Everyone is easy to play but they're also hard to master.

When you start seeing the weaknesses of your character you have two choices, account for them and adapt or bitch and moan on VFDC about how terrible your character is.

You're in London which is handy as there are people in London who still play offline every now and then. Only thing is that they play the xbox version as it's more up to date than the PS3 version so if you play on a pad you're out of luck.

Seeing as you're new to VF I'd suggest Jacky as your starting point as you enjoyed him and he's easy to learn. Only thing is that when you want to start going for max damage combos you're gonna have to learn to check foot position and get his flash sword kick down.

Thanks for the response Seidon. I play on arcade stick only, cannot use pad in any fighting game (except SSF4) so hopefully can arrange matches with a few people soon.

Yeah I think I will stick with Jacky. Looks fun to play with and I like the fighting style. Thanks for the advise dude.

He is a fast and aggressive type of character. He is also easy to pick up as well for inexperienced people as well. If you are into the quick striking type of character lau is a good character for you

ok and easy to pick up in this game doesnt mean the character looses depth right? im new to Vf but not high level competitive gaming, i know my stuff, just need to learn this new engine. Lau seems fun but if hes a shallow character then thats a no go. Characters im looking at are, Kage Lau Vanessa and Goh...what are your thoughts on those characters if you dont mind.

Flash keeps tellin me to play wolf but i think its cuz hes biased ha

Lau may be easy to pick up right away but like all characters in VF he has plenty depth if you take the time to learn his offensive flowcharts. Mastering his fast offensive game takes time since he doesn't have many defensive tools aside from the basics it should make for another challenge for you.

Any as far as the others you mentioned here is my opinion Vanessa is a tough character to pick up right away because she is basically 2 characters a defensive oriented 1 and offensive oriented 1, learning both stances and how they work together can be quite a chore for beginners, I use her decently myself. Kage I don't know too much too much about him but he can be quite a challenge in the right hands. Goh is a defensive character mainly with the ability to negate many types of attacks, his offense flows from his defenses or the threat of them and picking your foe apart can be fun sometimes if you know what your enemy is going to do ahead of time. Wolf's throws and raw damage is off the charts but using him effectively isn't as easy 1 might think. Personally I would fool around with everyone until you found your perfect match that way you have some knowledge of everyone.

I don't think there are any shallow characters in VF. Each character can be played different ways but their strengths and their best approach to the game is always obvious.

A strength at a low level will almost always turn out to be a weakness at a high level.

Ok and can somone explain lei fei to me. (sorry if i ask alot of questions, this game is just alot to wrap my head around) Are all moves in VF useful, or are there some moves that i should just never throw out, cuz i know in tekken some moves are just BAD!

Some mocves are completely pointless (Kage's [8][P]+[K] comes to mind).

I can't really say for Lei but I know almost every move has a use in one form or another for the characters I use.

He has many different stances that put him in many positions similar to lei in Tekken in a way. he has many moves in each position and switch from each stance 1 after each other and mastering how they work together makes for a unique character.

Somewhat new to the game. Been using brad for about a day, and I like what he has to offer on offense. With that being said, I wouldn't mind using someone who allows me to fight defensively.

    Any suggestions?

Goh and Aoi would come in handy here I guess (take Goh :D).

Jeffrey. He has none of that reversal, subaki or auto parry/grab shit. Its just guard.

Anyone can be played defensively not just the typical choices like Goh or Aoi. It may not always be recommended that certain characters are played defensively like Pai or Lau 2 offensive minded characters but it can be done, some characters have a easier time doing it then others.

I think Akira is the best defensive character in the game.

He has a lot of strong safe options.
