in January.

When I was a kid my brother would play VF2 on the PC. That's how I knew about the series. I proceeded to play 2D fighters like KOF and GG. Eventually I tried our SC and didn't like it. I'm just learned how not to button mash (No combos yet though.) in 2D fighters so I'm interested in something skill based. That's when I stumbled upon VF4:EVO. At a stayover I had a shot at playing VF5 on my friend's 360 and got to Vanquisher in quest mode. I still can't beat my friend's Goh (In fact, the only character I can beat him at is Akira.). I'm learning, enjoy losing to skillful players, and works at being a better player. Probably will be a dedicated Sarah player though.

you story sounds a lot like mine own. I didn't get a 360 for a while so i could only play vf5 at my boys house once a week. Oh god sometimes the week seemed to never end. So I'd practice on vf4evo also. It was mostly good though they sped the game up a little bit so my timing was a little off. I'm still getting used to the new speed.

Hey guys, I'm new as well. Been playing fighting games as long as I can remember. Love pretty much all fighters out there, VF being on top of the list beside Tekken. Been playing VF5 for about 3 weeks now. Would love to have a match with any of you guys :). GT: Z0mbi3 Nugg3t5

I haven't play a Virta Fighter since 2 and I never liked it much. I decided to rent V5 and it was the dumbest thing I've ever done and I regret it and I'm bringing it back. I should've just bought the damn thing because it's that great. I've a new fan of Virtua Fighter.

Thought I'd leave a message here despite lurking around here for quite some time.
Name is Kristian, lives Nottingham, UK.
Long time fighting gamer. Grown up on SF and KOF. Moved into 3D with Virtua Fighter much to the dismay of all my PS owning friends of the times with Tekken.

Joined UKRockers in 2002 with advent of XBOXLIVE. been gaming across multiple platforms ever since. You'll find me on XBOX, 360, PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, NGAGE, Wii, DS, PSP, PC gaming mainly Emus.
Only thing is with growing up, you have to work more hours ive less time to play and dedicate games, learning the secrets and intricasses. so end up buying games playing them briefly not put as much effort as i would like to put in then something else catches my eye. Brought so many titles in recent that are unfinished its crazy.

But Virtua Fighter keeps me hooked.

    Hey guys,

I'm 22, living in Recife, Brazil, and have been playing videogames since I was 3 or 4 (old Atari, good times). At first a 2D-fighter, once they released Virtua Fighter (the first one) back in 93 I was immediately hooked by its amazing graphics (at the time) and different gameplay. Since I was just a kid and the game was so new, it was hard for me to understand many of its concepts, but I could still kick some ass playing Jacky and Lau. Some years later my neighbor got a Sega Saturn and as soon as VF2 was released, we got it. I did pretty well for my age playing with my friends, mostly with Lion and Jacky. I loved Virtua Fighter, but when I got my Playstation I started playing the Tekken series since I didn't have VF there.
Tekken is cool and all, and it was there that I learned the mechanics of 3D Fighting. Me and my rl friends never used any fancy terms or 'studied' hard to play, we just learned the moves on training or even during versus matches and after mastering a character of choice it was all instinctive pretty much. I played Tekken up to the 3rd one for a long time, as I didn't get to own a PS2 myself. Until I finally retired my PS1 for MMORPGs on my PC and rl stuff.

However now, 5 years later, I got a PS3 and have been enjoying it very much. I have ordered a copy of Virtua Fighter 5 around a month ago, as I have always been more fond of it than Tekken or any other 3D Fighting series, and it should be arriving soon. Sadly the PS3 one doesn't have online mode (they should release it as an add-on seriously), but that's ok because I have many friends who I can play with irl, I've always found it more fun that way.
The thing is that now both, me and my rl friends don't have all that time available to practice each move and perfect it at the Dojo before going out for real matches. So do you have any tips for an old vet coming out of retirement and his friends, to speed up the learning curve without missing the fun?

Thanks in advance and nice to meet you all!

Hello all, I just started playing VF5 for the 360. I'm going through the quest to grab up the items for my favorite characters now. Then I'll probably go back and refine my skills. This game is rad!

Hello everyone, new to this forum. Started playing VF since VF1 in the arcades and the sega saturn. I played a little of VF4 on the PS2 but not as much as I'm playing VF5 now on the Xbox 360. It's good to know that a bit of my experience in the old, old VF1 game still applies to VF5 (but there's tons of new things to learn, as well).

I really like the vf5 wiki that is on this site. It's very useful /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I don't really win online that much (i've got a pathetic 2 win, 12 loss ratio! haha) but it's nice to watch and play against real players and check out their strategies.

    See you on Xbox Live!

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and VF in general. I'm a really big fighting game fan, but VF5 is really my first 3D fighter that I'm taking seriously (or will take it seriously as I don't have it just yet). I've browsed through the Wiki and I'm sure to dive into it once I get the game and I know that the forum will provide loads of information to really help me along. My one question though, which character will be best for me learning the basics of the game or should I just play with whoever I want until I find someone I'm comfortable with?

Anyway, I look forward to being part of the VF community (and just so you all know, I've heard nothing but good things in regards to the whole VF community) and I also look forward to making friends with everyone here.

You can learn the basics of the game with any character, it's just some characters have more difficult movesets. I'd suggest checking them all out in Dojo and see who you like.
